Not sure when it changed (haven't been there in six months or so) but it was supposed to change more frequently. That has not been happening. I remember doing trail work many years back when we changed the direction, primarily turning all of the signs around. Need to get out there soon.

Yeah, the strikes of one of our other trips have been replaced with protests. Since we have an apartment right on the main square we can sit on our balcony. There have been a bunch of Basque/ETA protests. This one was about pensions:

Here in San Sebastián the bike infrastructure is awesome. Tons of dedicated bike lanes and trails, even bike specific stoplights.

That is a converted railway tunnel, so the rock was jagged rock. They basically created a "jacket" for it, and I am assuming that it was padded (never checked) as a bike crash into jagged rocks would hurt. The jacket covers the rock and keeps the trail clear of falling debris or water coming out of the rocks.

Looking at that video, it looks like the quicker solution is some XT brakes. My guides are pretty weak, but that looks like too many small parts for me to keep track of, I think I would screw this one up big time.

Missed the R&I this week, but still managed to do some cool urban riding in San Sebastian, Spain today. There was a train that ran through the middle of the city, and because they are such a bike-crazy town, they converted the trains and the tunnels into bike paths. Here is a video of that tunnel conversion: We only did about 9 miles, close to nothing for me but a full day for my traveling companions. We finished with pintxos and beer/wine, making it a true R&I. And then more pintxos and more wine this evening. Best day of the vacation so far.

32x18 for my singlespeed which is the preferred bike for Austin. Geared are both 1x10, which is all you need here. 11-36 on the HT, 11-42 on the squishy. I wish I could get a heavier duty 11-42, mine is a sun race, which is not as rugged as a Shia no or SRAM.

I think that as long as a.) ARR is engaged b.) the city is acknowledging that mountain biking is an established activity already and c.) the city will rly on ARR to help with the trail plan, then I am fine with this proposal. In any project like this there are lots of opinions. I’d rather have the understanding of the process to move forward than concrete plans because those are too difficult to get agreement on with a broad plan. Patience, grasshopper (assuming that ARR is engaged because they are looking out for you.)

Spending a couple days in Bordeaux. Had coffee with a local who is training for the Paris-Brest-Paris ride, 1200KM in 3 days. As we were walking through the streets he pointed out the wood boxes on the back of everyone’s city bikes. They are all old wine crates. You don’t often see any other type of carrier on a bike, it is 95% old wine crates.

Yeah, I totally love those guys. I bought a second dropper (the 27.2) for my hardtail and it works great as well. Love it. Would definitely buy a third from them if my Lev ever dies.

First, it was not me, as I am in Europe, roughly 6000 miles from the boardwalk. Second, you keep saying “you”, implying that somehow I am agitating your group. This is not the case. Finally, as I have said before neither your opinion nor my opinion matter, it is Austin PARD that matters. I continue to recommend that you work this out with them as they own the parks, not us. Hopefully you can get this all sorted out.
