  1. Yes, the video shows that the keychain locks it.
  2. Very possibly. Wednesday and Thursday look OK right now but I *may* have a work thing that I have to attend to, so I would say I am 80% good for those two days at this point.
  3. That is REALLY sweet, may pick one of those up. I realized that my old rusty Topeak Alien would work on that one bolt that was in the linkage connector. Swapped out the Crank Brothers for the heavier Alien for now. I like the idea of this one. I already have a pair of these in my pack: https://www.amazon.com/Tire-Pliers-QuickLink-Accessories-Engineering/dp/B074KN7YHP/ref=sr_1_53?crid=A356S4D9F7JH&keywords=master+link+pliers&qid=1649508379&sprefix=master+link+pliers%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-53 The only hesitation on the wolf tooth may be the bits. If you lose one you're screwed so I would want to see how well the tool snaps shut and stays shut.
  4. I have a Kona and 2 Vassagos, all have the Paragon-style dropouts. I find that with all of them I need re-tighten after several weeks of riding. Kinda annoying, but it is a slow slip and I can usually ignore it for a few weeks before the chain is loose enough that I have to readjust.
  5. I agree completely. I'd just be happy with some education to the buyer. "Here's a list of all of the places that you can and cannot ride them" and then let the buyer decide. The problem today is that there is a huge disconnect. My gut says eBike buyers are unaware of the limitations on usage. They believe they can ride the bikes anywhere that other bikes are being used. This is a functional problem of both the manufacturers and the shops.
  6. This is exactly what I was thinking, basically a 50 mile loop. Maybe the JF100 will be resurrected and we just do 2 laps and call it a day.
  7. After a lap at walnut where I pushed it harder than normal, rear wheel is perfect. They did the work quick for a great price. Will definitely be back.
  8. Not sure yet, that will become a problem to tackle once the trails are done. Parmer has a sidewalk on the south side starting at about Yeager, but I do not know enough about that area yet. I know I have gone up the sidewalk on 183 from 51st back to Burnet. It's not fun but it is rideable.
  9. You're probably right on this. But, at the same time, the authorities are generally not that savvy and will use the blunt force of "no mountain bikes" instead of trying to thread the needle around which ones are and are not allowed.
  10. My issue is not karma catching up with these people. My issue is selfish: some of them will threaten access for all of us. The attitude among many is “I’ll do whatever I want, mind your own business” but they don’t understand that their actions threaten my access. But I assume that none of them care about others based on my interactions so far.
  11. I have a simple flowchart to answer "do I have shitty taste in music"
  12. Or maybe lithium will start to be in short supply from all of the electric cars and these guys will all give up when they can't get replacement batteries.
  13. Pretty sure a loop from my house, down to the lake, through Guerrero, over the Monopolies bridge, up the SWCT to WC, then over to the north trail, down the Mopac frontage and Shoal Creek back to my house would be an awesome loop. My guess is that it would be 50+ miles with lots of uninterrupted biking. Sign me up!
  14. Next time just drop some F-bombs and they will leave you alone.
  15. Saw 2 e-bikes at WC this morning. This will only get worse over time.
  16. If your rotor is slightly bent, not enough to merit changing but enough to make a little noise, a thin business card does the trick for me. But it has to be a thin one, usually a glossy one works best.
  17. I’m allegedly Slovenian somewhere down the line, my Croatian roots are easier to trace. All I know is that I got hit with a photo ticket from Slovenia doing ~200K/hr in my rental car. So I have that.
  18. This is why I hold onto old business cards. They do the same. And, if you want to call some from Taiwan that you met 15 years ago, yeah, it can do that too.
  19. That is a really smart idea. That is the company that also makes the portable Shimano cassette tool. Need to look into their tools a bit more, they seem to have some real innovation.
  20. Picked up my bike today, haven’t given it a full ride but I am very happy with the repairs. Will definitely use them again in the future.
  21. That is actually a pretty cool idea. If I had to redo a drivetrain that would be a good consideration. I will take burly over finesse in most cases.
  22. Then either a 12-speed is the way to go or consider staying with an 11 and getting a 30T for the front just for that trip. The cost of a ring and a chain would be less than $50. It would be a simple way to deal with real mountains by only having to change the cheap components.
  23. Yeah, if someone did a smash and grab it is unlikely that they would go after the used bikes in the back that have problems. They'll focus on the shiny new ones up front.
  24. Man, if I had 11 speed I'd stick with that. 12, for riding around here, is overkill. The 50T that I have is hardly ever used, I spin too much. In the process of replacing my front ring with a 32T (long story on why it is not done yet) and I am thinking that in the future I might consider a 34T for the front because the 50T is kinda worthless for me. A 34T up front might change that dynamic. Ultimately 11sp would have been a better choice but the bike came with 12. Shifters seem to last forever for me, I chew through derailleurs about ever 18 - 24 months, go through cassettes about every 24 - 36 months. But shifters never wear out for me. If I replace them it is because I misjudged a tree gap. I had a friend that went wireless. She loved it. Then one day she forgot that she was charging the battery and ended up with a singlespeed and could not get it into the optimal range (I am sure you can...) I'm an old guy, I'll stick with cables, I don't trust technology that much (as a tech person).
