Dude.....100% Admittedly it was tile but the P.O. carpeted it. The builders had originally laid ceramic tile over plywood on 2nd floor and it was cracking. Ugh
  3. Wife and I were discussing e-bikes yesterday on our ride at reimers. She was opposed to us ever buying bikes as long as we are physically able to without assist. When i suggested we rent an ebike just for her during our next out of state trip that involved 20+ miles of trail, she had a change of opinion. While we're nowhere close to ever buying an e-bike, it'd be great for her to even the playing field a bit and be able to keep pace, and most likely outpace me on big rides. I really enjoy having her with me, and removing some of that anxiety from the trip would make it a lot more fun. To me, ebikes are tool. Just like any other category of bike. You take your DH rig to the bike park but aren't silly enough to try and ride it on regular trails. Same should apply to ebikes, but human nature will almost always have us taking the path of least resistance. Nice thing about the trails here is they are all pretty much the same. If one doesn't allow ebikes, a rider really isn't missing out on much😁

Refinishing and staining our butcher block countertops. Thanks to @Chief for recommending using Danish oil to stain/seal them. Admittedly I'm looking forward to these "projects" coming to an end😖
  5. Wife & I did our traditional easter ride at reimers this morning but no snakes were spotted. Bathrooms are out of order though.

Out with the 70s flooring for the old girl.
  9. Traded some craft beer for this inversion table, and looking to do the same again. Thing was great during my rehabilitation, but no longer needed and the wife wants it g-o-n-e 😄
  10. Was finally able to put a ride together from my house to the trail. Found some hidden history on SATN behind south park meadows. Looks like what's left of old San Antonio road (?)

The disarray continues. Replacing 1970s marble countertop with butcher block.
  12. For sure. I'm also not big on riding around in circles and in ditches all day😁
  13. Wife and I are mid/late 40s gen-Xrs raised by boomers. Both came from poor white trash backgrounds, with nothing passed on to us by parents but debt. Our generation is responsible for the zoomers and they are light-years worse than the millennials. Now, I think I need to put on my thunder vest and find a safe space on my e-bike🤣
  14. This 100% Initially ebikes were marketed as a way for people with limited mobility to enjoy the outdoors. I also remember when Kona introduced their first emtb, they made a promo about using it for trail maintenance duties. Even had pack to carry work tools. I can see someone out west buying one and doing all day rides with a lot of elevation. Here in flatlandia? Nope.
  15. IMHO: The issue with e-bikes (or more bikes of any kind) in places like tejas is the lack of available public land. The trails in CTX are already being used to death, and we spend so much time and energy just trying to hang on to what is left much less adding additional space. Adding more people, particularly riders on motorized bicycles, who in my observation tend to ride at a faster pace than traditional riders, is just going to be another thorn in the side of joe pedestrian. best luck

Put some lipstick on the wall of beige that is my home. Going to remove 40+ years of coaxial and phone cables and do some painting next
  17. XTR shifters have had warranty issues. There's a thread on MTBR about it. I have the xtr and it doesn't compare to X01 / XX1 as far as action & precision. I'd go XT for simplicity. Also here's an 8spd takeoff cheap https://m.pinkbike.com/buysell/3296372/
  18. I chose the 50T vs 52 because of this. You can run the shimano cassette with sram drivetrain.
  19. Had 11spd X01, X1 and both eagle x01 and XTR 12spds. IMHO, SRAM shifts better but if you are committed to going 12spd I'd do Shimano XT. Do the full kit though. BUT....if you're willing to try something outside the box, the SRAM EX1 8spd is freaking perfect for here. It's an 11-48 cassette that weighs less than the more expensive eagle offerings while having enough bailout for out of state trips. The Derailleur is same weight as XT 8100 and who gives a fuck about the shifter. I've been really, really happy with mine. Plus it's all overbuilt for e-bike use so you get that as well. The only downside is the shifter is 1 to 1 action but with only 8 gears it's not much of a factor. FWIW, I have the xtr and ex on my bikes now and you can give them a try if you want.
  20. Fox makes some really good suspension products. The downside is, it can be hard to source parts and service them yourself.
