  1. It could indicate that your big toe, due to today's social and political climate, has become disenfranchised with today society and is choosing to numb itself rather than exist in a world to which it cannot relate. Or maybe it's the shoe thing.
  2. I had a shoulder injury kinda like that (twice actually). I could ride no problem, but couldn't lift my arm above my head.
  3. The folks who prefer Starbucks prefer " steamed coconut milk and three pumps mocha". I like my coffee black and prefer the stuff I made at home to either DD or Starbucks, but I do still drink plenty of Starbucks out of convenience. (Sometimes black, sometimes "mocha frappuccino no whip".)
  4. Thanks, I didn't even think about clamp size. I'll let someone else have the honors.
  5. Interested. It's hard to tell from the overhead pic, Are these flared drop bars or just some crazy hipster moustache bendy thing?
  6. My original comment about both bikes going the same speed without pedals was meant to be a little tongue in cheek. It's not the presence of a "pedal", but the act of "pedalling" that propels the bike (pedal assisted or not). So yeah, it is all pedantic wankery, but it's kind of important when you are trying to define boundaries which would exclude certain users. The fact is, Seth's definition of a bicycle was meant to be stated as a definitive line in the sand, but it did not have the term "100% human pedal propelled". It just said "pedal propelled". An e-bike is pedal propelled because the act of pedalling propels it. You cannot ride an e-bike without pedalling unless it is modified to the point where it would fall outside the definition. If you could make it go without pedalling it would be an electric moped.
  7. Except, except mountain fixies. Anyone who can ride one of those around here has my full respect. Whatever happened to Fixie Todd?
  8. If you want to keep it holistic, I'd suggest treating with ground up wasp nests.
  9. LOVE Parquet Courts. Here's a full concert inside of Mellow Johnny's in ATX during SXSW. It's a several years old so it's mostly just their first album.
  10. But the definition of a car does not include the term "pedal propelled". Let's revisit the definition of the bicycle: "a vehicle composed of two wheels held in a frame one behind the other, propelled by pedals, and steered with handlebars attached to the front wheel." Where in that definition does it exclude electronic pedal assist bike? It excludes motorcycles and dirt bikes because - no pedals. I excludes Tip's pedal car because of the two wheels and handlebar clause.
  11. I picked up some Real Ale Skullberry strawberry milkshake IPA yesterday. Fruit and creamy are usually not qualities I look for in an IPA, but I was feeling adventurous. Surprisingly good, although I have to say my expectations weren't that high to begin with. One of those beers that you really enjoy the first one, but then order something different for the next one (or six). 12. I like it when they use food saver bags. It makes it harder to sample the goods, but keeps it from drying out.
  13. Ebikes are still propelled by pedals. If you take the pedals off an ebike, it will go the exact same speed as a regular bike with no pedals.
  14. That was an extremely informative article. Thank you.
  15. I usually just go front to back, but full circle could save some TP.
  16. Good call. She lowered her expectations when choosing a husband, but that's about it.
  17. The Mac touchpad is the best. Using a mouse now is like trying to wipe with the opposite hand. Awkward and shitty.
  18. Thanks for the replies. What she really likes about the Peloton is that you can filter by workout type / trainer / musical genre / etc. and just go. I think this is a situation where I should get her want she actually wants or she won't be happy with it. I've done the Peloton once, and I have to admit that I enjoyed it. Some of the female trainers on there are very....motivational.
  19. Wrong. I'll end up with a trainer that we both hate AND a Peloton.
  20. My wife has ridden a Peloton a few times over at her sister's house and now wants one. (note: she is not a cyclist of any kind.) Cost is an issue. Space is a bigger issue. So, I was thinking maybe suggesting a smart trainer as an alternative, but I don't really know that much about them despite several threads on here. I have a bike that I think would work well for it with some minor tweaks and an Apple TV in the room where it would go. I've ridden the Peloton but never been on a trainer (smart or dumb). My questions/concerns are: What are the trainers and subscription services I need to look at? Do they have spin class type stuff that incorporates light free weights for upper body workouts? Does anyone have experience with both? The Peloton has a really solid feel. I'm worried that the trainer would feel wobbly to her. The bike has gears and a freewheel. The Peloton is like a fixie with a resistance knob. How does that compare in terms of feeling on the bike? Usually when she wants something specific and I talk her into something else, it backfires.
  21. I was just arguing because I was bored yesterday. You never said it was "cheaper" to do a custom build, only that you can get in the neighborhood. You should probably buy that Ripmo. Congrats!
