  1. I'll take a low side any day over a high side. One of my longer lasting chronic issues was caused by a high side at Walnut Creek on the BMX trail, was going fast into the big berm closer to the road, hit a root, lost rear traction but then it quickly got traction and launched me into the air landing hard on my hip. It clicked for a long time. Most of my other injuries are scrapes and bruises from slow tech sections, usually caused by hesitation.
  2. Same here. Actually, I'd love something more compact like the old S10 or Rangers. I think GM invested $500M in them.
  3. I'm definitely doing it wrong.
  4. Is that based off a Vehicross? I saw something similar at my local "sport autos" place between work and home (Sutton Motorsports). I could have sworn it was a very nicely done Vehicross but maybe it was one of these Rally Fighters. I meant to stop to look but it was gone fairly quickly. They do have an FJ40 and some other pretty cool cars: https://www.suttonmotorsports.com/view-inventory
  5. I've been eating almond butter banana and honey tacos for years. Can also do PB.
  6. I agree with First-Blood 100%. This was by far the thing I noticed the most. Having worked a little at Peddlers here and there, and having drainage problems of my own in my backyard, I think by far the best part of the machine cut work is going to be the drainage. For comparison, look at the work done at Walnut Creek. When it was first there it didn't feel flowy, in fact it felt slower, but I just rode it after a few weeks/months of rains, and it's amazing how that trail is settling in beautifully.
  7. Reinforced strike plates with 4" screws also help. I've done that to all my houses after my parents got the door kicked in back in San Antonio in the 80's. It doesn't take much to split that 2X4 when you use the regular strike plates and short screws.
  8. Does the opera singing guy still go to the nut? How about the sword fighters? I've seen the mariachi band too. I think it's all awesome.
  9. Here you go. This is 4 laps but you can edit to 1 lap and download a gpx track. https://ridewithgps.com/trips/35087263
  10. While digging up for the easier XTERRA loop, I found this...6 years ago this weekend, the most brutal event I've ever participated in (harder than Dragonslayer). Dig through the photos. I'm downloading my RPR 4 hour race file so I can turn into a Garmin friendly file to share it. This was the easy loop with some extra miles on the jeep road. I'm not sure if this is still navigable today, but based on my last trip to RPR, I think it will be. The hard part is it looks different, but I think the routes are still all there.
  11. Lyme is doing geo-fencing and fining riders $25 and splitting the fine with the TTF. 10 scooter riders per hour go onto the trail (though not all are Lyme), that's nice funding for TTF! https://www.kxan.com/video/beware-if-you-take-scooters-on-hike-and-bike-trail-you-will-be-fined_20190523145804/2021156497
  12. No Pool or beer fridge. I have owned a pool in the past, PITA. it has been a while since I rode Thumper. If there is any chance of dampness I don’t ride it. Last time I rode, it was stil hard, but riding it 2x a week quickly makes you faster.
  13. They really have Hoosier tires?!
  14. Nando, I'll put $20 with your Macbook stuff. Come ride Thumper and drop by my house for a beer!
  15. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and just now getting to the interesting (to me) parts. Thanks for sharing!
  16. Since I haven't been to Brushy Creek in...feels like months...I saw a pic of the sign and I think it's great.
  17. My impression is that they're selling tons of commuter bikes. I went to the Guadalupe store for a shop ride and there were 12 people waiting to go on a hosted e-bike ride (rental Comos and Vados). Those are a lot cheaper than the e-MTB bikes. I'm thinking about one of those for myself.
  18. Let me dig through my stuff to see if I have any gloves. My brother got my nephew a full face for the same reason. He is thorough on his research so I'll ask him what helmet he got.
  19. @Yosmithy definitely go hit this place up. Yeah, not much in town for mountain biking. I think there's one trail but not much to talk about. We went toward Mt. Hood for riding, but you can ride all day at The Lumberyard and not be bored. They have beer and really good pizza too.
  20. Had to wait for baby-in-a-wooden-bucket pictures once.
  21. + a certain someone we know writing tickets.
  22. Sealant is not a pain at all compared to tubes.
