  1. Luckily you didn't get hit by the Anvil dropping from the tree!

  2. RIP Dirt Rag. I'll miss their blue-collar, iconoclast spin on mtb culture. I can tell from their old magazines that they were trying to keep things punk rock, but it seems like they were in a losing battle with the forces of technopoly. I have a big box of Dirt Rags dating back to Issue 2. I was trying to give them away for a long time but now I am going to keep them.

  3. I haven't made it to ride MTB is AZ yet, but hope to someday. EP has some fun stuff, a bit brutal at times, but it helps burn off Madre inlaw's amazing food whenever we go there. Lost dog trails, Monks trail, and lower sunset are well worth stopping for a couple of hours if passing through. The elevation kicks my ass though, but so does eating a bowl of ice cream standing up these days .

  4. Since the late 90's (including living there for a few years) I've run to AZ at least once a year passing through El Paso, and I always think about stopping to check out some of the trails... but just haven't brought myself to do so. I guess I figure that's just one less ride I'll get in AZ, and we can't mess with that... I dig the van life more because I can relate to it.

  5. El Paso was a bit meh..... IMHO, worth a few hours more driving to get into NM or AZ.

  7. After replacing practically every goddamn piece of this bike, I finally, definitively, located the creak today. Rear wheel. The hub had been rebuilt and a new freehub body put on so my guess is that it was spoke tension. Regardless, I am done messing with it. Ordered a new wheel, didn't want to mess around with the old one any longer. Might take the old one to a shop and have it restrung some day as a backup, but for all practical intents a Shimano/WTB wheel is going on that bike next week. Thanks to Antonio for loaning me his wheel. And let this be a lesson to you when you are trying to track down squeaks - don't overlook the rear wheel.

  8. Not so new to those of us old enough to remember... Yamaha: Kawasaki: I was more offended by the fact that those old dudes still have that kind of riding in them.

  9. In my decade of mountain biking, I've only experienced the shortest bouts of interest in riding a squishy bike. Now that I saw that video, I don't recognize the person I see in the mirror anymore.

  10. I'm actually kind of bummed he's not doing the international thing now. I understand that he see's more market in the Van Life kind of thing, and that's probably going to pay the bills better. Never the less, I really enjoyed his other travels out of the US.

  11. So far the only two he posted from Texas was El Paso and Cat Mtn. The last one he posted today was Mississippi.

  12. I think I started hearing about this run about 6 months ago, so yeah, fairly new.

  13. Then you'll love this. Friend's (late) brother is on bass (black and white Jazz Bass to the right of Joe.) He played with everyone, lots of big names.

  15. Agreed. This is very sad. I hope the last issue arrives because the app is not letting me download. Does anybody know of another similar publication?

  16. Peddlers Pass is good to go. The chain was up last night in anticipation of rain today, but the forecast has changed. If the chains still up you can take it down.

  17. Yeah, that is pretty much it. The issue I always have with the rock gardens is that I ride it so infrequently that I forget the lines. The second lap is always better than the first because there aren't as many dabs along the way.

  19. I got these sprayers from Mcmaster Carr that were bullet proof. A tad spendy (like anything from Mcmaster) but they can handle anything. https://www.mcmaster.com/1427n71-1427N25 Gawd I love that place!

  20. Caps for Schraeder, never presta. Schraeder can get dirt and gunk in them, presta is fairly immune to that in my experience.
