  2. I hope these pics show up. We have a very unique RV called a TrailManor. It isn't a pop-up. TrailManor owners don't really know what to call it since they are so unique. "Collapsible," or better, "Transformers." They only weigh 3,000 pounds so most SUVs can tow them. It has a folding hitch so they can fit in a garage. We got it so we can store it at home behind our fence to comply with the HOA's "no RV storage" rules. Closed for travel (at my spot at Maverick RV park in Lajitas last year): "Transformed" for use (Monahan's State Park): One side up, to show how it works (Brazos Bend State Park): Some rando mountain bikers enjoying a warm place for dinner:

  3. So we did it. We watched countless RV videos over the last 5 years and @Barry found the perfect Toy Hauler. This past weekend was the inaugural trip to Blowing Springs AK. I am not sure which was more enchanting, sleeping next to a babbling creek or riding to the trailhead from the RV. I'm super interested in finding other RV sites that are biking distance to trail heads. I am currently researching a Muse OK, Hot Springs AK trip. Anyone willing to share their fav RV Biking combos?

  4. Apparently the rules have changed. Used to be that it required a new bike purchase to call the rain but today all it took was a bit of drive-train replacement and *whammo* - sorry about that kids, wasn't the plan, but it was necessary after shredding the cassette, chain, & derailleur last night. Still, had a good time last night with Nando, hope to try that trail again before I leave town ... nothing is impossible ... not going into likelihood though. So, rest up, and maybe look for a less rain enhanced activity on the morrow. (and no, 'riding' around in the car today doesn't count correctly, but it doesn't stop me from "i" tonight)

  5. Okay, today's total becomes: 6 rides, 97 miles, 10693 ft up after adding 2 rides. Morning Session I connected up with John and Matt, we had a good tour of Ninja - albeit with more moisture than we'd liked - so not as much playing with the wooden features as maybe properly treated (but the visit isn't over). Still, was a great morning run with great company followed by a fine Belgian style WIT and snacks at Red Horn. Evening session with Nando was well anticipated and started out well enough - playing with marbles so to say - but in the end led to a little bike carnage and not as much riding as intended. Still, the hard work to that point of the ride was well worth the time, and the end DH run on lights through the winding night and drops between the juniper was great. Followed up with snacks, beverages, great conversation, and a fun barkeep at Waterloo. Would have been nice to get away this week without any bike carnage, especially one of the spare parts I didn't bring (cassette), however it looks like we have a line for replacement in hand so tomorrow all will be right as rain (just like the rain and hail that's going to fall) so the adventure WILL continue. And with neigh- onto 100 miles of Austin trail *something* had to break, right? ps. both my chain and my cassette are FUBAR; it's possible my derailleur and hanger are also but it's too late to care ... and I have spares for those so I don't care right now.

  8. Ours is an Outback 240urs toy hauler with a side load garage up front. We also had to ditch our Grand Cherokee and go for a Durango to pull it. Garage shot: rear king bed slide:

  9. Not in Hot Springs, but I've stayed at one on the east side of Mt Ida. there's a state park at Denby Point right on the lake that you are an easy ride to the western edge of the LOViT trail. Also a little south of Hot Springs on Lake DeGray you can camp right by the Iron Mountain trailhead I think. Never stayed at that one.

  10. Spread the word: Georgetown Trails Foundation will be back at Chautauqua Park on November 20th at 9am. Come out and help us dial in the new Chautauqua Trail! We will be building berms, rerouting a segment away from river rocks, and building some advanced "A-lines" along the rocky bluffs. As always, trail tools will be provided - all you need to bring are gloves, water, and sturdy shoes. We appreciate the help - together we are making Georgetown an awesome place to enjoy the outdoors. Happy Trails!
