  1. Ladies and gentlemen charge your lights this evening. It’s gonna be a beautiful night on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss out.
  2. Is that the spillway that killed the oyster harvest? Had a hard time getting oysters last month. Parkway only had oyster poboys on two days a week (but oddly the $.50 oysters for happy hour were plentiful.)
  3. I do an urban lap through Guerrero all the time, let me slip down there some time and check it out. It's already on google maps.
  4. If you read the article that I posted, it specifically addresses that movie. I am not arguing that being a vegetarian/vegan is bad, simply that the movie claims have been cherry picked and are not representational of the real science. There are plenty of pro-vegan and pro-keto articles about the movie. I believe the Men's Health is a more balanced view of all of it.
  5. I'd take the under on that bet. "Just follow the science, the science is real" is a pretty strong statement when much of what is in the movie is debunked as faulty science. People should do whatever works for them and leave the rest, diet is like religion, unless someone is seeking advice, it's best to not promote. Any time someone says "I need to lose weight like you did, you've kept it off for so long, what's the secret?" my first remark is "you'll never be able to do it because of the 100 people that I've explained it to, 90% say 'I could never....' and of the 10% that try, most of them won't stick with it." Diet and health are a lifestyle and difficult to change unless there is a real reason (wanting to lose weight is not a real reason 95% of the time), people should do what works for them and leave it at that in my opinion.
  6. I'd call it propaganda instead. Read this first, before you watch the movie: https://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/a29067926/the-game-changers-movie-fact-check/ Basically, as a species, we are omnivores. Eating meat is part of hundreds of thousands of years of evolution. Whenever you see someone raving about being vegetarian/vegan, they are often coming off of a shitty overall diet. If you go from eating crappy processed food, fast food, and too much sugar and then go to a vegan diet or a keto diet, your outlook will improve. But it has less to do what what you started eating and more to do with what you STOPPED eating. Generally speaking the science has been mixed at best on vegetarian/vegan diets, primarily because it is hard to get enough protein. But everyone is different. If you stop eating crap processed food and start eating more real food (real meat, real vegetables) you'll be a lot better off. But this movie has an agenda and based on the amount of praise and criticism (each side builds it up or breaks it down) I would be highly skeptical. Clearly the plant based people are advocating it and the keto people are breaking it down. This does not tell me that either side is right, it tells me that the claims in the movie are distorted. If they were clean, clear science then you'd have no way to debunk it. A plant-based diet *may* be better, but don't use this movie as a justification.
  7. If you look at my garage floor it looks like a 14-year-old's bedroom.
  8. Looks like the rain missed us, so my expectation is BCGB for the social ride on Friday (not my ride call, just weighing in...) Don't forget that this weekend is Formula 1, so if you are heading out to Smithville and riding near the airport, expect a little extra time for the trip.
  9. I'm lazy and life is too short for me to experiment. Stan's works and a bottle lasts me more than a year. The last thing I want is to have to put a tube in because my home sealant formula was slightly off. Has anyone had their home-brew fail on them?
  10. Starting to feel like a social urban SS ride on Friday. I have some ideas.
  11. Laps? I plan to go out there, ride my singlespeed and smile the whole way. I believe this is a sound strategy.
  12. Ride the roads and let the GB have some time to heal 😞
  13. Yes, with as much as people complain at times, we are spoiled. I am in New Orleans this week and there are really no real trails to speak of. Lots of urban options, but when it comes to dirt (and elevation), nothing to speak of.
  14. Singlespeed ride with the dog on Bayou St. John in New Orleans this afternoon.
  15. Pretty hard to blame cheater lines on the motos when the GB is full of them.
  16. I might have some 9-speed stuff, let me look into the bin when I get home, in New Orleans right now.
  17. Decided to keep this for now, may have cracked my Kona Unit so this may become a new urban singlespeed instead of someone else's bike.
  18. Yeah, I guess, in looking at the difference I have GS1's on my FS bike and GP1's on my SS. I believe that the GP1's were their first models and later the GS1's were introduced. My GP1's are pretty old, but they take forever to wear out.
  19. Some of us have never had our bodies set up right.
  20. Too outta shape for this one but I'll put some reminders out on my site and hopefully drag in a few more for you.
  21. I hear that a lot. not too many people unhappy with Transition, nice bikes.
  22. Don't. Ever. Listen. To. This. Guy. Still got in close to 20 miles before the rain hit, but boy did it hit.
  23. I have been running Ergon GP1's on all of my mountain bikes for years, they are great. Last forever. I have some funky grips on my urban bike that have handles on ends, like bar ends, but they do the job.
