Never tried it after a ride but have tried some for general relaxation and better sleep. Seems to do ok, but more experimentation is needed before I can call it success.

It is primarily a consumer thing. We tech people can decode letters easily, but consumers, not so much. https://www.wi-fi.org/discover-wi-fi/wi-fi-certified-6 Back on topic. I really like that Specialized categorization.

Exactly. I have little space for my bikes, essentially 3 wall studs. And there is an exterior door that opens right into the bikes (clearly I was limited in my storage space.) In that world being able to swing the bikes 6-12" to get in and out of the door is perfect. Without the swing, the door would only open halfway.

I am one level below that. Technically I am an under the influencer.

I am a networking analyst. One of the things the industry did is change all of the nomenclature. Instead of 802.11n or 802.11ac or 802.11b they changed to WiFi1 through WiFi6. Because 6 is higher than 5 (logical) and there is a lack of logic on the letters (AC is higher than N...) People can figure out what "level" of WiFi is supported, it was far easier than having to figure out if one was better than another. I'd love to see companies find a way of trying to do this as well. But it would have to be standardized, so that, for instance, a Specialized "level 5" should be able to take the same level of abuse as a Yeti "Level 5", and so on.

I actually like that. I wish the biking world could come up with some guidelines for riding like this. From a marketing perspective it would help the guys trying to sell $5K bikes and help differentiate against the low end bikes. Everything is relative, but something like this could be good for the industry.

Not to get everyone off the puns, but while I was out of town Steadyrack pinged me and wanted me to review their new rack. It has a wider holder to accommodate larger tires. They even have a fat bike now. https://www.steadyrack.com Got home last night and the box was waiting for me. Will give it a shot this weekend and see how it goes. The standard racks were a bit tight on you 2.4" chunky monkey tires so this should be interesting.

We rented city bikes from them, then I saw this when we returned them. Since my group was all non-bikers I should have gotten this one and seen if I could keep up with them:

Tandem bike on Peddlers Pass
AustinBike replied to First-Blood's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Walking to dinner last night I passed by this sweet ride. Wish I had known about it earlier in the week: -
I was expecting that you would go over the log pile at the end. I would have crashed long before I got to that point.

Head to Toulouse tomorrow and fly out on Thursday morning. Better question is whether WC will be dry I guess.

Not sure when it changed (haven't been there in six months or so) but it was supposed to change more frequently. That has not been happening. I remember doing trail work many years back when we changed the direction, primarily turning all of the signs around. Need to get out there soon.

I'll take the Thomson stem, I may actually be able to use a 130mm

R&I Europe Style - Biking in San Sebastian
AustinBike replied to AustinBike's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Yeah, the strikes of one of our other trips have been replaced with protests. Since we have an apartment right on the main square we can sit on our balcony. There have been a bunch of Basque/ETA protests. This one was about pensions: -
R&I Europe Style - Biking in San Sebastian

Here in San Sebastián the bike infrastructure is awesome. Tons of dedicated bike lanes and trails, even bike specific stoplights. -
That's easy, we'll just blame you now 😉

R&I Europe Style - Biking in San Sebastian
AustinBike replied to AustinBike's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Awesome. Wish we had something like this in Texas. Growing up around Chicago we had the old Aurora & Elgin railhead converted to the Illinois Prairie Path, did thousands of miles a year on that as a kid, really miss it. http://www.ipp.org -
R&I Europe Style - Biking in San Sebastian
AustinBike replied to AustinBike's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
That is a converted railway tunnel, so the rock was jagged rock. They basically created a "jacket" for it, and I am assuming that it was padded (never checked) as a bike crash into jagged rocks would hurt. The jacket covers the rock and keeps the trail clear of falling debris or water coming out of the rocks. -

No, it was an iPhone that I was holding while I rode. I love the 12GB data SIM for things like this. -
Guide brakes......sticky lever/not returning
AustinBike replied to JRA's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Looking at that video, it looks like the quicker solution is some XT brakes. My guides are pretty weak, but that looks like too many small parts for me to keep track of, I think I would screw this one up big time. -
Missed the R&I this week, but still managed to do some cool urban riding in San Sebastian, Spain today. There was a train that ran through the middle of the city, and because they are such a bike-crazy town, they converted the trains and the tunnels into bike paths. Here is a video of that tunnel conversion: We only did about 9 miles, close to nothing for me but a full day for my traveling companions. We finished with pintxos and beer/wine, making it a true R&I. And then more pintxos and more wine this evening. Best day of the vacation so far.

This is why I don't ride with you, passing by on the trail is enough for me 😉

How do we feel about One Wheels?
AustinBike replied to csmceuen's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
But, technically, you need an A line to have a B line. I'm too cheap to have a B line, the A line is enough challenge for me. -
No that is you. Perhaps you see that in more things than the rest of us.

What gears are you running?
AustinBike replied to RedRider3141's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
32x18 for my singlespeed which is the preferred bike for Austin. Geared are both 1x10, which is all you need here. 11-36 on the HT, 11-42 on the squishy. I wish I could get a heavier duty 11-42, mine is a sun race, which is not as rugged as a Shia no or SRAM.
