I did some digging and found that the project plans and site and it looks like they are planning for the trail running both under the bridge E-W and accross the bridge N-S. This is awesome actually, because it will make a pretty direct route to the Behrens Ranch trails too as Wyoming Springs will go all the way to Sam Bass where it terminates at the Behrens Ranch Neighborhood. More and more bulldozer action, now they're across Brushy. Here is the view from the final decent from Brightwater looking North over Hairy Man and Brushy Creek. I'm kind of shocked that they are allowed to just throw down some 5" rock on both sides of the creek and just drive through! 🤯

Kona "Flatbar Gravel"? Build
RedRider3141 replied to RedRider3141's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
I don't know about a slow bike, maybe none of mine are real fast but I think this bike is going to be pretty fun. As of now, I think I'm gonna build it into a 650b/27.5" flatbar "gravel" bike. I use that term loosely because I really just want something a little more efficient than my XC bike on the BCRT and the like. Today I ungummed the 24yo shifter grease and got it tuned up. Swapped the bars, stem, grips and seat and got a scale weight, 27.5lbs, not too bad. I also test fit my 27.5 rim with 2.25 tire. Fine in diameter, bad on width but probably great for a 40mm-50ish width tire. Next up is hunting down some rims and deciding what to do with the brakes and drive train. The brakes work well but I don't think that I'll find a compatible wheelset. The drivetrain is decent and probably the last thing I'll Change. Considering: 1x10/11, 2x9 or SS. -
I guess tomorrow's rain is my fault, I got a "new" bike. From what I can tell it is a 2001 Kona Muni-Mula and it's in immaculate shape, some dust from being in the garage and the shifters are gummed up with old grease but otherwise it's in great shape mechanically. I still haven't sorted how old the tires are and how badly they need replacement but overall it's solid. Even the fork is super smooth. I've been playing around with making a dedicated gravel/paved path bike and this seemed like a great candidate for my needs and the price was right.

I haven't yet, but I did notice the Strava Bread Crumbs leading from there to the current dead end on the trail. Does it just leadout to Sam Bass?
-
I should note, this segment will have to tie in with Wyoming Springs, hopefully going under like Great Oaks.

2 things... 1) The Wyoming Springs is being cleared, if you want a KOM on that segment, it's nice and smooth. Go get it!😜 2) I've been exploring the East End of the BCRT and it's great, but getting to it from West of Harry Man sucks (as mentioned above). It looks like there is some action on it from Wilco: On their site they call it: BCRT from Hairy Man Road 1.5 miles of 10 foot wide concrete segment of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail between Faith Missionary Baptist Church and Sauls Ranch West subdivision. https://www.wilcotx.gov/1351/BCRT-from-Hairy-Man-Road Timingwise looks like it's going to bid Spring this year and done by "Early 2026" There are still some major road crossings along the route but soon, riding from the Twin Lakes YMCA to Nearly SR130 will be alot easier by connecting the East End of the BCRT West to the West End of the BRCT East.

On another note, They logged out the dead/burned trees along the creek on TLC. I didn't make it to deadwood but I'm guessing it's been done or will be done. I understand why it's best to be done, but that section is feels very exposed now, no shade. -

Thank you for the offer, I ended up finding a reasonably priced RaceFace Stem in my prefered length.

Anyone have a threadless 31.8mm stem, ~60mm long that they'd care to sell? I got my daughter new bars and grips for Christmas to replace some 1" steel bars. I was thinking that I had a perfect donor stem in my parts bin that a PO gave me with my bike but alas, 2 out of 4 threads were cross threaded making the thing useless. It seems like stems are either $100+ or no-name brand junk on Amazon. Not looking for anything fancy, just something I can trust in my kids bike.

I saw this on FB: Looks like CP is getting ready to allow developers into SN? https://www.cedarparktexas.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8943/2024-5-Z_Web-Notice -
Awesome, I had no idea it was that close.

Weird flex but ok. -
Yes, 3 bike, bike racks. They hold by the top tube, not great for all types of bikes though.

Do you know which lakes? My Grandparents and Great Grandparents grew up in Ely owned a hunting/fishing lodge on Basswood lake. This was before it was all national forest. The government took eminent domain and burned it and dozens (hundreds?) of other small business down.

Gears and Guns - MTB Biathlon Comfort, TX (Flat Rock Ranch)
RedRider3141 replied to RedRider3141's topic in Events / Races
This event is coming up again in just a few weeks (Sep 8th) I had a ton of fun last year and looking forward to it again this year. https://www.bikereg.com/run-and-gun-gears-and-guns-biathlon-weekend-at-flat-rock-ranch -
Did we ever hate one wheels? I feel like they are one of the only other user groups who have (at least attempted) to put in effort in shared use of the trails. There was even a user (might have been on mojo) who would frequent this forum asking questions. I've come across a few on peddlers and the regional trail and never had a problem.

So, apparently, it's time for an e-bike.

You Capitalist junkies must be in the wallets of big E, I go full human powered: That is, when I'm not using my 1988 Honda HR214SX with Chinese replacement carb that keeps it running rich while mulching live oak leaves. -
