ATXZJ replied to rugger's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
you're welcome and sorry🤣 @rugger If you end up in the market for toyota, LC or Lexus i know of some wholesalers who specialize in them. One of them had a 90s japanese RHD diesel floating around for awhile. -

Just came >< that close buying a plug in hybrid. The feds were offering up $7500 for your tax liability and the state was offering a $2500 rebate check but they ran out of money early ( a good thing i suppose). In the end, it wasnt worth the extra cost per month for the plu in vs hybrid so we ent hybrid. 53mpg is good either way. FWIW, my wife has to pay to park downtown garage but it does come with charging stations. -

Pretty much this^ I was a total gearhead starting in HS and built and raced cars then moved onto offroading in my 30s. I have also been in the auto industry for 28 years which is most likely why i have little patience for working on cars🤣 Bring on electric! -

To each their own , and its nice for sure but...... I see a vehicle that used to have a marginally comfortable ride/handling that has been lifted and now rides worse, handles worse, stops worse, and get even worse fuel economy. -
More Austin and Seth. Nice work😎

Has anyone ever snapped a rear shock in half?
ATXZJ replied to Seths Pool's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Kona offered a coil for the yoke driven linkage on the 167 when it was first released. They also dropped it the following year. I have only read of one guy breaking a coil the same as Seth on the 167, and it was an xfusion. That design does sideload a bit as even the airshocks seemed to have seal issues. -
Watched this sunday. So awesome to see those two legends riding a tandem together. Martyn is such a good dude and Rob will always be fun to watch no matter what he's up to. The "dark days" comment says it all about that friendship.

Its not a bug, its a feature.

Thanks! Totally agree about spider mountain not needing a specific gravity build. I had a fleet of bikes that I started selling off last year due to all the overlap. I'm currently down to a flexy stay 100mm XC bike that beats the shit outta me in the big stuff. Hopefully I'll get this commencal to more than a few parks this year to pay it forward. I'm getting tired of pedaling so not much choice. Its total overkill for SM but I wanted a high pivot that was 27.5 and aluminum. This was the only one that fit that criteria and was also the last black size L SX with a shock in all global inventory. Had to pay over $100 for duties on the bastard. However, with 180mm travel and a 63* HTA it'll make up for the trouble that it took to get it. Bike is probably 3-4 weeks from completion as I'm waiting on parts.

Finally getting around to building a bike for spider mountain and other gravity parks. Commencal Supreme SX

Where to ride in NM have ideas but open to suggestions
ATXZJ replied to natas1321's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Was the same in 2012. Had to do 20 mph in my crappy ford super duty from coming apart. There is a TON of exposure on white mesa that can make things interesting for sure. If you're riding in the summer, id recommend northern NM as the south can get pretty warm and with sub 10% humidity you can get dehydrated really freakin quick. -

Lived in NM for 18 months and these were my go to trails: Cedro: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/275852/north-cedro-singletrack Otero: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/367623/otero-canyon White Mesa: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/206544/white-ridge-trail-system-main-loop Red Mesa: http://www.mountainbikenm.com/red-mesa/ Winsor: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/6566265/winsor-south-eight Foothils: https://www.mtbproject.com/directory/8016328/copper-foothills-trails If you're staying in ABQ, the N & S foothills trails will keep you pretty busy. The south has bigger climbs and features while the north is more flowy with good views. (pic of S foothills. not me) My experience was not to ride alone as most of these trails with the exception of winsor and foothills are really remote, with low traffic during weekdays, and can be a real problem if something goes wrong. -
Go Here... Get Excited... Then Dumped On...

Unfortunately they'll work like sh*t. I occasionally used my old maltese falcons for flats, and since the insole is stiffer for a clipless pedal, they just bounced around on the platform and were hard to keep planted. Ive had a few freeriders with Mi6 rubber and really like the near clipless traction they offer. https://www.adidasoutdoor.com/five-ten-freerider-contact-mens-mountain-bike-shoe/FT21.html -

I wear 11.5s and the five10s fit me perfectly. Bought a dozen or so when they were being blown out for $40.00-$60.00. -
Saw these guys open for L7 last night, and we were insta-fans after the first song.

Guide brakes......sticky lever/not returning
ATXZJ replied to JRA's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
My buddy went to outerbike moab a year or so ago, and had to wait on multiple occasions for bikes to have their guide brakes serviced before being demo'd. Trying magura this time around -
In my experience, any 29er hardtail with a 66-68* HTA is fine here.
