  1. Can I boondock my teardrop camper for the night out there? No electricity needed, just a spot to sleep.
  2. Plan to do the full loop this weekend. Never done it before. It seems clockwise it the preferred direction, is that accurate ? Thanks!
  3. 1. There are ALWAYS bike deals to be had. Brand new, month old, or year old. Know what you want, know where to find it, be patient and you will find a great deal out here. 2. No experience. 3. I’d sell it and apply all funds to the new purchase. 4. I’m running Stan’s Flow MK3 wheels with Neo ultimate hubs right now. They’ve been an excellent wheelset so far, stiff, light and fast. 5. I just went from 12 speed 10-50 eagle to 11 speed 11-46 Shimano. I prefer the 46 to the 50, and the 11 to the 10 is negligible to me. Again, I would sell off everything and start from a fresh new build you shop around and be patient for. I cannot say this enough, there is always a deal out there if you do your due diligence and be patient.
  4. A buddy and I have discussed doing this recently. In the warmer months the black fly swarms are unbelievable, so I wouldn’t do it then. We may do it this winter though. Should easily be able to cover 50+ miles before camping.
  5. Trails are riding great right now, just wrapped up a nice loop this morning. Madrone Trail west to east is one of the funnest trails in Central Texas.
  6. Wish I could, but Thursday morning is still office morning for me.
  7. I haven’t done it before. Haven’t really ridden anything out there north of Huntsville. I do know from lots of travel and working out in that region that elevation will be a factor. I’m a 50mile or less guy these days, if it were 55 or 60 I may reach for it, but decided to not push myself and signed up for the 35. More time for Michelob Ultras.
  8. Who’s in? They just adjusted the number of entries per category this morning. http://camino205.com/ https://www.bikereg.com/el-camino-105
  9. Trails are riding good, but ride at your own risk on the power line hill wooden features. Number of boards coming up which is exposing things that can puncture a tire. Got a few hours in this morning. Always worth the drive it takes to get out there.
  10. I spent 2 years on gx 42, 2 years on gx eagle 50, and just switched to XT 46. Big fan of the 46 so far. 42 was a bit too tough at times. 50 was a lot of spinning.
  11. I have a single fox X2 volume spacer. These come in sets of 3, but my shock stroke is only 55mm, so I’m limited to using 2. If anyone needs an extra it’s yours for the taking.
  12. Brand new outside of one ride at brushy and one ride at walnut. 29 x 2.5WT 3CMaxxTerra EXO TR Yours for $40.
  13. Not on Twitter, but keep us posted here on the efforts needed to fix this up. Willing to come out for a morning to help build a feature or whatever Ronan plans. Feel better Deb!!!!
  14. Since you’re there, check out BB ranch state park. I think it’s much more scenic than the NP if traveling mostly by vehicle. The way I recommend spending a day: head west out of the NP, drive thru Terlingua, stop at Baton Warnock center for good info. Stack up on water and snacks. Head west down 170 and enjoy the state park, stoping at cool spots you deem acceptable for a view and small hike (lots along the route). After however long you’d like head back east and stop at the ole Thirsty Goat for food and drinks. Dog should be welcome on the patio. From there you’re on your own. We did this exact thing recently and it was the best day of the trip.
  15. Not even enough rain to keep the dust down at brushy. Everything is G2G. Lots of riders this morning.
  16. I was at the 183/Lakeline intersection at 6:45 and got a few drops on the windshield.
  17. Nice steed there. Question, how have you tinkered with the new X2? I just got one, and between LSC/HSC and LSR/HSR I’m just trying to figure it all out.
  18. This is definitely what’s happening. I just did a major shift with my bike, the opposite way of the industry. I reduced reach by 10mm, reduced wheelbase by 35mm and increases my HTA 1 degree steeper. I felt my old bike was super stable and capable, but it was built with light duty trail suspension. So I went opposite on this new one with much more trail focused and playful geometry, but much more burly suspension. I think this change is for the better to do it all from trail to park laps and all in between.
  19. No experience with that list, but I do have to say that Marin Pine looks so sweet, especially for that price.
  20. That’s fair. My next one is something you’re describing. However next year I plan to move out west into the snow, so I’m probably going to hold off this year and go full on fat bike next year. Most likely a Surly Ice Cream Truck and just rip that thing anywhere.
  21. Thanks for all the input here. I ended up landing a killer deal. Only had 1 compromise from my ideal bike, and it was the XT 11-46 11speed drivetrain. If all I have to do is remember how to shift with Shimano again, I feel like I came out good here.
  22. I think it’s because everyone knows it’s just heavy, some more, some a little less. You can always spend the extra money for extremely light weight gear, but is it worth it? I don’t think so. The bike here with cages and pedals tips just a hair under 25 pounds. Full gear and water I estimate to be a bit under 50, but I forgot to grab my scale yesterday for my dry run. If it’s 40, or 65, I’m still gonna pedal this bastard.
