I ordered the size I usually wear in any shoe (9.5). I haven't had a chance to ride in them yet, but they felt fine walking around the house. I have another pair of 5-10s in a 9.5 that I bought for a short lived flat pedal experiment, so I felt pretty good about the sizing.

Judging by the way they spell "tyres" it may be 16000 Euros, but still a lot. This is what happens when every single component on the bike gets computerized. Much like the current trend of $100,000 trucks.

Plus, I doubt you can do a backflip with a cargo bike. (Or pop up a curb)

What size bike do you need? Sluggo still has his SB5+ available. Great price for that bike. You could probably buy it, ride it at the gathering, and flip it when you get back.

Your phone may not be the best GPS tracking unit, but it is terrible at shifting. Another good question for this discussion is how recently have you refreshed your 3x9 drivetrain? If you go with the new GPS unit, when are you going to need to replace these wear-and-tear items anyway?

1x with a wide range cassette, clutch derailleur, and narrow/wide chainring is really, really nice. The added bonus (and really should be considered part of your 1x upgrade) is getting an under-bar mounted dropper switch. Right thumb shifts. Left thumb drops. You'll immediately find yourself using your dropper more often and more effectively.

Your best bet is probably to mount a turret and high powered machine gun to the top of the FJ. There is no better defense than a good offense.

I had a similar experience at Angelfire. It was an "easy" section, but I was going fast because, ya know, gravity. I think it is just really easy to take these sections for granted. One lapses in concentration and you'll be kissing dirt. In my case, I was adjusting a GoPro (or just blinking) and the front tire washed out on the downside of a little benchcut. Luckily, I was wearing a full face and my beautiful face was spared.

I'd be less worried about Sticky Icky and more worried about the machine built trails. When shit is rocky and gnarly, I'm going pretty slow, and as you say, it's not unlike CP or BCGB. Those fast, bermy, jumpy machine trails are the ones where your face is in the dirt before you know it. As the summer goes on and the trails get blown out, it's gonna much harder to rail those turns. That dirt is not like the dirt in town or at nearby RPR. It is slippery when it gets loose. When I was out there we saw a guy at the bottom who had taken a spill with only a half shell. His face looked like ground hamburger. A full face should be standard equipment out there. They rent them out there too. It's way cheaper facial reconstruction surgery.

Seems like an extremely personal design choice by the manufacturer. Especially because I'm not really in the market for a new bike hanging solution.

I have a friend coming in from Seattle tomorrow (5/22), and we are going to ride something. We didn't get much rain down here in Wimberley, but I heard Austin got dumped on this morning. The original plan was to pick up a rental at BSS and ride BCGB for a few hours. We could go a little farther to seek out dry trail, but I need some feedback on what may be rideable. I'm open to other suggestions, but looking for specific info on these: BCGB SATN Pace Bend Madrone Maybe City Park (He's not super comfortable in tech) The other option is to give up hope for singletrack and have him rent a gravel bike instead. Anyone have a good route that could start at BBS S. Lamar and stay mostly off the roads? Of course, there is a chance of rain tomorrow morning, too.
