  1. I got my early Kuat Sherpa at a BSS garage sale for quite a bit less than retail. That was about 9-10 years ago. The plastic bits are all fine. I just recently took it apart to clean and oil the ratchets and it works like new. The biggest thing I liked about it is how light it is which is important to me for not messing up my car's balance too much when I don't have bikes around. It moves around when going over bumps and rough roads but it's fine. Engineering a 2 bike rack so a lady can stand on it means 38lbs empty...which is too much for my taste. I liked the 1Up but they also seemed heavier than my Sherpa.
  2. @AustinBike check out the Whithings watches. I also refuse to get a watch that has a battery that has to be recharged daily. https://www.withings.com/us/en/watches
  3. Don't some national parks already use the USNG? https://usngcenter.org/portfolio-item/print-marker-online/
  4. Wow! That did suck. Did you notice at least a couple of cheated bikes? One guy hadn't pedaled at all...you could see where he was "oh yeah, gotta make it look real" then he'd pedal a bit..
  5. Trashcans in the middle of the trail? That's ridiculous. Most trailheads have trashcans...and if they don't, you're supposed to pack it out, leave no trace, etc. Bunch of entitled jerks.
  6. I want to be deputized to hand out warnings. After one warning, you get a ticket from a real officer.
  7. For me, after my ankle break, the most depressing thing was losing 3" in calf circumference (they measured that and range of motion on my first day), but it came back fairly quickly just working hard at it. Y'all keep hitting the PT as hard as the Dr. allows you. You'll get there.

  9. Based on that page alone, I’m not 100% clear on whether this is strictly an education program for those that sign up, an enforcement helper program (talk to other pet owners and hand out info) or both. How did y’all interpret it?
  10. This is like MGRS with a fixed grid size and words instead of numbers and letters. Pretty cool! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Grid_Reference_System
  11. We got no rain here at Spicewood Springs and Old Spicewood Springs rd.
  12. AB, Did you find something? I just saw a pic of this on Bicycling magazine and looked it up. Looks like a perfect solution for you: https://crustbikes.com/products/clydesdale-fork/
  13. So now when someone asks, "does anyone have a corkscrew?" you have a story to tell after answering "In my ass"
  14. What trail are you doing? Are you having to go into Wisconsin?
  15. I saw tons of Delicas in BC a couple of weeks ago. Pretty cool diesel vans. Some had snorkels all were setup for camping.
  16. How's it going? Started rehab yet?
  17. That's how you order BBQ Chicken at SpringCreek BBQ up in Dallas.
  18. Paint that repair gold! https://mymodernmet.com/kintsugi-kintsukuroi/
  19. Yes, good point @notyal. I'm at 210lbs or so. At 160lbs I do think 4 spacers is too much.
  20. With that 140 and 4 spacers, I'd set the sag higher, maybe 30% or 33%. That's an easy change. Then just play with your bump and rebound before you go make more drastic changes. In fact, on my 100mm fork I plan on adding spacers just so I can start with more sag and not worry about bottoming out.
  21. My biggest decision-making as far as de-risk has to do with how essential I am to my family and my job. I do want to learn how to do some of those drops, etc. But I'm totally OK not doing that. I get my thrill doing the endurance XC long rides and training for them. I'll ask for an update in the injury thread.

  23. At $600 for a double butted CrMo bike it's hard for me not to get one. I don't need one....
  24. This reminds me... Anyone need a 1st gen HANS device? Never "tested".
