This. I borrowed it from a friend and built a shed using a framing gun and roofing gun. Not to mention seating tires and being ultra quiet. https://www.homedepot.com/p/California-Air-Tools-8-0-Gal-1-0-HP-Ultra-Quiet-and-Oil-Free-Electric-Air-Compressor-8010/206087284?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&mtc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-B-D25H-25_28_COMPRESSORS-NA-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Compressors_Smart&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-B-D25H-25_28_COMPRESSORS-NA-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-Compressors_Smart-71700000081377591-58700006924599093-92700062241781623&gclid=CjwKCAjwm7mEBhBsEiwA_of-TCy2sTBcIQJFVB25XveOlfQv9De-JebaJl5ofG1uWqfzyriRgIZPghoCcFAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

When I first heard about this and booked my site there were only a handful of spots reserved. I know about 8 people personally that booked sites so I imagine about 75% of those sites reserved are mountain bikers for this event. Gonna be gnarly!

BCGB requires reservations now?!?!?!
Andrzej replied to kevinkiller's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
I spoke with a park ranger at the spyglass entrance yesterday. He said the reservations are only for the main entrances to keep crowds low at those access points. They do not check reservation stubs once you enter the Greenbelt. If you enter before 1030 or at any other entrance not listed you do not need a reservation. He said ride all day and enjoy the trails, just respect people’s space.- 84 replies

Yes they are. I’ve asked before and the park rangers said they are allowed but not many people ride them because they are difficult so they don’t advertise them as bike trails. I think they’re worth doing a loop if you’re camping there.

Commuter tires 29" need recommendations
Andrzej replied to AustinBike's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
I bought some panaracer gravel kings 700x50 and set them up tubeless on 29” rims on my karate monkey and they spin great. I just think it looks funny because the KM is meant to have a wider tire on it. I’m actually thinking about getting rid of them and going with Surly Extraterrestrial 29x2.5. If you’re interested in them let me know. -
Odd Things You See on Trails...
Andrzej replied to RidingAgain's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Don’t know them. They were there with a photographer doing some kind of photo shoot so I asked them if I can snap a pic as well. I try to get one strava pic per ride to define my ride. This was it. -

So......I’ve got an extra wheel set for my karate monkey that I’d like to put some gravel bike tires on. Looking to set it up to ride some road, town lake gravel trails and some single track. I’m thinking 700c x 40? Currently looking at Maxxis Rambler or WTB Riddler. I have no experience with gravel bikes. Thoughts on tires?

Both kind of. My hightower had a crack so Santa Cruz warrantied it for a Hightower 2 frame. BSS is doing the swap.

I’m picking up my bike at BSS on Parmer tomorrow afternoon. Looking to get out and ride around 2 or 3 and could use a tour of all this new stuff if anyone is interested. It’s been a while since I’ve ridden up there.

This is around the time Desert Fest was. My guess is some people just kept up with the tradition of going. I would’ve been up there last week also if I didn’t have a previous commitment.

Looking for some used 29er gravel tires to throw on a wheel set for my karate monkey during these Rainy days. Gonna give this gravel bike thing a try.

I can use some throw down pedals.

Cross Training / General Health & Fitness

I used to do 12 week programs off bodybuilding.com that really did whip me into shape and had a great effect on my riding. I want to find another program similar to that but mountain bike specific. If I have a plan written out for me I’ll have a much better chance of sticking with it. Does anyone know of a good MTB strength training program that includes rides and interval training available for download? Seems like there are a few ads I’ve seen on Instagram and Facebook. -
Yes. If you hit the emergency button on your locked screen (iPhone) a medical tab pops up that you can enter information in and tag an emergency contact in as well. That contact can be called with your phone without unlocking it.

If you haven't been to Cameron Park lately....

I’d be interested. Post up when you plan on going. -
Congrats! You’re gonna love it!

I own a 2018 Hightower and have loved it. Big enough travel for Bike Parks and still a lot of fun in BCGB. Very versatile. I’ve heard this new version is even better.

Agreed. I walked latta Greenbelt this evening and most trails were tacky with just a couple of wet spots. One day of sun shine should expose some hero dirt!
