  2. I'm sold! I got the GS-1 and did 3 laps on PP during the race today and got 3 PRs. Normally I would need to stop 1/3-1/2 of the way through and recover from the numbness in my hands, especially my right hand. Today the numbness was 98% gone. It came on much slower and I was able to relax my grip without loosing control or slowing down. If I was consciously keeping my grip more relaxed the numbness wouldn't come back. I had them angled pretty high, felt great while standing, a little odd while sitting but not bad.

  3. The race on Peddlers Pass is tomorrow!!! Peddlers Pass will be closed to the public all day Saturday. Marshals will be placed at all entry points to keep the race course clear and safe. If you're not racing, come out and support your fellow mountain bikers, then ride the other 22 miles of sweet Brushy Creek Single Track. https://www.facebook.com/events/257174378553734/ Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but there's a swag giveaway for the juniors (we'll be pulling names out of a hat at the awards ceremony). Here are some interesting things about the trail and race: It's the 1st Mountain Bike race held in Cedar Park. It's the 1st Mountain Bike Time Trial race in Central Texas. It's the 1st flow trail specifically designed for Mountain Bike's built by machines on public land in Texas. Over half of the people racing are 1st timers.

  6. Upgradeitis is very common among people who have been riding for some time. Absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade your bike. One thing to keep in mind when upgrading an older bike is to try and purchase upgrades that can swapped over to a newer bike should you get a case of new bikeitisšŸ˜

  7. I had 3 terrible laps but still had a blast. It was my first time trial of any kind. first lap I got there thinking I had plenty of time but the schedule got pushed up (people were getting all three laps as early as they could so everyone was done early). I had just put a new front tire and hadnā€™t even checked pressures. Turns out 6psi too high in front and 6psi too low in the back (thought I was going to burp the rear). Went out too hard yadda yadda yadda still my best lap at 17:00 (not my best PP lap by far). 2nd lap had right pressures paced better but still went too hard and thought I was going to die from the heat on the west side. Slowed down a bunch once I got back on the east side. 17:40 3rd lap I was well rested, I paced well and felt fast. On one of those rocky berms on the west side I low-sided, face plant, fingers wrists and right elbow hurt, ate some dirt but didnā€™t chip teeth. Took a couple of minutes at least to gather myself and straighten my seat. Got passed. Took it easy for a bit but then got going faster again. Felt cooler (lots more wind on the 3rd lap). Ended up 19:40. Faster than I thought all things considered which tells me that was probably my fastest lap. Being mostly endurance-focused I had a lot of learning to do, and I loved it. I canā€™t wait to do it again! Thanks Ronan, Todd and all involved in putting this race on!

  10. It's a chunk of fish. It looked like some one gutted a fish and left big bits.

  12. I thought that I might be faster on my hardtail but after trying it I was actually a minute slower then on my full squish.

  17. Handful of people out there dialing it in on PP. I just got back from testing the gravel grinder with 2.1s. Fast as shit on the east side, beat to hell on the west side. Overall a wash on total time with trail bike. Sticking to trail bike.

  18. For slow rock crawl rides I've been experimenting with setting my fork up extra soft, slow rebound, and extremely progressive. It makes the beginning of the travel very supple so it's easier to shove the wheel over that last obstacle at the end of a tough climb when you're out of momentum and position. I haven't got my spider mountain settings dialed yet, but I'm gravitating towards higher PSI and much less progressive, still with pretty slow rebound. My rear shock setup is less refined. PSI to set sag to exactly what Yeti recommends, curb test for rebound (erring on the slow side) and I 3D printed a bunch of spacers to experiment with until I was routinely using most of the travel. All compression damping always wide open.

  19. I already ordered the fork before I made this post. So time will tell if I wasted money like some of you are implying or not. It's definitely an interesting take though. I've been riding for 4-5 years now, but never really tinkered with my bikes as far as changing out components. Improving the rider has always been my primary goal. But I'm starting to feel the difference between budget components and the better stuff between riding friend's bikes and just upgrading components out of frustration with current components. I've also always been the type of person that has to learn from my own mistakes, while taking into account research and advice. Everyone seems to have different opinions so it's best for me to just give it a shot and have personal experience. I'll definitely report back on this thread how the new fork feels compared to my current. šŸ™‚

  20. LOL! Not the most popular neighbor at the yearly picnic I bet. Oopsie! This right here: In general, I think it's BS for the city to say you won't pay taxes but you will get no services in unincorporated areas. The reality is that EMS and AFD will respond where needed and when needed.

  21. Typical. Its just like everything else in this country, the transfer of wealth upward. I'm done with it
