  6. Good job. I'd guess 90% of the people who need to make lifestyle changes take it seriously for about 3-4 weeks then give up. Inertia is a bitch, glad you stuck with it.

  7. I just want to chime in here and say how awesome it is to see a thread only discussing trail work with 90% of the contributors being local trail builders. We have have a pretty good thing going here in Austin. I salute you all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. The doc that saved my ass credits the fact that I made the right lifestyle changes years earlier, and cycling is a big part of that.

  10. Congrats for sure on that 2nd chance! We've been dealing with a lot of mortality the last couple years, and it can come out of nowhere, for any one of us.

  12. Maybe... My favorite trails are some unspoken trails near my house at 2222 and 360. That is the vibe I am going for here. It's got some elevation, so lots of long contour run goat trail with switchbacks is the plan. The two long lengths are about 1200ft. Over 30 ac I think I can get close to 4 miles out there without getting redundant. From this main SS friendly trail I hope to add Chutes and Ladder style drop downs, so you could connect the long stretches with a shorter more straight down path to get to the bottom with more excitement. Once we get better bearings and more free time in Feb/March, I'll start marking trail. Then perhaps look for folks that want to drink beers and build trail. It's about 15 min from El Rancho Cima and is part of the Devils Backbone.

  16. What remained of the Saloon, which has been used as a pavilion and enclosed the bathroom and showers since the walls were removed and operation as Cafe/Saloon ceased, was taken down by the storm front moving through. Driving by it looked like a heap of rubble, I'll get some pics at the next opportunity. At a glance I suspect the bathrooms and infrastructure may be mostly okay under there, but the roof and its supports were blown toward the fence line behind the structure. Hopefully the facilities for hot water and such can be salvaged after cleanup.
