  1. Also, thanks for saying mountain lion so this thread doesn't go straight into the ditch like all of the others.... @spicewookie
  2. Wouldn't be surprised, I rode through some hog wallows last time I was there, probably easy picking for a hungry cougar.
  3. I've heard similar plus, they are <$30.
  4. No that's exactly how it's constructed, but the assembly is smooth and does not bind/stick until you put something between the pads.
  5. Had a new one today: Mechanical disc brakes that stick when squeezed anything more than a light drag. Older calipers so I did a full rebuild and got them working smoothly but it did not change anything. I tried it on the bench and the pads won't stick to each other (when adjusted all the way out) but if I put a rotor in between it sticks hard. I even sanded and cleaned up pads and cleaned up the rotor.
  6. Everything in my garage is on casters. We don't regularly park our cars inside but I can get them in within 12 minutes for hailstorms. My cars aren't nice but I really don't want to deal with the hassle of hail damage.
  7. I have an XT M-8000 11spd. Honestly I regularly forget to turn the clutch on but when I do I've never noticed it turning off. Is the lever moving, or is the clutch releasing? Mine is ~4 years old.
  8. Interested, do you have any pictures? (the original ones aren't loading)
  9. As my college prof said: "Everything flexes, even engines are flexible bags of metal."
  10. Note: Not reccomended for CF frames...
  11. Still need to even out the tension. I'm far from a wheel repairman but I think it will good enough for a kid. VID_33550320_024705_974.mp4
  12. Actually those clamps brought me basically right to the beginning of his video. I'm working the spokes now. It's getting closer and closer, but admittidally I've never done this for more than ~3/16" out of round.
  13. Did I mention I'm impatient/impulsive? I got the rim spinning freely, no longer rubbing on the frame. I know I'll have alot of spoke work to get it true, if possible. Open to the idea any tips before I bring out the torch/ run it over on the opposite side. 😂
  14. Picked up another Specialized Hotrock 20" with a taco'd rim. Either the youth was over shooting their landings or mom/dad ran over it with the minivan. The rear wheel spins but tire rubs hard on frame along a section, can be rotated 360° if forced through bent spot. Rest of the bike is solid, what would you guys do? Can the rim be saved? Replace the whole wheel? Replace a new rim?
