  1. Weird. I did the same route yesterday: Slaughter, that weird cutoff, 1826, Slaughter Creek loop, south to Boneyard. I didn't see any of yall. I always assumed that the blockade on the old road was for people dumping trash off 1826. I've cut through the the storage place parking lot too and they have a gate on the 1826 side. So either way you have to ride around someones gate. Unless you ride all the way to the end of Slaughter. ಠ_ಠ
  2. From the olden times: I still quote parts of this video on almost every ride.
  3. Nuun or gu tabs at home post ride. I don't like that stuff in my camelbak. I'll put it in a bottle for longer rides on the road bike. Especially if it's a supported ride and it's pre-mixed at a rest zone. I'll do gu shots, gummies, or even a granola bar to stay fresh on longer trail rides.
  4. I'm more south than north. That'd be a stretch to make after our meetings. RHR maybe but they might be about the same.
  5. Are you kidding me!? Client coming to town next week is a MTB guy. The only client to ever ask us to hit the trails instead of golf. I don't golf and never get to do this kind of thing so I say I got this. Now I gotta tell him maybe not because weather. He's ridding at home on fat tires in snow and will probably think I'm crazy for calling it for some light rain. (┛◉Д◉)┛┻━┻
  6. The 10 day forecast doesn't look great either. 😭
  7. I remember the sub 1K prices in the 90s and refuse to think of 3K as a budget bike. Maybe why my last 2 have been used. https://www.theproscloset.com/collections/bikes?tags=classification-bike-mountain&page=1&sort=price-ascending
  8. Imagine how much worse that crash would have been if he wasn't able to clip out in time. /s The photography on that is amazing.
  9. If you really want to nerd out on some soil data: https://websoilsurvey.nrcs.usda.gov/app/WebSoilSurvey.aspx
  10. I think I've got some space between the iPhone mount and the drink holder.
  11. Slalom is so shaded I'm not surprised. I will appreciate that in July when it's 100 degrees. Will Tuesday be a go then?
  12. I hate to devolve a perfectly relevant discussion but you asked and I can't help myself because I'm kind of an ass... Sorry in advance.
  13. I remember the last time you said it was a little wet. I fell in the creek and got lost in that muck behind the school. Sounds like a perfect job for the expendable bike! Which is convenient since the shop still has my main. I'll be there if I can get some pedals on and debug whatever issues the backup has before then.
  14. Heh, partscaster. I like that. I'm stealing it.
  15. @RedRider3141 *slow clap* that was beautiful
  16. Wow that's impressive. I'm only familiar with the mostly finished necks and bodies from places like Warmoth. Paint, bolt on, and add hardware. I don't have half the stuff or the space I'd need to do a body or neck like that. Someday maybe.
  17. Neat. So you did the neck/body and added a stock fingerboard? What at the pickups and how is that wired?
  18. The highlight of my MTB life was starting to go OTB but clipping out both feet hurdling the bars and landing standing up / running away as the bike wrecked behind me. I did not look back at the explosion because at that moment I felt as cool as Chuck Norris. I can clip out almost as fast as taking a foot off to dab but less inclined to do so unless alarm bells start ringing. For example I never drag the inner foot when the bike is hard over. I feel the loss of cool points in my soul for not being able to perform this move. It should be possible with clips but more research needs to be done. For science.
  19. You gotta just let it go. Let it go. Turn away and slam the door. ❄️ 🎶 Can't tell you how many veloway laps I did with that damn song stuck in my head.
  20. Thankfully I'm on a HT so I only worry about one end. Just enough technology for me to handle. I did notice my fork getting better over the summer after I set it up to the recommended pressure. Then it felt kind of dead and I ended up topping it off under what the sticker said for my weight but I think I got the magic back. I did see one of those Quarq ShockWiz gadgets in the shop. I wonder how close to feeling right that thing would get for someone who knows what they are looking for.
  21. I'd be lying if I said I could tell any difference in adjustments and settings other than the lockout. I'm just not talented enough to detect the differences. Watching a bike review talk about small bump sensitivity is akin to a sommelier talking about wine. All above my pay grade.
