  1. to survive brick and mortar also has to do online sales. If they do that they can get the volume they need to trim margins.
  2. Takes 2-3 days of sunny weather to dry out. Drains well, but a lot of rock is shaded.

I would do Jester/Duval. St eds is about an hour, thumper 1.5 hours, road is maybe 45 minutes.

    2018 EB

I was thinking that. October always seems to get a ton of rain. January allows people to get ready for the start of the TMBRA series as well (which I think starts in feb).
  5. I price bikes as 20% off MSRP than 15%/year. A 15 year old bike is worth about 9% of the original MSRP
  6. paste the ad. They go away quick. This forum is much better about images. You can take a screen capture (on a mac it is cmd-ctrl-shift-4, then paste it straight into the upload window.
  7. ive been using a wahoo kickr. It lets you train using power levels (like output 220w for 1 hour) and has the added ability to not get hit by a car. You can find them used for 600-700 and you can either throw your bike on it or put any cheap spare bike on it.
  8. the current version is easier than the original.
  9. I had the same experience. I passed a couple of guys I know pretty well at city park, never saw them again, and they were at the finish before me. It was no big deal as I just wanted to finish for myself. I wouldnt bother to ride it again, but I want a sweet yeti tumbler with the EB logo.
  10. anyone know if the call has been made to go to the rain day?
  11. pretty amazing we got 10-11 inches west of austin which was perfect for the watershed. Travis is now at 696 (681 is full, 714 is dam topped) they did predict an el nino year which are wetter than average.
  12. doubt this is it, but here is one thing to try related to the freestroke adjustment. Unscrew the freestroke screw, then bleed the brakes, then screw the freestroke in (I guess it displaces fluid to increase the pressure a tiny bit). When you say you pump up and down do you mean you pushing fluid up from the caliper syringe up to the lever into the screw in cup? Are you pulling and pushing the plunger from the caliper to get air out of both sides?
  13. if I was riding a muddy trail to inspect it and someone confronted me about it I would tell them they are 100% right and good on them for working to protect the trail.
  14. i mainly like to kitesurf, mountain biking is a way for me not to get totally fat while waiting for the wind.
  15. the bike is cheap because of the parts. Frames are not that big of a deal if they have the geometry that works for you. If you upgrade the parts you can move them over to a new bike anyway. Even then cheap parts are often durable, just heavy. The fork and a dropper would be the main things to upgrade. I like full suspension because it lets me be lazy. But I also have a hardtail too. I had a terrible freebie bike. I committed to riding that 10 times before buying a new bike. At 450 miles it seems like you are committed to the sport so if you get a more expensive bike you would ride it. The only time an expensive bike is not worth it is if you never ride it and end up selling it in like new condition. Regarding the thread above of hardtail vs FS. For me they ride the same except on the hardtail I have to stand a lot more because any rough terrain is uncomfortable. On the FS I get to sit a lot more. The hardtail is my backup bike and I also like it because it is one less complicated thing to maintain on the bike. I do feel a big difference in 29 vs 26 though. With a 29 you can just ride over all the rocks without having to do anything with the front. With a 26 you have to constantly work the front and pick your lines. So all the people that are saying FS is like cheating should go back to their single speed 26" and really have to work.
  16. dont want to go into the details because of pending litigation. (also Im not from california)
  17. If someone fences in or otherwise takes your land without your permission for long enough they can own it. It is more complicated than this short explanation, but you can google it.
  18. we definitely want more riders to keep the trail tamped down and to help monitor for trespassers, but the jumps are dangerous so we need ppl to be covered. There is quite a bit of cross country stuff (long hill climbs) but seth cant seem to help putting in big drops everywhere 🙂 Neighbor is trying to do adverse possession so we are depending on riders to report any encroachment by neighbors via fence lines, illegal cutting of trees, and theft/vandalism.
  19. Trails have been wet pretty much for a month now. My training is completely blown, what have people been doing to train? Are people still trying to train?
