  1. So here's the deal. This is such a common issue that there's a Buddhist parable about it from thousands (!) of years ago. As I relate this, I'll add in words parenthetically to make it relevant to the topic at hand. A monk (mountain biker) is irritated by the presence of a bucket of dirty water (poop bags) and a mop (trash) by the door to the meditation hall (trail). Day after day, going in to meditate, he'd be so annoyed and think, "Why doesn't somebody empty this bucket (pick up poop bags) and put the mop (trash) away? It's ruining my meditation." Of course, he has a MAJOR epiphany and realizes that if he's annoyed by it, he can address the issue by emptying the bucket and putting away the mop, which he does, and thereby becomes a much, much happier monk (mountain biker). We can all clutch pearls, whinge and carry on, endlessly fret about all the awful people who are harsh-ing our mellow, but if you don't take action by cleaning it up yourself, it will still be there bothering you. In case you are still wondering, this will not change, ever. That's just how it is, unless you live in the city-state of Singapore, which has insanely draconian laws against littering, spitting, selling gum and other innocuous activities. 10 Weird Laws in Singapore

  2. Doing hardwood in living, halls, bathroom and dining areas & faux ceramic brick for the kitchen. Had a massive 3/8 hump in the middle of our living room and an equally low spot in front of the door. They spent an entire day grinding a filling it all in to get 1/16 total variation. So far ive been really happy with the flooring company https://www.facebook.com/SoleilFloors/

  3. Yea, I was out there walking at 2:30 in between meetings. Should be okay to ride tomorrow morning. Shaded parts of Quarter were slick, like almost busted my ass walking slick. East side of Quarter was sloppy still but should just be tacky tomorrow morning. Picnic was rideable. Creek crossings will muddy, but no surprise. I plan to be out there early tomorrow morning and plan to post a full report.

  4. They did. It's just disguised under "wildlife protection " Good ole Texas. What isn't private land is corporate land and what isn't either those are wildlife protection zones. What we are left with is thin slivers of greenspace here and there. Mostly in spots that can't be built upon. Yay Texas. One day I'll be able to escape being trapped here and move to where you can get some space. This is about the best locally we can hope for. https://www.chron.com/life/article/100-mile-nature-trail-links-San-Antonio-Austin-15890912.php Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk

  5. I've seen this when there was an issue with my rear quick-release axle. I'm suspecting you don't have quick release skewers but check that spacer that is pressed against the frame by the axle. That had cracked on mine and resulted in a little tick that drove me nuts for a few rides.

  6. the last time I chased a noise like that, it was a slightly under-torqued pedal. I'd start by just checking that pedals, chainring bolts, crank bolts, etc are all sufficiently torqued.

  7. I may have some spare cones laying around if the LBS is a no go. Let me know the width you need and I can go and measure. I also have a spare 700c QR hub wheel laying around. The rim might be too narrow for a MTB but it’s something.

  8. My second bike was this gloriously heavy nonsense... Either a b'day or xmas gift, I don't recall.

  9. My wife has no desire to bike, or camp. She also doesn't mind when I go on week long adventures so it works out. I have a shell on my truck, and a tent that fits over the open shell and tailgate. This is about as glamorous as it gets for me.

  10. Pflugerville has a BMX track, not really too small kid friendly. Took my kids out for a begginer clinic and none made it past the first straight away without tears of fear. Was talking with the operator and they recently spent 5 million revamping it so they could host UCI world cups. I hope they do well, but when I was kid the 5-8 year old age range were the biggest classes and I don't know how a track makes enough money without having those classes full.

  17. Parquet and asbestos are no more. Definitely an odd sensation seeing it stripped to the slab, and the residual chemical odor is pretty strong.

  18. **UPDATE Recent Fences/trail closures at Brushy Creek and the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park**. 1. The cedar fence placed near the "YMCA waterfall" was required after a dam inspection by the TCEQ. The hiking trail leading to the area below the waterfall was never designed to be there. The erosion it is causing raised concerns about future dam integrity, so the TCEQ required a fence be placed blocking the trail. 2. The County will be building a fence blocking the new unsanctioned dangerous "drop in" on picnic next to the footbridge. ARR Trail Stewards and volunteers have been trying to block it with brush, but people keep unblocking it. The County in coordination with ARR have agreed to block it permanently with a fence. 3. The unsanctioned MTB trails at the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park were recently fenced off. This happened following an inspection by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife dept. During their inspection they found endangered species and endangered habitat. They required the area to be fenced off.

  19. So I pulled it apart last night and did a little google research! And this particular freehub body seems to have a limited life span varying between 1k and 2.5k miles depending on what forum post you read. And replacing the freehub body only costs about $14, so it's essentially disposable. Only problem is it's sold out/backordered every place I looked! Ended up ordering a marginally higher end freehub body that appears to fit the spline on the hub for $25 on Amazon. Keeping fingers crossed it works, but if it doesn't easy return and my friend keeps getting to ride my 2nd bike😁
