  1. Found some shades on peddlers, left them on the tree.
  2. A little bit better. I just did the middle. Not sure how deep you wanted to sweep for rocks. That pile is 50/50 dirt and rocks so I just tossed what popped out when I swept my hands over the surface.
  3. Sounds like a great way to warm up mid-ride on a cold day like today.
  4. Thanks for the replies (posts and PMs). Some suggested I post some of my specialties since Mechanical Engineering Positions do vary. My background is in commercial vehicles, past roles have been split between project management and design. I've worked on anything from plastic interior components to metal frame brackets and exterior components such as hoods, bumpers, grilles and fairings. I'm trained in Design for Six Sigma and various CAD packages. This is a rough town for ME's with my background but I'm hopeful that I'm searching regularly but if you have anything within your company, I'd appreciate the heads up. Meanwhile, I'll see you out on the trails!
  5. Just found out that myself and a few of my co-workers got laid off today due to a slow down in our sector. I've been scoping job boards but since networking is the new thing I thought I'd try the my local MTB community. If any of y'all's companies are hiring mechanical engineers I'd love to connect. Cheers!
  6. As someone who also thinks about running into snakes in dark tunnels, thanks for giving me something else to ponder as I enter the darkness...
  7. This was shot with a drone, at least partially.
  8. I dunno, I enjoying having some where so close to home where I can get "lost" and explore my way out. SN has been a gift that keeps giving every time I ride it.
  9. I was curious if they were still on sale today and searched for them and found several of their lights are on sale:
  10. For those who are curious, my Grandma's town is the "oldest planned community for retired persons in the US": http://www.ryderwood.org/
  11. I use this feature and "relock" it before transporting it in my pack to make sure it doesn't accidentally turn on.
  12. My Grandma lived in a 55+ community until recently. The town (yes it's a whole town) was sued a few times by current owners wanting to be able to sell to <55 year old buyers. Market for those communities are extremely limited.
  13. Amazon is having a decent sale on the NR Lumina 1100 Boost. I have the 950 version myself and like it alot. On dawn/dusk rides it's my only light, on full night rides its my secondary (helmet light). https://www.amazon.com/NiteRider-Lumina-Boost-Headlight-Black/dp/B071LRBF78/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=B071LRBF78&qid=1576080562&s=sporting-goods&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=1-1
  14. Then there's me... (Year 0-3) Buy a top line bike, ride multiple times per week, eventually ride it down to a nub. (Year 3-4) Sell it to someone who milks the worn out components for another year. (Year 4-9, AKA ME!) Sell it to some poor sucker who is just getting into MTB'ing and doesn't mind/doesn't know that they are riding a bike with sacked components from the PO spares bin because it is 10X better than their department store MTB they came from (Year 10-14) Instead of selling it, invest 2X what it's worth in new components and ride it, wondering at what point do you cut your loses and invest in a new bike...
  15. I was thinking the same thing! Better/ easier for someone to learn on too!
  16. I was hoping to take my oldest out on fri/sat but looks like weather will delay it. I didn't know that there was already trails there. I just heard about that area from the RR survey that was recently posted. Once she gets adjusted to the new bike I'll be sure to let you know next time we hit the trails, I'd love to see the Beherns trails.
  17. Lisin' here sonny, I thought that this thread had already veered into the ditch, now you go and pull it out and fill it with actual "facts".
  18. Picked up a new bike for my girls. They've been super pumped to "Go Mountain Bike Riding with Daddy" ever since they came to watch the Peddler's Pass Race in June and saw other girls/women racing. They were blown away that "Girls can ride too?!?". Right, now my youngest (3.5) just got off a strider and is peddling with training wheels, she's already standing up saying she's ready for the trails. My Oldest (6) has been off training wheels for a year and did a powerline trail on her beach cruiser, barely, that thing is a tank. I think she'll do better on this:
  19. I gar-un-tee that the moon boots Lance Armstrong wore on the moon were size 9.5 not 42-43.
  20. 26"?!?! MY TIME HAS COME! I'm still running 26x2.35" F/R Kenda Nevegals because they worked well where I used to live, they haven't worn out yet and I'm too cheap to buy new tires. For my riding ability, they still work well here. On my 27.5" bike I run a WTB Trail Boss (F) and Ikon (R). I've been real happy with that combo. I did borrow a front wheel/tire from shine rider for the PP time trial. I didn't even notice until later it was an Ardent that everybody loves/ hates. I had no issues with it for the "race". It got me a PR of 19min on race day. I remember the Mondraker demo day I rode a bike with a DHF. The dirt was as tacky as it could be without sticking to tires and it would ride SO SLOW through the softspots. Almost like dragging my brakes.
  21. I don't understand. Tesla's other cars have been decent looking especially when compared to other electric vehicles, who seem to have a history of looking different for no reason; which I think has contributed to a slow adoption rate by consumers. The model S, X and 3 have all been "normal" enough for the masses. Cybertruck on the other hand is terrible or is it... GENIUS! I think they realized who was going to be buying an e-pickup. It's the kind of person who already has a Range Rover that's never even touched a dirt road, much less any true work. They're going to sell a bunch around Austin...
