  1. This thread took a turn that seemed promising, then reverted back on its original track. Hopefully I can set things right here with a simple question. Have you narrowed down the selection of what features you want on the bike that will be attached to the replacement shock you'll purchase? 😈
  2. ... but wait, there's more ... https://amazon.com/s?k=decorative+duct+tape&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 https://www.duckbrand.com/products/duck-tape/prints/starry-galaxy-188-in-x-10-yd
  3. Put some decorative duct tape around the top tube at the contact point. 🤣
  4. How would I reserve one of those as a volunteer arriving late afternoon on Saturday? I've signed up for the last sweep on Sunday, and if I can have a spot I could fill in elsewhere earlier in the day.
  5. You had me at "Shiny" Amazing what a little motivation will do. IN P.S. Will the festivities be at the pavilion or the parking lot?
  6. The title is wrong, that there is a "Push Me Pull You" I remember seeing one in Dr. Dolittle.
  7. Will there be a reverse-steering, reverse-pedaling Tandem category?
  8. I know this story about an extended MTB trip with an old guy, a young guy and two more making up the middle of the age range. They rode many trails across four states, attended a bike fest, and made it back without anyone being hurt or killed (by one another) after being cooped up for long hours in a car. But, you already know that story and it might not be all that inspirational. Never mind.
  9. I heartily agree that buying a new chain is always the better choice. As long as you have that choice. I suppose this was more about understanding what keeps it together, in case knowing that might get you back on the bike rather than walking beside it. My suggestion was more of "what to do if you have no other choice" than anything else. I've done it trailside once, using what I had with me. After it coming loose the first go, without any attempt to flare the ends. It worked, and got me back to the car.
  10. Essentially, he proved what Newton theorized. Objects with different mass will fall at the same rate when aerodynamic drag is the same. Or, it might just mean he's a witch.
  11. Aiming for Hipsters with more money than good sense?
  12. You can take a punch or a drift and tap the end of the pin to flare it out a little. With the other end of the pin pressed firmly against some sort of anvil, of course. Consider how the pin is really a rivet and it doesn't take much expansion on the end to prevent it moving.
  13. I got an email from Fiskars confirming that they have shipped something to me. Odd thing is that I had received the last warranty replacement lopper I had put a claim in on. I own two or three of them and other Fiskars tools. Some of which are in a state that I could probably send in a claim for, as I've done several times over the years. Maybe they are doing pre-emptive replacement on my stuff now. Edit: The package arrived and inside was a 15" Power Gear lopper. Correction, the label now calls it a Super Lopper.
  14. When I first was reading the bit about the rock I was all ready to post up suggesting you look in your pack for the part. Remembering the time you were packing a derailer (Sheldon Brown spelling) that someone needed and writing up how incredulous folks were when it was needed and you whooped it out on them. Looks like you beat me to it by confessing to likely having the chain ring (and most of the rest of several bikes) in your pack. 😀
  15. You might want to take a page from Lorena ... and BOB it.
  16. Just wait until the Binford version is released. Moooore power.
  17. Considering Texas' first and second "Mountain Bike Ranches" (Bluff Creek and Rocky Hill) have been around for thirty years, it is evidence that the creation of trail on private land isn't new to the state. Great video and some awesome riding. It is good that y'all hooked up to show him the goods and get Texas as one of his stops on this newest set of trail builder focused documentary.
  18. At least you weren't up a creak without a pedal.
  19. Finally got around to clearing that last 40 feet or so of the Super Secret Switchback trail. Two hours later... I went on to finish a short ride. Paul says the flowers in the back meadow past Omar's are in bloom and photo-worthy. Conditions are dry but not dusty, yet.
  20. There might be one or two things to consider. This site may be helpful. http://sheldonbrown.com/
  21. Isn't the correct nomenclature for "making a personal shortcut for a race" what many refer to as "cheating" in the parlance of our times?
