  1. Do people think someone will come around to pick it up? I was riding through a very nice neighborhood on the way to some trails once and saw an older lady maybe 60+ drop a poop bag in the gutter. Without really thinking I asked is she was going to leave it there as I rode by (not snottilly, more just in a reflex confused tone). She instantly got pissed and cussed me out, I think I ended up telling her to F off or something (my bad). I felt really bad afterwards. I think she was even with her mom. The older lady must have been in her 80s'.
  2. Tour de France - I have NBC Sports Gold and Flobikes so I get to see most of the big road races as well as cyclocross and some mountain biking. Been a tough restart to the year, a lot of bad crashes. Most horrific was Remco Evenepoel. He is a 20 year old Belgian that has the potential to be one of the all time greats. This reminds me of a conversation in another thread about someone with little skill being able to keep up offroad on an e-bike. It is what I call 'New Speed'. I have a super strong roadie buddy who raced Cat 2 and won the State Championship easily having just started riding offroad. He was super strong but had no skill. He would crash every race (8 times once!) and still won the race. While this kid is a true phenom and far from unskilled, he was descending a mountain with some of the best descenders in the world who have been doing this for many more years. Scary.
  3. This is what happens if you leave a bike on the Railroad tracks.
  4. I was out from about 8 to 10 but it was still really nice. Nice to rediscover some of that 20-30% of my power that seemed to have disappeared around May or June when things really started heating up.
  5. I was eating some pretty damn good chicken fajitas while reading this and suddenly they didn't seem nearly as good. 😞
  6. I think so. I need to invest in something like this...
  7. Was that on your porch when I pickup up the chainring bolts? I was thinking that is what it was. If not, what was the contraption on your porch? I actually meant to ask you that. 🤔
  8. Is Barton Creek even swimmable at any of the holes right now? I haven't checked them out in some time.
  9. Bull Creek is fine if you don't mind dirty diapers left behind and makeshift restrooms (#2) 15' off the creek in the bushes. It is quite sad and infuriating at the same time.
  10. You can't actually address people that cause problems anymore. Haven't you been paying attention?
  11. I am sure that whole area will be blocked off and access from one side to the other will be tough for quite an extended period though. ☹️
  12. Looks like some very effective birth control.
  13. RE: Arrested Development The rebooted Netflix stuff isn't very good. The old lady is ready to bail but I may stick it out, although I rarely laugh and find myself multi-tasking on my phone. The mild racism/stereotyping seems to have increased as well. I thought the original stuff was MUCH better.
  14. Thanks for the heads up Ron, I have a few on the way.
  15. This thread made me look up a video my buddy made of a bikepacking trip we did in Big Bend Ranch State Park back in 2010. From talking to and trying to get info from the rangers and Mike Long at Desert Sports, I think we were among the first to do a big multi day ride out there. We had to make our own gps route from the topos. That was a total blast.
  16. Why don't you get the SWAT box that fits on your Epic frame? They are kind of pricey (I've seen used ones on eBay), but it keeps everything low and out of the way. I love the SWAT stuff.
  17. Big Bend is about the same distance as NM. Ft Davis will be a little cooler and only about 6.5 hrs, but nothing too spectacular, especially since the Observatory is closed. We were actually there the first week of March when the COVID stuff was just getting started. It was cold AF during the Star Party and there were a couple hundred of us (from who knows all where) packed in there.
  18. Crumpton Cycles Super sweet custom carbon roadie/gravel rigs.
  19. I third the suggestion. Cloudcroft is close by and may offer more seclusion/higher altitudes, although the riding is only mediocre from what I am aware of. Taking the drive down to Alamagordo is kind of cool. Drops over 4000' in like 20 miles. Some cool terrain along the way. I have only been to the area a handful of times and mostly about 20 years ago so will defer to others if Cloudcroft is worth a visit over Ruidoso. I think ATXZJ used to live in the vicinity? And definitely check forest conditions, the first time we were there they pretty much shut it down due to fire danger right after we left.

    Madrone

A few years ago I would have thought that was a great idea.

Do I have to get all my miles at Canyon Lake?
  22. This part doesn't sound positive: By extending the road, the city will open inaccessible land to future development.
  23. The color in the picture is pretty accurate. It was tan/beige/copper colored.
