  1. Never met the fellow, to my knowledge. No great loss.
  2. You’d think after a million posts, he might have said farewell.
  3. Nice shot of Absolute! Did you ride Chicken Dinner? I own a piece of land right across the river from the final descent.
  4. Columbine Mountain Bike Trail, Leadville North, Colorado (mtbproject.com)
  5. Ouch! Those high-speed, unexpected wipeouts can be the worst. When I converted my Tallboy from 29 to 27.5 format - and in every respect it's a better bike - I had to go through a period of adjustment to stop having hard pedal strikes and bottom bracket impacts, often resulting in a sudden, unexpected dismount. I now ride with a higher tire pressure and a little more air in the rear shock, and all is good. There's a circular root out at Suburban Ninja at the perfect height to catch your bike shoe in - I have to remember it's there every time I take this innocent little turn, and one day it's gonna get me. Heal up, man.
  6. That's exactly where I was yesterday morning - didn't spot any critters, though.
  7. Ah - I assumed you rode to the ride! Way more convenient than shuttling!
  8. I wouldn't call that abbreviated, unless you skipped the mandatory post-ride beer in town (I like to go to Benson's).
  9. It's no wonder the BC thread has almost ten times the number of posts as the R&I thread 😞 This would never have happened back on Mojo!

I have a whole effen house to build ...
  11. Sorry to miss you - we had gone over to COTA to see Beyond Van Gogh, and boy was I glad that big tent is decently air-conditioned.

    Euro 2020

Not all, but as 'European' fans go, they are kind of up there - principally the English and the Scots, just to be clear.

    Fish n Chips

I happened past the Draught House this afternoon, and Justin's food trailer (owned by them) was open. Fish n Twice Fried Frites Belges!

  15. No. And to respond to AB, it‘s pretty much one guy maintaining the trails, and $10 isn’t a lot to pay, especially when $0 of that goes to the guy doing all the work. End of an era.
  16. Plus, that guy seriously needs to use a grammar / spell checker. I’m gonna assume English is not first language.
  17. I grew up in Belgium, and we used to ride our 5-speed bikes to school, crossing plowed fields in the rain and what not. Years later, I realized that this was the origin of cyclocross!
  18. Let me know ahead of time - I'll ride over and join you.
  19. Chips are considerably larger than fries, and are double-fried in a different oil than is used in the US. It's rare that you find chips done properly in the US. However, one place that does decent Belgian fries is the food trailer at the Draught House.
  20. I really don't think it will be better - 1,000 acres will be sold, and only 300 will remain. Most of the fun flowly stuff in the woods will be gone.
  21. I usually find there is an inverse correlation between the authenticity of fish and chips and the 'Englishness' which whatever the pub is claims. This was certainly the case with the ill-fated Bennigan's and the Lion & Rose. I haven't yet visited 'Nosh & Bevvy' on Burnet, but I'm not holding my breath.
  22. From Paul Uhl: With a very heavy heart, I have to let rider's know that the back 1000 acre's at Rockyhill Ranch did sell. They will be putting up signs to keep rider's/runner's out pretty soon. On a good note! The new owner is going to let me have one last "Fat Chucks Final Revenge", using all the back trails in late December this year. We will be creating some more trails on the front 300 acre's. I'm planning on having some marked before I leave for the Summer. So if you are interested in helping cut some new trails at the ranch. Let me know!
  23. I'm a stickler for proper fish n chips, which I've not been able to find in Austin - at least, not both fish battered properly AND chips not fries, both on the same plate. Do I need to go check out this place?
  24. Wow - sounds like a career-limiting move for someone.
