  1. They are heavy and a bit of overkill for many trails here. [emoji2201]
  2. they are great now, but it all depends on what happens tomorrow. it’s supposed to rain in the morning and then clear out. if we get quarter inch, should be okay within a day or so. if more, it’s likely going to take until saturday or sunday
  3. but they put fake paw prints on the other sections. at the least they could have just left it, no?
  4. Couldn’t they have just used a bit of concrete in tracks and smoothed it over? Or, just leave it? They really needed to tear it all out?
  5. Went past a group of 4-5 police ATVs on BCGB main trail last week— they were stopped and it was near that ledge. I’m glad if they’re planning on having a presence so as to have some semblance of enforcement of any laws. But the trail damage has to add up.
  6. Yeah need more of the failure vids to help show the actual risk. Way too many vids with people riding high risk stuff with impunity- distorts the reality. It’s like golf coverage way back when they only showed the best shots. I loved it when with Tiger they began showing whole rounds. A very different perspective.
  7. Albert, how was route from terminus of SWC bike path to Walnut Creek park? I’ve often wanted to find a decent way there for a loop but nothing looks that safe on maps. So, I usually back track down SWC path to the Y and then take 51st to airport and then Northloop back to Shoalcreek. However, there is no way currently to cross 183 at 51st. They are building a pedestrian and bike bridge there that will be nice. And, 51st is protected bike lane.
  8. It’s just a 4 wheeled e-bike. Jeeez, such bias against e-bikes in the mtb community.
  9. Great, can I just swing by your place about 5:25-- assuming we're riding over there.

  11. First timer wanting to join in. I’ve had some near misses but never made it. Gotta get bike and gear now tho and leave from office. Is urban ride confirmed, or is walnut ready? Gotta have right bike!

  13. As early adopter of 29 wide-ish (29 id ) rims, found that 2.4-2.4 tires were too squared off and sidewalls wore thin on our rocks, prematurely killing 3 back tires before the wt and skinny fat tires were really out. Loving the 29 2.5 WT and 2.6 size tires. I’m a clyde and that does need to factor in. Currently with Rekon 2.6 out front and Bonty 2.6 XR2 in back to go lighter and with less rolling resistance . Previously was running DHF 2.5 WT 3c in front and Nobby Nic 2.6 in back. Prefer the Nobby Nic as back tire for better braking and overall grip.
  14. heading there over txgiving. where is swopes? last year rode shawnee mission park and really liked that place.
  15. I have to agree wholeheartedly. Don’t even know the person involved- but repeatedly doing the above was unacceptable. This is true for me in all situations. But even those who may be okay with “locker room talk” would have to agree this is a public forum, not a locker room. Actually wish this was big part of reason for being banned, along with attacking people. Maybe it can be going forward. Plenty of fun and humor exists without crossing those lines.
  16. Ya, I think I saw an elderly woman with a walker pass me going up the sidewalk, but she was going a bit too fast for me to be certain.
  17. Yup, humidity was stifling. No way I would have made the hills in the sun. As it was, I stopped at CP and then again at Walnut.
  18. Went early. Had a good ride- tho dang that humidity-100%-foggy. Didn’t make 2nd Courtyard hill but did make city park, jester, and yaupon so I’m pleased. Thanks for virtually riding together! It did help motivate me.
  19. Thanks for posting, but will likely miss -I have a commit and either have to be back before 10:30 or wait to start until about 10am. I may pave the way early!
  20. Thanks for all the input. Sounds like my Rekon front and XR2 will work. It will feel much lighter than my current setup. I’m not terribly hard on tires at all- don’t gash sidewalls etc. - and used to ride 2.35 Ikon rear but didn’t like lack of breaking control, probably function of my weight. I have always preferred higher volume tires. I remember riding a 26x2.4 Nevegal back in the day (liked volume but dang that rolling resistance was high) and when moved to 29 I remember a guy on the greenbelt asking why I was riding “downhill” tires - 2.4 Ardents! Fell in love with 2.6 when Nobby Nics came out.
  21. I’m riding in this event and have ridden Ouachita area (Womble, LOViT) but never ridden in Bentonville. What tires would those with experience recommend? I’m going to try and complete the 50 mile event and I’m 200lb without gear. I ride FS 29er and current setup is DHF 2.5 front and Nobby Nic 2.6 on rear. Have available - Bonty XR2 Team Issue and Maxxis Rekon EXO both 2.6. I was thinking of putting Rekon in front (tried but don’t like it as a rear because of ramped center nobs = poor breaking) and XR2 in rear but worry that may not be enough grip and or toughness. Other thought-getting Maxxis Aggressor 2.5 for rear and putting Nobby Nic on front.
