the same problem exists for shuttle runs: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/213526947-Remove-segments-for-shuttling-uplifts ignoring segments would be a relatively easy option for strava to add, but they don't seem interested.

The Strava Segment shows 2.76 miles. The route hasn't changed really since summer time, maybe a few extra turns near the road. it shouldn't be shorter. https://www.strava.com/segments/20095958?filter=overall

Helmet pads, who needs them?
circuitbreaker replied to mack_turtle's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
pretty sure they are just for comfort. i do not wear a cap, so the pads make the plasticy bits more comfortable. -
A Little Publicity For CenTX...
circuitbreaker replied to RidingAgain's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Inks lake state park is a great place to camp/swim/boat/fish. the trails are not really long enough to bother bringing a bike. -
FYI, if Flat Creek is closed, just ride Perdernales Falls. Its right next door and has about 30 miles of trails.
-
i would assume you need a long bed to use the insta-gater?
-
i just put my bike in the truck bed.

if you are headed to deception, then you can take Lakeline/Neenah west and then a right on Staked Plains which dead ends into a trailhead. if you are headed to peddlers pass, then Parmer would certainly be the fastest route.
-
Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully the bikes are ok 😉

Also, there are also a number of downed trees crossing the trail, but seems like these were left of purpose. just have to ride over them. on the climb out, there is power line (not hot) hanging down across the trail, but its easy to avoid. i meant to go back and get the tower number, but haven't had a chance. one big plus - the creek is completely dry, so i was able to ride all the creek crossings for the first time.

Anyone Riding an Ibis Mojo 3?
circuitbreaker replied to Charlie193's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
i enjoyed riding all the ibis range during their last demo day, including the Mojo 3. its a capable trail bike. i would check with cycle progression or velorangutan to see if they have a demo available. -
Thanks for sharing. i was not aware of this policy. sounds like the check-in people are not particularly aware of it yet either. More details from Delta: Bicycles Bicycles, non-motorized touring or single seat racing, are allowed as checked baggage on most flights, with the exception of certain Delta Connection® carriers. Standard baggage allowance and fees based on cabin and travel region apply Bicycles weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee If the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm) or exceeds 100 lbs, the item will not be accepted Items in excess of baggage allowance will be subject to additional or overweight baggage fees A limited liability release form must be signed by the passenger in the case that the bike is not properly packed If the bicycle is packaged in a hard shell case specifically designed for transporting bicycles, then a limited release form is not required If the bicycle is packaged in a soft sided travel bag or anything other than a hard shell case, a limited release form will need to be signed Delta is not responsible for damage noted at the time of check in or damage due to over packing the bag.

not sure about brushy specifically, but bmx pegs can cause a lot of damage on unarmored coping. Also, the liability is greater for bikes.

Regarding Gilligan's Playground, not sure if it helps, but here's our ride from a few weeks ago. Seemed like we found most of what's out there, but i don't remember seeing a boat. https://www.strava.com/activities/2736283130 I really liked the jump line, found it much more approachable than the one behind peddlers.

Rode Emma Long for the third time since the direction change this week, and i have to say the trail seems to be riding really well. While there are still some issues with puddles and erosion, it is way better than pre-direction change. Most of the climbs are manageable and are being maintained well. they've added little catch berms at the bottom of most of the dh sections, and those are pretty magical. Kudos to the trail builders. it will be interesting to see how long before the next direction change.

Just stopped in Santa Fe over Labor Day. if you haven't heard of Meow Wolf, it seems to be the thing to do in Santa Fe. You need to buy tickets in advanced, as it sells out daily. I got to ride Frijoles early. totally worth it. great trail system. best skills area. Just seeing the trail signage is worth it.

i think the proposal is pretty reasonable, won't affect my normal walnut route much. it would be nice if the trail crossing could go under a bridge and avoid crossing the concrete. i personally enjoy riding the concrete on both road and mountain bikes, and very much look forward to the concrete connecting all the way to town lake.

Anywhere to rent an eMtb?
circuitbreaker replied to ecoastjohn's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
BSS doesn't show any Levo's, but you should call and check. They always seem to have them at the demo days (none coming up that i know of) https://www.bicyclesportshop.com/rent-a-bike they don't get much love on here, but ebikes are super fun to ride. -
Opinions on Buying a New Bike
circuitbreaker replied to AustinBike's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
i running bikes with 11-speed and 12-speed X01. i honestly prefer the 11 speed. its lighter, the gear range seems perfectly acceptable, and the its much easier to dial in shifting vs 12-speed. -
What's This Fence Across a Trail at Walnut???
circuitbreaker replied to RidingAgain's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
do you have a link to the original post? -
i tore holes in a pair of nobby nics on successive rides. i've been Maxxis only since then.
