  1. New signage for Peddlers Pass is in the works. I'll probably start installing some time next week.

  2. You could still lift your injured groin above your head? Amazing. That should give Throet something to strive toward.

  3. Try riding your flats for a while and see if it goes away. If it does, you at least know it is not referred numbness from your back / buttocks. Then you can focus on determining if it is your shoes, pedals, or foot placement.

  4. Haha with all of my injuries and ailments I was going to donate my body to science. Then that story came out about the desecrated corpses at a Phoenix donation center. No way my schlong is ending up in a bucket!

  5. Yes, in addition to the race registration fee, there is a $10 land usage fee per person for bandera bike park. This single $10 fee includes full access & optional camping for three days - Friday is practice day, Saturday is race day, and Sunday is optional stay and ride day and I am working on setting up some cool activities for participants on Sunday! Which may include bike/e-bike demos, possible dirt bike stuff, and more!

  6. Soon the big toe might decide to stop being associated with the right or left and begin to identify as centric. This could spell trouble for your balance.

  7. It could indicate that your big toe, due to today's social and political climate, has become disenfranchised with today society and is choosing to numb itself rather than exist in a world to which it cannot relate. Or maybe it's the shoe thing.

  8. And to toss another idea out there, it may be cleat placement. About 10 years ago I started running, which changed my feet and caused numbness on some rides (using SPDs). It was a more general numbing across all my toes, not as specific as yours. IIRC I moved my cleats heel-ward just a couple mm, and that was enough to relieve whatever pressure was going on. Hope you get it figured out.

  9. hey man! so the differences between beginner and age groups are that beginners will race 5 stages total, and everyone above will race 8 stages on Race day. there are no shuttles on race day. there are two climb trails that all racers will use repeatedly to get back up to the top of the Ridgeline where the majority of the enduro stages start. you will have from about 9am - 4pm to complete all of your stages. you are only timed one the downhill race stages. your transfer times and total journey time is not recorded or measured. you just have to finish all your stages by the deadline. apart from that, go at your own pace, in any order you want, and have fun! we will provide all racers with a small timing chip that you will zip tie to your bike. each race stage has a proximity start and stop beacon which records your start and stop times for each stage. each race stage is about a 1:45 - 5:00 minute, 300-350' descent, ranging from .6 - 1 mile in distance. go register! the weather will be nice, the venue is great, fun crowd, just an all around good time. everyone always has an absolute blast at the enduro races! hope to see you there! bikereg.com/banduro

  10. I was looking for a race to work toward and this looks awesome. I'm not pro, and newb AF with racing. I'm not sure if I should sign up for beginner or the age brackets - what's the difference if any? Can you go into the format a bit @Seths Pool? Are folks shuttled to the top of each line? What's the distance covered for the beginner bracket vs the age brackets vs pro? Would you need any hardware for time keeping? Are there more information treasures revealed once you sign up? And feel free to point me to a website and say "RTFM." I checked https://banderabike.com/ and didn't see it mentioned or details so that's why I'm asking here.

  13. Me too. Strangest thing. Happened with a groin injury too. I could barely walk with it but could ride no problem.

  14. Thanks. No, meniscus was intact. Chunks of cartilage were floating around and there was damage to cartilage on condyle of femur so some smoothing and possible micro fractures or fissures or something. This Percocet is calling on me to take a nap! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. yeah, that's all i was asking. Just wanted to make sure there were no stop watches involved.

  16. you are correct, great question! there will be b-lines on the stages around technical features, and the 5 stages the beginner classes will be racing will be the most appropriate for those riders with fun and safety in mind. 🙂 hope to see you there

  17. Xero sneakers. I wear these to work every day (Lems makes some similar dress shoes) and I've walked thousands of miles in shoes like this over the past few years. I get blisters on my toes on very long vacation days, but my feet rarely hurt anymore. I ride in Five Ten Freeriders with flats and Maltese Falcons on SPD or Giro Carbide shoes for clipping in. These are fine for riding bikes because they are efficient and protect my feet from rocks, but they are the opposite of what I would wear as everyday shoes.

  18. As Brent said, could be cleat placement. Not a fan of orthotics anymore. That's like putting a permanent cast on your foot. The human foot is a breathtakingly elegant peice of biological architecture that supports itself if you keep it strong. Part of that means not crippling them with overly supportive, stuff shoes and insoles. I like shoes that protect me for the task I am doing, but my feet rarely hurt anymore because I don't crutch them. Look up Katy Bowman. There's also a good chance that your issue has nothing to do with your feet. I am not even going to start playing Web MD for you there. There are dozens of things that could be amiss. You need to see a medical professional to sort that out. I highly recommend the medical wizards at Endeavor Physical Therapy.

  19. My left foot went numb in many races. Basically half of the ball of the foot and a few toes. Two things: There is a nerve in my foot that gets pressed in certain dress shoes, and when I walk around barefoot too much. I try to wear shoes more. Switching to a high end XC shoe has helped tremendously. When it goes numb now, it’s usually because I need to back out the adjustment by one click on one of the BOAs. Super stiff soles are amazing. I can’t believe I waited so long to get really good shoes. I run Lake MX237 wide shoes. The width in the forefoot may have really helped with stopping the numbness for me. 20. @Seths Pool will the beginner race include stages with less technical features? I love riding and did the zombie goat last year and definitely appreciated that pretty much all of the really technical parts had B-lines. Will this race follow a similar protocol?

  21. Better shoes with stiffer souls and/or inserts that will displace the pressure more evenly across the foot. The shoes can also wear out over time and start to flex more which leads to more pressure up front.

  22. Like you, I also ride with SPD clipless pedals. A year ago I had similar symptoms where the distal aspect of my feet would start to go numb after a few miles of riding. Luckily, the foot numbness resolved after I bought a better fitting pair of new shoes. Perhaps you now have an excuse to get a shoe upgrade!

  25. throet, even your *updates* make me wince. SHEESH. I'm scheduled for knee arthroscopy tomorrow. I've been riding and feel pretty good on the bike, minus hard standing efforts, but walking is just not right.

  28. While in Cortez, I had lunch and brews a few times at the Main Street Brewery and Restaurant. Also visited the Kokopelli Bike & Board store. Both excellent establishments!
