  2. Basically, they kinda insinuated that I might have caused the problem by doing aggressive riding with the compression control lever in the firm position. I would never do that, but in their defense they don't know that...

  3. I know a lot of you aren’t on Facebook, but there’s an important request from Todd (Endura Race) related to an attack at brushy creek on a trail runner. He is looking for anyone that may have been running a GoPro on Friday, July 30 2021 from around 7am-7:55am in the Dave’s ditch, rim or 183a parking area. If you don’t have Facebook and have any information I’ll connect you with him. Scott

  4. Yesterday was my birthday and we did a fun trail through an amazing landscape! A navigation error added some extra miles and my wife was a real trooper about it, and the extra miles were some of the best riding we’ve done together in a while. Temperature maxed out around 75 degrees. Did I mention the wildflowers and copious quantities and variety of mushrooms? Today I squeezed in one last ride before we broke camp and headed out.

  5. I take offense to that statement. Yes, I told them how to get safely back to civilization, but then I also called them out on the internet. Please don't diminish my "hey you kids get off my lawn" stance. I have a reputation to uphold as the local curmudgeon. If people start thinking I am just a good guy the whole empire implodes. And the folks at AB world headquarters will stop paying my padded expense reports.

  6. Unsure where this belongs, if anywhere. We left Dripping Springs on July 12 in our daughter and her boyfriend’s DIY dodge sprinter van conversion. We had no real destinations and only the loosest of timeframes to visit those undetermined destinations. So far we have been quite successful. We brought our bikes, lots of books, and an aggressive slacker mentality as we try to avoid the heat in Texas. Riding destinations have included Capitan, New Mexico area including Ruidoso, Lake Abiquiu, New Mexico and nearby places, and now trails in the Pagosa Springs area. As older riders we have not been hitting as much gnar as my younger self would have liked or as many epic length rides as some, still we have had a bunch of fun. I finished my fourth book of the trip this morning and hope to complete my eleventh ride this afternoon.

  7. I just took a peek at my Strava Flyby for that ride. I made the turn north onto 183A path from Brushy creek path at 6:17am, then made the turn east from 183A back onto Brushy creek path at 6:42am. With that said, there was a larger group of what looks to be roadies that passed right there also coming south down 183A path turning west onto Brushy creek path at 6:47am. From a brief Strava stalk, there were at least 5 riders in this group. Possibly they have something. I am happy to share their names with Todd.

  8. Prices are not high if he sells for that amount. They are high for people who know better than to pay that much. There is a difference Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  9. We have had the same situation TWICE with Peddler's North. In late 2018 @Jessica wanted to try out some gravel/touring/adventure bikes and the sales person argued with us and effectively refused to grab a medium for her to try (she hates cramped frames). So we went to BSS (RIP) and got her a 54cm Specialized Sequoia literally 20 minutes later. And just last week, we stopped by Peddler's after Red Horn during our Brushy/SubNinja ride. We were hoping to look at clothes since we both needed shirts and shorts. Our plan was to have a quick look, then come back after the ride. But we couldn't have a quick look, since there was nowhere we felt safe storing our bikes (I know this is a bike theft thread, not a complain about LBS thread, so here is the tie-in). There's no reasonable place just inside the door--it's super crowded with stuff right there. And they had their massive window blocked with an equally massive wall of helmets. There's no chance of keeping an eye on your bike while shopping, and since we were mountain biking, we didn't plan on locks. So, when we got back to the car at Brushy, instead of going back for whatever they might have had, we went and spent about $350 on clothes at Sun&Ski and REI. Contrast that with our bike shop tour just this weekend, where we took our bikes inside both Trek Lamar and MJ's with no drama.

  10. Humpback off the coast of Maine. Got to see a full breach, but sadly nobody in the boat was prepared for a picture.

  11. Follow up to my previous follow up... On my second ride with my rebuilt shock, this happened. Oil everywhere. This was on a Saturday. I called and emailed TrailLabs, but they are closed on the weekend. Followed up with a phone call on Monday morning. After explaining the issue, they sent me a UPS shipping label. Dropped the shock off at UPS around noon on Monday. I got the shock back Saturday afternoon and was able to ride on Sunday. The shock seemed fine yesterday doing some pretty hard laps at Spider, but I guess we'll see how it holds up. Obviously, it's very frustrating to have to send parts back and lose the better part of a week, but I am still impressed with their customer service and turnaround times. As long as I don't continue to have issues I'd still tentatively recommend them, although I could have lived without the preachy note they included when they returned my shock.

  12. Hear, hear. Our execs are trying to make us return to the open office (from behind their closed doors) - most of us are flat out refusing.

  13. Was supposed to go back to the open office 7/26, I got a 2 week extension but they are moving full steam ahead and want to be back to 100% by late August. Since there are no orders or laws against it, everything the CDC, city, county, etc. are saying are 'just things for us to consider'. No real mask or distancing requirements. I pray our Exec's come to their senses.

  14. This Curt Goodrich “All-Arounder” never got the love it deserved. Just put the finishing touches on the city/gravel conversion. It rides wonderfully. The “Curt” will be the dedicated bike to ride the neighborhood & gravel paths w/ wifey. Really excited to ride this bike more! Cheers, Shaner

  16. I'm looking to build a cheap bike for one of our techs at work. He's an old school BMXer and eventually wants a MTB, but for now a hybrid or old MTB would suffice to get in shape. At this point he can't afford a bike but at some point he will be able to. I have pretty much everything needed to build up a MTB except for a frame and cranks which I'll donate to the cause. If anyone has a cheap L (56cm) 135mm QR frame they're selling or giving away, please contact me. If it's a tapered steerer I have a fork, but if it's a straight steerer then I'll need a fork (rigid is OK).
