  2. I have the finest quality 0-30 psi gauge that only attaches to Schrader.... I admit I just use my floor pump to measure. I should bite the bullet and get a Presta Air Gauge. For those interested... A decent comparison of some various options:

  3. tire pressure is weird. I have ~30mm wide inside rims, 2.35-2.5" tires, weigh 160 pounds, and use ARD inserts. I can't imagine the ride quality with less than 22 psi in my tires. with anything less than 20, I constantly feel like my tires are going to roll right off the rim under me in corners. most people in my situation would run their tires in the mid-teens, but even at 20+, I feel my rims hit roots and rocks a few times during every ride. I just can't get comfortable with that much squish.

  4. As we finish out our Barndo at our ranch, I am thinking it might be nice to add some better audio options. It's a small apartment with a living-room/Kitchen open space. Then a big deck. There is a Samsung Frame TV on the wall in the living room area. Simplest would just be a bluetooth speaker on the console table under the TV and then a different speaker on the deck. Works well when the kids are watching TV and we are on the patio. But what about times when we want to have the same music playing inside and outside. Any suggestions there? I'd like to avoid a bunch of Sonos equipment as it gets pretty pricey. Anyone have experience with a decent amp/receiver I can put in the attic (conditioned space) that I can control with bluetooth? Then ceiling speakers in the apartment and then a second channel of speakers on the deck? I've had this setup but wired in the past. I just don't really want to run an A/B wired switch at this point.

  5. I have an Accu-Gauge that goes up to 45psi. I think it was $20 or so, money well spent. I somehow damaged it once and had to mail it to Chicago to fix. they sent it back within a week. I pump my tires to 30 psi as read on the gauge built into my floor pump, then attach the gauge and lease air until it in the low 20s.

  7. What are y'all measuring pressures with? Until a few months I went only by my Specialized pump. Then I bought a digital gauge...it's made in Germany...it gives me lower pressures than my pump. I target 28-30 rear and 25 front on 2.35" on 30mm rims with my pump, and the gauge tells me it's ~10psi less.

  8. Fork is a Trek OEM RS mag 21 takeoff. It came on some high end trek (stealth with no markings) and the guy that bought the Trek wanted to show off and swapped to a “real” mag 21. Believe i got it from a mechanic at Northcross Sun & Ski. Stuck it on my straight blade fork Diamondback Apex. Been running “slack” ever since.

  10. Man, as a Sonos convert I have to say, it's expensive, but the reason it is expensive is because a.) it works, flawlessly and b.) it sounds great. I bring a LOT of technology into our house and my wife rolls her eyes at most of it. I say it is there to make her life easier and she thinks that it complicates things more. Except Sonos. I think if I ever said I was getting rid of the Sonos she'd kick me out.

  11. That would be Mississippi’s poison control. [emoji849] I was in HS working for a vet in the early 80’s when Eqvalan (original brand name of ivermectin) came out as an injectable horse wormer. It got yanked within months because if you hit a blood vessel it was potentially lethal to horses. It came back a few months later as an oral paste for horses, but was ok as an injectable for cows. That’s what bubba, who couldn’t do his kids 5th grade math & science homework 6 months ago, won’t get. It works differently in different dosage in different size, weight and species. Hell it even kills heartworms in dogs. Great broadband anti parasite drug if given in the correct doze and correct method. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. In the heat a big (24 oz) bottle I found I tolerate a not quite full scoop with half a NUUN. Skratch is a bit too sugary at their proportions. On longer hot rides I just put 5-6 scoops in a bottle and water only in camelbak. Easier cleanup and you always have some water for your head or to clean sweaty glasses. Lately I notice I’m good with hydration with 2 bottles but tend to get behind at times with the pack. Harder to see just how much you’ve had to drink. Went so long without a pack from back issues so need to get better. For those that tried Fanny packs and disliked them, I got bibs with pockets and really like them with a loose jersey. Two bottles in them is much more comfortable than a jersey tugging down or a Fanny pack moving around. My frame only has room for 1 cage so it was the best option for packless. 13. I used the SRAM online calculator as a starting point and am currently running 33psi in the back and 31psi in the front. I only recently started to play with tire pressure, so I have a lot more experimenting to do. actually, I do have a nice dropper/remote installed on this bike and it has been great! This $600 bike is quickly becoming a $1000+ bike.. I really should have listened to you guys when everyone told me to raise my initial budget. 😐

  15. This one is embarrassing. That's me in the middle sporting an extra chin and posing with my first "mountain bike", a Specy Hardrock. Taken somewhere around 2006 in Lubbock after riding trails that in hindsight were definitely too muddy and thinking how cool our bikes looked caked in mud.

  16. I wouldn't say even that I was a mountain biker at the time, but here is me with my first mountain bike, which I purchased online for $499 in 2008 I think. Had rode a mountain bike once before in upstate NY, and after moving to Austin decided that I wanted to take up the sport. Once I had the bike I checked out ARR's website and decided I should head right over to City Park. Nearly killed myself that day and then decided Walnut Creek was a better place for me to get started.

  18. Cool thread... Here are my easy to reach photos. I know I can get a little earlier with the MTB and much earlier back to my 11 yr old BMX days. This is my very first MTB race while at TX Tech in Fall of 94', I ended up winning the 3 race series and I still have the 'chainring trophy' on my bookshelf. I made a few friends at that race that I still ride with to this day. 2nd time to Lajitas (Desert Classic 1995). This was my 2nd race ever and believe it was at Flat Creek Ranch 1995. This was back when XC rode very technical stuff on skinny @ss 26er tires, 63mm travel Mag21's were "long travel", and the Expert Class (Cat 1) raced a mind-blowing 3 laps for about 20 miles(!!!) LOL

  21. People are also taking horse dewormer massive doses instead of getting the vaccine. I forget what state now has 70% of poison control center calls related to horse dewormer. Another article mentioned a Facebook group that had calm evidence based discussion, and talked about a supposedly evidence-based educated arborist trying to make up his mind, and he ultimately decided to get the vaccine based on weighing the posts for and against the vaccine (more evidence on one vs more conspiracy in the other)...on Facebook...I mean, not talking to his local pharmacists or doctor....Facebook. We're fucked. We have failed as a country as far as science education is concerned. We're paying for that ignorance literally and figuratively.
