  1. Yeah, I'm sure the pedicab pictured just needs some axle grease and an Aux Cord...
  2. It was good and I did have fun! Plus my lackluster training did help. Unfortunately 3 weeks before my whole household got the stomach flu that was going around and any training took a backseat until the weekend before the event. Before this, based on my progress I was hoping for a 2:45 time but after the setback in training set a goal of under 3 hours. In the end I achieved a 2:55 and went home happy. I'm glad I did it, the medal/belt buckle is pretty sweet but I don't see me doing any other long distance runs. I will however try a local 5K or two. I definitely have seen a benefit to my overall health and biking stamina because of my 2-4 mile training runs.
  3. Sooo... 1/2 Marathon is over, got my medal, I can get back on the bike now. AKA Sorry about the rain being back...
  4. I've got 2 daughters (2.5 and 5) and I'm doing what I can to spark the riding bug in them now. The 2.5yo is on a push bike and the 5yo has been riding without training wheels for 6 months! So far so good! Thanks for giving me something to look forward too!
  5. I said it once, and I'll say it again. I think the area under Parmer would have plenty of room for skinnies/ jumps/ croc pits. I'd be willing to put up with the occasional flooding. http://www.bikemojo.com/speak/14-austin-voodoo/91060-brushy-creek-regional-singletrack-598.html#post1250590
  6. I've shown this to everyone of my family members (all non riders). Everyone has loved it, it's done perfectly.
  7. THAT'S WHAT WE NEED! Just imagine if we each had one of these to pull around when we rode. The trails would be BUTTAH!
  8. Now we just need one big enough for Walnut/Brushy...
  9. That's an understatement/overstatement (need to finish my coffee). Keep us updated!
  10. This is getting a little off topic but I actually use this on my FS to hold a tools and tubes. Plus a pump bracket to the side of the cage. Works great and it is always there. https://www.bikemag.com/gear/accessories/review-specialized-keg/
  11. If I carry something other than water when I ride it's G2 (low cal Gatorade) but I hear a lot of NUUN/gels/etc. thrown around on the forums. What's your favorite non-water when riding/running?
  12. The other thing I'll add is that I used to be a bladder guy and now I am 100% bottles for most of my riding. I love the simplicity of throwing them in the dishwasher vs cleaning my bladder and letting it dry.
  13. Agreed, but not because of their schnazzy song. I'm actually impressed by there manufacturing process. From their product picks to the online testing. Impressive.
  14. I just started using the Dakine Hot Laps 2L this past summer. It isn't hydration specific but it does have a secure water bottle loop. As someone who hasn't worn a fanny back since I was in Disney World in 1992 I freaking love it. Depending on whether I am on my HT of FS. It carries all my tools, spares, cell, keys and 1 water bottle. My riding has changed a lot since moving here and I do a lot of out-and-back from my car so tanking up with fresh water isn't a problem. I've completely stopped using my 15 year old Hydration back unless I'm in an area where I need 3L of water.
  15. Translation: Drivers can be dumber than rocks.
  16. I am amazed at how slick the limestone gets when wet, it's no joke! Speaking of wet, just drove Parmer North onto Brushy Creek East and looked down at Peddlers. Easy to spot standing water on the trail from the road, the 1.5 we got last night did it's thing...
  17. I like how they didn't even chase him, they just subpoenaed uber for his personal information. Probably had the shock of his life when a couple police cruisers pulled into his driveway...
  18. He's hoarding the new section all to himself.
  19. This but for a sign? Give keys to all of the trail stewards and trusted people. https://www.google.com/search?q=multi+owner+gate+lock&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj5uLKwm_jfAhVKbK0KHdQABeUQ_AUIDygC&biw=2133&bih=1210
  20. For the sake of my lazyness in typing the url and finding you page, please add it back to your signature! 😉
  21. Speaking of AWOL, where's the Wookie and his fishy alter ego? What since he doesn't have an aquarium to sell he's tending to his kids/kids?
  22. Dirt vs Loam vs Clay based soils. We have $h!t dirt. Drainage and erosion is still a problem but those can be solved/mitigated. Wet weather riding can be very fun on dirtbikes and MTBs, just not here.
  23. To be fair, I'm not an aggressive rider who sprints the trails but I do expect my tire to grip and not slip. I have the Ikon on the back and I cheeped out on the front with a WTB Trail Boss. The performance is very similar but the Trail Boss doesn't have exo protection. The original plan was to only ride it on the BCRT but I've taken it all over Brushy and Walnut and I've really liked the combo. When I tire (pun intended) of the Negevals I'm putting an Ikon on at least the rear of my FS, haven't decided on the front yet.
  24. Yay, Tire thread!!! IMO, I really like the Ikon ont he back of my 27" HT, I've used it on all kinds or surfaces and it does what I need. (I ride 80% Brushy and 20% Walnut). By comparison, the 26" Nevegals on my FS which I used to like in the PNW are good on roots and tacky days (hero dirt) but not great on dry days and rocks. I rode a demo bike with DHFs and the conditions were SUPER tacky. The tires never mudded up but it was like hitting the brakes on every dirt section. SO MUCH DRAG. If I bought that bike the first thing I'd do is ditch the DHFs.
  25. For now. I'd be happy to ride an Electric Dirtbike once the range is equivalent to a gas one. I had a 4.2Gal on my XR280L. On fire roads this was hundreds of miles, on trails it was 100-150. There's no electric bike that can come close to that yet. Battery tech will get there and that's what will change everything.
