  1. Calvin & Truman debunking the dropper in a workstand myths. Gotta love these guys! https://www.pinkbike.com/news/tech-talks-dropper-seat-posts-to-clamp-or-not-to-clamp.html Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I did some laps including all the side loops this morn. All good to go. A few spots, like the first side loop by the parking lot, have some pretty heavy oak leaves covering the trail, but you can still follow the trail just back off the pace slightly. As always, lots of good wildlife when you ride there. Right by the lower spot where the trail crosses the road this guy was on the prowl trying to finesse some ladies. 3. Heard Gary Fisher give a history lesson at BSS a few years back at a party/book tour for the 25 anniversary of the Rock Hopper. Notice 2 things he said were key to those old klunkers. 1) They looked for pre-WWII Schwinn Excelsiors because the post war models had lower bottom brackets. 2) Look at the big ass brake levers. They were usually Magura motorcycle levers because the leverage ratio needed to be so much better on the cheesy canti rim brakes they had to back then! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. If you’re heading from Chattanooga south hit up Coldwater Mtn in Anniston on the way to Auburn. Fun flow stuff, a jump trail, etc. Also a great 20+ mi XC course with some new skills and jump stuff up top is Oak Mtn SP on the south side of Birmingham. Have to check out the new trail in Chattanooga. I’ve done parts of Raccoon Mtn but it’s been quite a few years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah, so I guess that promise to not be a fuckin douchebag on the new site was total bullshit. Perhaps just a douchebag just can’t change it’s stripes. And btw, if y’all would quit quoting said douchebaggery I wouldn’t have to read any of it as ignore works pretty good. And lack of attention usually makes troll types wither and die. 6. I’m sort of the opposite on the bladder. I liked the old nalgene made bladders, not a fan of the zip top. Was a pita to fill to me. Had a low speed tumble and the bladder split near the bend at the top. I traded the replacement they sent for a new camelbak bladder with the larger hose. I’m 2+ years on my 2nd raptor 14 (first developed permafunk after about 5 yrs). Your waist strap pocket concern is unfounded. Of all the stuff I’ve had repaired, buckles slammed in tailgate, pocket torn on tree, etc. the waist pockets have never failed. ALL my repairs were my fault, never had a product failure, still they repaired or sent parts including bite valves. Also, I love the helmet keeper. Helmets seem to be the worst at rolling around in a truck bed. Great thought to help keep all your stuff together. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Too bad he saw this one. That bad boy should have been left alone and eating vermin for another decade. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Sounds familiar. Last thanksgiving I did Lincoln parish park, oak mtn, cold water mtn, and a new to me ride near b’ham, Tannehill State Park. Then Mt Zion in Brookhaven on the way south. Always fun to hit the old haunts. In piss poor shape this year so skipped the long way home tour. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. 30 years ago they were THE place to get decent quality shorts/jerseys and other items on a college student budget. That was in the days of phoning in an order and they had very good customer service. They still make decent clothes especially for those looking for the most bang for the buck. Surfing through their catalogs was how I realized the crazy markup on parts many shops had and quickly learned to do 99% of the work on my road bikes back in the mid 80’s. A Performance catalog and a copy of Zinn and the art of bike maintenance (road & mtn) saved me thousands over the years. I only went by the store here for small consumables and usually only on Tuesday for the 10% lunch time sale. That kinda cancelled out having to pay sales tax was how I’d see it. Their bike brands were a great alternative for new to the sport people that wanted something better than Wally World, but can’t afford the boutique brands most of us have migrated to. More butts on bikes is better for all of us IMO. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Does Garmin STILL not have a find my lost GPS feature? Spot, iPhone can ping, if Garmin doesn’t it seems a bit intentional i.e. planned obsolescence in nature. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. After being pestered by the wife/kid I watched the first two a while back. Had to point out all the buildings at LSU that were used in the movie. [emoji849] In the late 50’s early 60’s, my dad was a lifeguard and lived in the old field house where the dry swimming pool sing off scenes were filmed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  14. So did you cut the body up in little pieces and scatter it across several different plots? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Ha! I always love these comments. Those big ass freak of nature lineman can do a 40 yd dash near world class sprinter pace. The best athlete to ever come out of your area may make a top 25 university roster. Of the thousand plus of those guys a couple dozen can make it to the pro’s. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. NOICE! I think my 256 WiFi one was $750. You can download several seasons of Netflix/Prime video of a show and not come close to filling up 256 so 512 is overkill for most people. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Also remember, top tube’s tend to be tapered, so thinner in the middle where most people clamp them. Even if clamped loosely it’s easy to deform them. When you shove down while torquing something usually one side of the clamp will be digging on the top, the other side on the bottom of thin wall Al or carbon. Seat posts are thicker walled and non-tapered. Also, the seat tube will be beefed up with a sleeve to better withstand any torsion unlike a top tube. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  19. It’s your forum. We’re all moochers at this point so I have no problem with you controlling things as you see fit. this is how I view it. anybody that disagrees with the rules is perfectly free to spend their own money and a lot of riding time setting up their own forum. Thanks for all the hard work Albert. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Try the Tapatalk app. You can set it to Unread posts. If it’s crap you don’t want to read you just press and hold and it disappears without having to open the thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. You’re also out there doing non-game, non-bike riding things with them. It still amazes me at times the blank stares you get when people ask you about kids and games and I ask them what they do with the kids outside for fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Here’s the deal plain and simple. Don’t want kids addicted to playing games all day? Gotta get off YOUR ass and do things with them. For over 25 years I’ve worked a job that for several months a year I work 50+ hours so I go weeks without getting to spend much time outdoors, but I always steered my free time to taking my daughter outside. I was intentional about what I did because I had kids at almost 40 and saw friends and relatives with mindless gaming zombies with zero social skills that can’t ride a bike, throw a ball, ID poison ivy, etc. Wasn’t gonna happen. First off, I bought a house on a greenbelt with a playground and a 3+ mi hike n bike out my back door. From about a year old I’d load her into a bike trailer and go to the play ground, go feed the ducks at the pond, go to a neighborhood cafe for Sunday breakfast. It was also a way to give the wife a break when I was working a ton and pretty absent. It slowly morphed into her riding her bike with me to do all those things. Yesterday I got home around 6:30 and needed to do a spin to loosen the legs and we hopped on the cruisers and did a lap. Still amazed a h.s. freshman still likes doing a bike ride with dad. She bugged me again about planning a camping trip once I’m passed my deadline. Now I’ve never banned a thing. She’s had her own iPad since about 8 or 9, and is a teen girl who can spend hours on instagram, snapchat, etc. I just never emphasized games. She used to play endlessly on an architecture app that allowed you to decorate w/furniture, change floor plans, etc. She showed me some messaging pool game that’s going around, but it’s not a problem. Another must, there has always been an extracurricular activity. From 4-5 y.o. to middle school she played in a kickball league and tried various sports at the Y. There was never a killer spark at sports, but getting out and playing with a group, a different group than school, is important to social skills IMO. She still chats with girls she played on a team with 5 years ago. She moved on to drill team in middle school, and now is in the sports med program in HS, so not a ton of time for games, but it’s not really a passion. The point. You want kids to not be stuck in one thing, do multiple things with them. It can’t be a knee jerk reaction to not liking a new thing. It’s a 17+ year commitment to throwing as many new things at them to help them find their way. They call it parenting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I thought it caused Woody to appear in your front yard sportin’ a Terri cloth headband talking to himself on camera. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Watched it Sunday. 50’ drop road gap, finish line 70’ gap jump, sliding around in the mud on the approaches. They’re all nukin’ futs! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. In river place take a left on big view, then there’s a left on a small street that bends and becomes Westminster that pops out on city park road. The end of Westminster is STEEP. Then left on city park and up courtyard. It was an SOB of a finish. Cycle 360 was in Davenport ranch next to Maudie’s. Used to be a launch for lots of the dam loop rides. Edit: it’s Narrow Ridge that connects Big View to Westminster. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
