  1. Rode Emma Long for the third time since the direction change this week, and i have to say the trail seems to be riding really well. While there are still some issues with puddles and erosion, it is way better than pre-direction change. Most of the climbs are manageable and are being maintained well. they've added little catch berms at the bottom of most of the dh sections, and those are pretty magical. Kudos to the trail builders. it will be interesting to see how long before the next direction change.
  2. Kona Demo at Peddlers Cedar Park Saturday Oct 12 at noon https://www.facebook.com/events/370998990464950/
  3. Scott Demo hosted by Bicycle World Saturday Oct 19 location TBD https://www.facebook.com/events/1672429802889562/
  4. Just stopped in Santa Fe over Labor Day. if you haven't heard of Meow Wolf, it seems to be the thing to do in Santa Fe. You need to buy tickets in advanced, as it sells out daily. I got to ride Frijoles early. totally worth it. great trail system. best skills area. Just seeing the trail signage is worth it.
  5. i think the proposal is pretty reasonable, won't affect my normal walnut route much. it would be nice if the trail crossing could go under a bridge and avoid crossing the concrete. i personally enjoy riding the concrete on both road and mountain bikes, and very much look forward to the concrete connecting all the way to town lake.
  6. BSS doesn't show any Levo's, but you should call and check. They always seem to have them at the demo days (none coming up that i know of) https://www.bicyclesportshop.com/rent-a-bike they don't get much love on here, but ebikes are super fun to ride.
  7. i running bikes with 11-speed and 12-speed X01. i honestly prefer the 11 speed. its lighter, the gear range seems perfectly acceptable, and the its much easier to dial in shifting vs 12-speed.
  8. i tore holes in a pair of nobby nics on successive rides. i've been Maxxis only since then.
  9. This is hilarious. Trolling, not just for the internet anymore...
  10. For years, i always rode up the rock. oh, the good ole days! We should build a giant wall ride over the creek to catch people bombing off the 'drop'.
  11. yeah, that's all i was asking. Just wanted to make sure there were no stop watches involved.
  12. i rode phil's on Sunday. 31 miles if you ride the entire perimeter (just keep taking left's). I was out there 5 hours. start early, its pretty hot out there. the environment is actually kinda similar to Austin. https://www.strava.com/activities/2591031761 you can just ride the flowy stuff in the front in a couple hours and loop around rib cage a few times. its pretty fun, and there's still a lot of pedaling.
  13. Hah, gluing rocks onto rocks. BRILLIANT!
  14. if you are going to use a service or bike shop, get the process started right before you go on a vacation. Then, when you return home, your bike will be all ready to go. No real downtime. or during winter/spring, when the forecast shows 5 days of rain, this is also the perfect time to bring your bike in.
  15. yes, your shocks should be serviced. its in the user manual. its just a matter of how much you actually want to do it/pay for it. i've been on a once a year routine, and it seems to be working ok. but if you own multiple bikes, it can certainly add up quickly. typical prices at BSS: $125 for the fork; $75 for rear shock. my understanding is the seals and oil get dirty, and the system does not perform as well (similar to oil in you car). If your seals are leaking oil, it would need to be refilled eventually. In extreme cases lack of service could lead to scratched stanchion or other damage. (never actually seen this)
  16. if you don't want to spring for the peloton bike just get a regular spin bike, then you can pay for the peloton app and still get the spin classes. its just not as interactive since your effort is not displayed with the rest of the class. but i would think its just as motivational. spin classes can be fun. i enjoyed the time i've spent on a peloton. here's one article on diy peloton: https://www.mypursestrings.com/peloton-app/
  17. Yeah, if you're downtown, just start riding the hike and bike trail alot to get comfortable on the bike. then you can venture into zilker park past barton springs and enter the barton creek greenbelt (bcgb). its where i learned how to ride. just very busy on the weekends. Give yourself a few months on the bike before joining Freeride. Have Fun!
  18. hey, I have a bike box (i think i have two). PM me for details.
  19. Looking for a Tailgate pad for a roadtrip. I have a 2012 F-150. Would like something with straps for the bikes.
