  1. Is that a King hub mated to a 20" rim? Nice!! Paint the bike turquoise and call it a Yeti SB-20.
  2. On this topic, do we know exactly who owns the land where Rudolph runs? Are we sure it's public park land or highway easement or whatever? If we're not sure, maybe this person is also not sure and considers it to be their property. That being the case, before anyone confronts someone on the trail, it would probably be advised to have some solid evidence that we have a right to be there. Just my $0.02.
  3. I think this is a great approach but I’d make two changes. Take out the “biker” part in the seriously hurt part and replace it with “someone” or “a kid” or “a dog.” I’d also say that there is a high school team that regularly uses the trails as well as regular father/daughter/family rides that take place all the time. Even bat shit crazy people generally don’t want to hurt kids or dogs and an indiscriminate booby trap can do that. If they act concerned and start saying that any slow moving critter could avoid the trap, point out the local groms that shred at 5 years old instead of playing on a computer. 4. If it’s happening everyday, set up a sign-up genius page and get riders to sign up to ride it every 30 minutes all day long. People can even do out and backs. Someone will run into this person in the act or right after it. Note all the people you pass (including bikes) and you’ll have them. What to do about it? I’d say talk to them....nicely. Find out why they are doing it? Did they bury a dog out there years ago? Did some Strava douche run them off the trial and into poison ivy? Who knows but being dicks to them will probably just make them expand the war to more trails. The camera idea is only useful if we’re going to the authorities. That’s generally note the best route unless everything is sanctioned and even then risky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The one wheel crew has put in some serious trail work time in Austin. I’ve been to work days at Walnut where they out number mountain bikers! I cannot say the same for any other trail user group. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That's awesome! I could use something like this for my phone to hold my ID, one credit card, and my health insurance card. Everything I need for a good (or not so good if the health insurance card is needed) day on the bike. Th e one I have now works but it's not nearly as cool looking.
  7. I actually think that's a ferret training collar. Used on attack ferrets. ...or it could be an ODI grip clamp but that's no fun.
  8. Dude...there are miles and miles of great trail right there. Search this forum for SATN. South Austin Trail Network. I’d explore on a weekend unless you can take some long lunches if you get lost. Once you learn some of it, it should make great lunchtime rides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Such an interesting list but they all make sense. You need to get your wife to start reviewing these Air BnB's for people that want to follow in your footsteps. Even if they are just going for a few days, all those things make sense. Keep updating us man. I think this is awesome. Side note: I bet even the dudes in the big pimped out overland rigs stop and stay in a normal room/house every now and then. A bathtub or a big bed or even some personal space are just too precious to many.
  10. Out of curiosity, what do you look for in an Air B&B? Sounds like you guys are really making memories. Super cool! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. THIS is what I like to see. Not the silence part but the “send me the old one so I can learn how to make it better” part. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I used to listen to AJ on late night radio (maybe AM) just because it felt like it was pirate radio and he could say things that others wouldn't say. Now, I think he's a complete idiot and just wants people to listen to his crap so he'll say anything. Rush Limbaugh went the same way for me. I do miss me some Paul Harvey though.
  13. This is a good point but these guys at least have tape to keep them within some boundaries. They are looking for the fastest line while each Joe Civilian has many different objectives: Fastest line Safest line Most fun line Line closest to the sun bathing pool Line avoiding that big pile of dog shit Suddenly there are now 5 lines where there was previously just 1. The land manager then goes on a little stroll down the trail and this 'single track' that was pitched is now 'multi-track'. Bait and switch?! Personally, I think that this is a problem that can be addressed with design and knowing your customer. The customer on each trail is pre-selected by rating the trails green/blue/black etc. You design the trail for that customer and maximize their enjoyment. The PROBLEM with this approach is when you can't control which customer uses which trail. These are trails on public land therefore the public is going to use them (as we should). Knowing that Joe Civilian gives does not care about trail ratings or warning signs, they are going to use every trail available to them and you have to plan for it. The absolute best trails are those where different riders can enjoy and not even notice that there were other options to the line that they took. Some are good at drops. Some are good at rock gardens. Others love climbing (go figure?). Each time they ride it, they can string it together differently. Bottom line. Rule #1: Don't alter the trails. Rule #2: Recognize that most of the trail users will not understand rule #1.
  14. If you keep your head up when riding these types of trails at night, you might see an owl swoop down and pace you. I think they're looking for any critters you might scare up. It's such a cool experience and by itself is worth the price of admission for night riding.
  15. Just wow. I guess we get what we deserve when the only people willing to run think satanic worshiping only happens on Friday the 13th. Come on man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Where did you pick up those Pumpkinators? I owe my brother a couple of those. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I usually use the League of Women Voters guide too but too many candidates are ignoring it. I don’t see their logic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. This pisses me off too. We hear everyone complaining about the 'main stream media' and 'radical left/right fake news' but there is no source for a non-radicalized voter to learn where candidates stand. You can't go to their websites. How is this system supposed to work when the only way to educate yourself as an informed voter is thru sources of misinformation?
  19. This is an excellent story. I learned something today thanks to this. Well played sir!
  20. Is there a pallet of anything bike related that isn't sold within a month during these times?? Those white tires make me cringe but I'm glad someone out there likes them.
  21. Hoss destroyed Leadville. It will never be the same after Hoss had his way with it. Same with the continental divide. Don’t mess with Hoss! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. First time I’ve heard this! I think you’re not alone with Thumper navigation challenges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
