  3. Yup, looking like a freeze is working its way to the west side of I 35 tonight. Last night I got up out of bed at 11:30 pm and pounded on the neighbor's door. I told them I'd been listening to their dog moaning, crying whimpering -- really, I'd never heard an animal in that kind of distress before --off and on for nearly 3 hours and to let the damned dog inside. It was raining with temps in the 40s. The guys said it was the housemate's dog and he apparently let it inside. I can't believe he couldn't hear it. This has been going on for about two weeks, but I could never place which neighbor's yard the dog was in, then realized it was NEXT DOOR. If I hear even a peep out of that dog tonight, there will be another visit and maybe a call to the police. Where was I? It's terrible weather for Texas. Bring your pets inside.

  10. maaaaaaaan.... as a disclaimer - I dont blame GG build quality/integrity for this at all. firstly, this was a used 2016 frame when I got it, and since our day 1 together its been put through the wringer hardcore. numerous park trips, DH races, enduro races, whale tail over and over, blah blah blah... you get it. but we had the massive group ride on Saturday, all went well, then yesterday another smaller group from San Antonio came back to cat mtn and I gave them the tour also. we sessioned most of the big stuff for a while.. one of the newer trails on the perimeter trail side has a series of lumber jumps that field goal you though trees, and the 2nd jump on the trail is a 10' gap onto a flat Lilly pad landing. I hit the second jump and kinda pancake flop landed flat with a hard bottom out on the Lilly pad and heard my tire hit my frame. I was thinking I had tacoed my rim but I looked down and the chainstay had snapped. so im sure this was a mix of metal fatigue over the last few years, my abuse, and the bottom out. the end. I sent GG an email and am waiting for their reply, but am very optimistic about it.

  12. Waiting for the warranty replacement story... You're giving Shinerider a run for his money in the number of frames broken.

  13. I doubt that any "business as usual" frame breakage will have much pull with the rain gods putting a damper on the dampening. Now, if someone who has never broken a frame did so, that might count for something.

  17. Looks like it should be dry through the week and weekend. '60s next weekend, time to get some serious 2 wheel therapy going on.

  18. Yes. Over and over again. There is no pure capitalism, there is no pure socialism. These two concepts are on a continuum and every country fits somewhere along that line. You would not want to live in a country of pure capitalism because capitalists are for shit when it comes to doing things for the public good. Roads. Yeah, everything is a toll road. Hope you paid your police monthly service fee because if you are robbed they won't answer your call. And for all that is holy, do...not...get...sick. Now, on the other end of things you would not want to live in a pure socialism environment. Yeah, everything is provided by the government, but you'd never be able to get what you need. Don't crap a lot, toilet paper might have been mis forecasted. Don't bother trying to go out to dinner, you won't find good restaurants. Every country is somewhere on the continuum. And there is no "free market". That thing that people love so much does not exist as long as businesses can lobby the government to write laws that favor their business and hurt their competitors.

  19. I'll probably be riding Brushy at least one mid-morning this week, although if possible I want to try and get a lap in out at LGT as well in prep for DS next week. I'll send you a PM. I rode Double Down in both directions yesterday afternoon and this morning and it was fine, albeit with some slick rocks. I didn't ride anything else out there though, and suspect it is probably quite wet in spots. If it doesn't rain too much today or tomorrow, I think it will be fine at least on Wed.

  20. Best trail I've found in Moab is Ahab. Regular cut is rollable, rowdy lines as you want them. Fun loop and can be combo'd with other stuff off of amasa.

  21. I can attest that spending a morning doing some trail work is a GREAT way to give back to the trails. You will never really appreciate how much work it takes to maintain these little ribbons of dirt we all love until you grab a shovel and spend some time with a trail steward. It’s what separates us from the roadies (not trying to start a flame war here). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Book air bnb Call ahead to Downieville outfitters and get yourself on 9 am and 1 or 3 oclock shuttles with a rental bike in your size. Fly in to Sacramento: Get tiny rental car for 30 per day. Drive to Downieville. Blow your mind. If you want to take you bike, go for it, but there is no need. Send your bike to Downieville outfitters if you must have your own bike. 24. Colorado Springs, I would think, but the bike shops aren't that close to the airport, so you're gonna have to Uber to go get your bike. Solid beer scene, too. I'm sure there will be plenty of others - this should be a good list.
