  1. New signage for Peddlers Pass is in the works. I'll probably start installing some time next week.

  2. AJ build some trail East of Parmer about 6 years ago. He got busy and it became overgrown and people stopped using it. About three years ago my kids wanted to ride with me but there was nowhere suitable at Brushy. I remembered there was trail over there and cleared a little out so my kids could ride it. I called it Carcass Cafe. I later found out AJ was the one that originally built in that area so I changed the name to Peddlers Pass in homage to the OG builder with a play off the name of his bike shop, The Peddler.

  3. Thanks. The signs are going to look so good. Hopefully, I'll have the "Test Mule" finished today and I can post some pictures. I've been trying different techniques for painting the letters, the picture doesn't do it justice.

  4. Or a fellow pedaler that's also a pedal peddler? Or maybe the pedaler peddles petals...? Would that be a petal peddling pedaler?

  5. Same here! Without Peddlers Pass I would not be heading towards a healthier lifestyle. I owe my wellbeing to the trail.

  7. So no payouts in the Beginner category? Does $65 get me beer? I figure someone has to ask ...

  8. i rode phil's on Sunday. 31 miles if you ride the entire perimeter (just keep taking left's). I was out there 5 hours. start early, its pretty hot out there. the environment is actually kinda similar to Austin. https://www.strava.com/activities/2591031761 you can just ride the flowy stuff in the front in a couple hours and loop around rib cage a few times. its pretty fun, and there's still a lot of pedaling.

  9. Okay, so update... we (he and I) went through the process again, and designed the perfect bike, then all this happened: https://singletrackworld.com/2019/05/marino-bikes-sell-off-of-sick-bicycles-frames/ https://www.pinkbike.com/news/sick-bicycles-manufacturer-selling-off-sick-branded-frames-claiming-lack-of-payment.html https://www.archynewsy.com/manufacturer-of-sick-bicycles-that-sell-frames-claiming-no-payment/ Followed by this: Wife in the Hospital... So, we'll just have to make the most of the frame I have for now... I went ahead and built it as-intended: My shoulders finally felt good enough to get out on it since the previous post, and I have to say, this thing feels even better than I remembered; I pretty much hit the nail on the head! If I ever get the new one, it'll be the perfect hardtail, IMO (it's already the best I've ever ridden). But alas, my shoulders didn't last long, so I'm going to chill until at least fall...

  16. Your getting a lot of differing feedback....which IMHO means that you're going to have to experiment and be intuitive with yourself to figure this out. I had a severe "hot spot" problem about 15 yrs ago when pedaling (mainly my road bike) for long periods of time (say for 4hrs+). It would get so bad that I'd have to stop, take my shoe off and massage my foot for a while. This would help for a bit but then it would start to come back about 30-40 min later. It ended up being that my right foot rotates rolls to the outside as I pedal. When I get tired it gets more pronounced. I was wearing a less than super-stiff MTB shoe for my road riding (same shoes as MTB'ing). I ended up buying some road specific carbon soled shoes and presto!....it went away. I shortly moved to some of the same caliber shoes on my MTB and have never really had the hot spot issue again. So for me it was stiff carbon soles FTW. Later, -CJB

  18. Probably 6, i haven't decided yet. They will be, at the start/finish, where the trail crosses the concrete sidewalk, a few under Parmer, and one at the drop by the creek close to the end of the trail.

  19. By the time I get back to riding I'll need some directional signs. Also, are training wheels allowed on PP?

  20. I might have to drag my broken ass body, heart attack surviving, 60 year old self out there and do this.

  21. Soon the big toe might decide to stop being associated with the right or left and begin to identify as centric. This could spell trouble for your balance.

  22. You probably want at least a couple of hours for the main Phil's World loop. They have expanded and/or are further expanding the trail system. You can use one of the phone apps to determine how much you want to ride. TrailForks will let you build a route. There was no Osprey outlet in town that I ever saw, but it being such a small town I was tempted to drop by the factory and visit, but never did. Geer trails might be a good option in the afternoon / evening after arriving, just to loosen up after a drive, and Osprey is pretty close the trailhead if you arrive before quitting time it could easily be made into a combo run.

  23. No, but I had a pen pal once. Don't worry about it. You had a good thought. We raised $570 in the boot. Very nice. The schools were very appreciative when I took the donations to them today.

  25. No wonder I can't walk straight! Had an MRI due to a torn anterior tibialis tendon a few years ago, and the MRI result incidentally indicated that 2 of the 4 ligaments in my ankle were completely severed from past trauma. Nothing but snap, crackle, pop coming from the ankles these days.
