  1. Wow. I did not know this was going to hit the forums yet. Yes, we cut in some trail before we went to Whistler for the summer. The trails are still rough and need work so if you ride, ride appropriately. Christ Church gave us (FR512) permission to build on their land and we will be adding much more (when it gets cooler - still haven't acclimated back to TX heat). In the meantime, if you ride there, please be respectful, don't ride/park in the parking lot. Enter either from Suburban Ninja or by the fire station. Having trails there is new for them and we want this to be a positive experience for them. We're still figuring out logistics. As it grows and we get more features in, we will be doing skills clinics and possibly Wednesday Night Rides with the Peddler. We have already had machines out there, but we would like to do much more. If there's interest, we will set up a Go Fund Me to accelerate our building and perhaps organize some dig days if anyone wants to pitch in and help. There is a lot of potential out there and we're excited to have progressive park-type trails so close to BC. BIG THANKS to Christ Church for making this available.

  2. That is the one. I have had four (I think) different conversations about adding a "B-Line" there. Yes - it is rideable as is. It is even easier now that someone has created a gentler line around the ledge. How hard/easy it is to ride is your personal opinion. That may include how tired you are or how hot it is when you ride it. No - there will never be a "B-Line" around it unless -->YOU<-- get TxDOT to move the road. If you don't like that spot - don't ride it. Walk it. Or ride a different trail. This trail is NOT the only way to get to other trails.

  3. I've contacted TxDOT for a quote for moving the road over. Once I have that, I'll be starting a Gofundme so all of you can take some financial responsibility for this. I'm a do'r!!

  5. oh shit! that is Dale's stuff he was building. he is back from whistler so he is prolly working on it. Supposed to have a drop zone and tie into Suburban Ninja. did not know it had been done. that is the fire station in Ranch at Brushy Creek and the trails are built on the church's land with its blessing (pun intended). Maybe I go check it out today!

  6. Enve. Don't buy them. Build a set of hoops with the parts you want. DT swiss XM481s with 350 hubs will last a long, long time out here and are stiff/light enough to feel a difference.

  7. Ohhhh! So the GOOD and COOL riders wear earbuds. Especially in the city streets. Gotta get me some I guess. Seriously though, I am amazed at what equipment can withstand. I saw one video where afterwards they listed the amount of rims and stuff that they trashed during the shoot, but still, like a 40 foot drop onto flat concrete, and not totally taco-ing a rim? Amazing.

  10. this trail also rejoins the main trail and its about 3/4 of a mile long all told. It is also on the DS2019 route, but CCW. I recently cleaned and cleared that trail as well as 80% of the south shoreline. It's a good time to go ride.

  11. I'll weigh in as well. I live right by the Hielscher greenbelt and have 5-6 (maybe more) routes that I rotate through regularly on the SATN (which is just freaking awesome!). One of these is from my house to Slaughter Creek via the north route, one or two laps there, and then back via either the north route or, more often, the south route to the median on 45 and then home. The climbs on both return routes annoy me because they're not very interesting, and both are steady, mostly wide open climbs. I can do both, but I often end up walking a bit just for a brief respite between laps at Slaughter Creek and the more interesting parts after the respective climbs. That's more common in the heat vs. when it's 20+ degrees cooler. Not complaining at all because I feel incredibly fortunate to have this wealth of trails right outside my front door, but I can certainly understand folks not liking those small stretches of trail.

  12. Here's the one that I built for my 10.5 yr old. It was a long-waited hand me down from his older brother. I put a 10spd drivetrain on it and also added the 152mm Suntour 1x cranks. Got a sweet deal on a SID fork (dropped 1lb that way!). I've got Stan's Crest wheels and Shimano disc brakes still awaiting install. But it works pretty dang well as is. This is a post-ride photo of us from South Boundary this August.

  13. Just for clarity, I'm not saying that any of the hills out by Slaughter Creek are horrible or worthy of an e-bike assist or shuttle or something. I'm just saying that exposed climbing (any climbing) next to a road sucks in my opinion. There is no barrier there and you're often times less than 10' away from a car going 60+ mph heading straight at you. Not fun IMO and if Slaughter Creek was an awesome trail, I'd totally do it and not think twice. As it stands, of all the trail on SATN, I'd say that the Slaughter Creek trail is some of my least favorite. The North social tour had some amazing trail on it but that whole section to and from Slaughter was just a grind FOR ME.

  14. Yeah, that climb is nothing, on either side. I assume he's talking about something else? The water tower climb is considerably more effort than the one in the above photos, but even that one's not horrible (unless maybe you're climbing it in the middle of a hot summer day!) ..Al

  15. This one? Just West of the driveway. Right next to a barbed wire fence on the south side, and the trees and a drop on the north side toward 1826 right? Start of the climb from the road view: Is there a tougher climb? This one is really short. There's a longer one farther South by the water tower that's tougher IMO, but still not too bad.

  16. You'll need to move that hill for the B line

  17. Are people complaining about that tiny climb north of Slaughter Creek on 1826 to the intersection of Slaughter Lane? lololol ..Al

  18. Built this for my son a couple years ago, he was 8 at the time. I figured he would have a much easier time with bigger wheels. Frame is a 13", cranks are Suntour XCT 152mm with the cheapest narrow/wide ring I could find, probably have $400 in it.
