  1. Today was the first time I was able to get through gumdrop without clipping a pedal, putting my foot down, or tumbling into the creek. #goals

  2. If you read carefully you'll note I said "up to". Even if I was maxing out the prescribed limit of good carbs, 145g is still relatively low and certainly not a bad thing for someone who does strength training 5 days a week and aggressive mountain biking 4 times per week. Muscle mass is a calorie burning engine that runs best with a blend of good carbs, protein, and good fat. You jumped to the conclusion that snacking between meals was the cause of my high blood sugar when I had already established that it was due to me falling into a high-glycemic diet while being inactive from an injury. Really no need to break that down further. I assure you that eating a handful of almonds or half an apple (both around 10g of carbs) between meals as part of a healthy diet will not cause your blood sugar to rise. Always best to listen attentively to the story being told before jumping to conclusions and offering advice, especially when no advice is being sought out.

  3. You have to listen to your body. If an imperial stout is what your body is craving, you probably have a serious alcohol deficiency, and that should not be taken lightly.

  4. Perfect trails and weather out today 2-3pm. I saw nobody on Peddlers and 4 people on 1/4.

  5. Maybe you need to start taking a pizza serum to build up your tolerance before you head up there next time.

  6. Mine was literally ordered on a Saturday morning and had it in my hands on Sunday. For all the bad things that Amazon does, when it comes to logistics they are *generally* ahead of everyone.

  9. Stayed here a year ago. It fit four guys well and is set up for mountain bikers. Right near Slaughter Pen and is actually a few houses away from the place Cody mentioned (which I’ve also stayed at). http:// https://t.vrbo.io/Q0wrcQB842 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. No. 2 not 1. The bicycle is built for 2.

  11. There's a place that I've stayed at 3x's now and it too is right on the Slaughter Pen trail. Its owned by a cyclist and he's a great host and a reasonable price. Let me see if I can find the listing to post up. Later, CJB

  12. It's because the overall length is extended to accommodate two riders.

  13. When I was a young kid around 1980, I wanted a freewheel hub, because it seemed like all the "good" bikes had them.... I couldn't afford such a bike at the time, So I pulled my coaster brake hub apart to see how it worked... I found that if you just removed the arc-shaped brake shoes, it would freewheel... of course, it was still heavy and the forward engagement still sucked, but I still felt cool, and no more locking up the back wheel on hard landings 😁. Plus, there was no back-pedal when rolling in reverse! I also discovered that removing the arm that attached to the frame would allow you to engage in reverse (with the shoes still installed)... When I got into freestyle, I kept rear coaster brake mags around converted each way for tricks... then a few years later ACS came out with the RL Edge Hub, which behaved like a coaster brake hub without brake shoes, except better engagement (and they made an obnoxious, embarrassing moaning noise when coasting, lol). That was almost 35 years ago, so I'd imagine there are lots of perfected options nowadays...

  14. I can’t find the place I stayed a couple of years ago but any place close to downtown or Crystal Bridges will have access to trails with no driving. I turn 40 in May also. I think I’m just going to stop counting birthdays. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. A new route has been added to Bikepacking.com called the Sam Houston Restaurant Tour. It's an easy relatively short weekend route on bladed dirt roads, with an option for a restaurant meal at each end of the "figure 8" loops. It's east of Huntsville, west of Lake Livingston and south of Hwy 190. Looks like a good shakedown ride for checking out bike packing. Sam Houston Restaurant Tour

  16. I saw several families riding SN and Gumdrop yesterday. Both times they said they were in a little over their heads but were smiling and having a great time anyway. I gave them some encouragement and told them to enjoy the scenery. It was amazing out there.

  17. One of the reasons I prefer Peddlers over 1/4 is this...unless someone is going the wrong way on PP, you don't have to worry about smoking someone head on. The other reason is because 1/4 crushes me and my rigid SS every single time lol.

  20. Too many folks trying to be a Fisher of brand puns will result in being up Cane Creek without a pedal. Then, you might have to Schwinn for the bank. It's hard to justify it being Elsworthy to keep going.
