  1. I thought we were supposed to just bag it and leave it by the campsite?

  4. **UPDATE Recent Fences/trail closures at Brushy Creek and the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park**. 1. The cedar fence placed near the "YMCA waterfall" was required after a dam inspection by the TCEQ. The hiking trail leading to the area below the waterfall was never designed to be there. The erosion it is causing raised concerns about future dam integrity, so the TCEQ required a fence be placed blocking the trail. 2. The County will be building a fence blocking the new unsanctioned dangerous "drop in" on picnic next to the footbridge. ARR Trail Stewards and volunteers have been trying to block it with brush, but people keep unblocking it. The County in coordination with ARR have agreed to block it permanently with a fence. 3. The unsanctioned MTB trails at the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park were recently fenced off. This happened following an inspection by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife dept. During their inspection they found endangered species and endangered habitat. They required the area to be fenced off.

  6. I'd have to say that simply 'knowing your wife' is the best way to make it comfortable for her (and minimize AirBnB). I just use myself as an example....sleep is one of the most important things for me. Thus I made sure to have a quality sleep setup which was comfy and warm. I was also successfully in getting 10+ hrs of rest most every night I was in my setup. Conversely, showing wasn't so important to me. I *did* have a sun shower setup and it worked well enough. But truth-told, I'd go 3-5 days with nothing more than wash cloth cleanings. Hell, I could prolly eliminate my shower setup next time and not miss it much. I thought reading and night time stimulation was going to be a need for me...therefore I had a few different night light setups with reading lights and a handful of books. Additionally, I had 2 big battery bank setups so that I could recharge all my electronics while I was spending week at a time in the back woods. All together, I read at night 2x's. In my longest stint off-grid I only drained my power bank setup down to 70%. I had way too much battery power than I thought I needed. Ultimately, I just spent most of that (reading/etc) time sleeping. The plan was to have my wife fly out and visit me somewhere along my trip. Thats why I had my setup convertible to a double sleeper. She never made it out...but in her planning for joining me in my back-country and urban stealth camping episodes, her biggest concern was getting up at night to go to the bathroom. For me..I learned after my first 2 nights to keep a big jug near by which allowed me to barely be disturbed in my cozy setup. But for her, it would be a notable problem to solve (or not?). I spent half a dozen nights in a variety of hotel parking lots in and around the mountain states while stealth camping. For a female companion this could pose an issue. Lastly, if your wife is like my wife, then she may like cute and cozy type things. A string of battery powered christmas lights go a long way to making my wife feel like something special is going on around our camp setup. That and maybe a quality cup of coffee. I feel like I said a bunch of nothing. But really my point was that the 'extras' you may need really are dependent on your traveling partner. Later, CJB

  7. Had time to kill this a.m. while kid was at dentist and took doggies for a walk at Milburn Park. They sure have upgraded the track since the last time I was there 5-6 years ago! All the ramps are concrete and the wall is 8’ at least. Was pretty soggy so didn’t get off the trail to look closer at the full track. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  8. Parquet and asbestos are no more. Definitely an odd sensation seeing it stripped to the slab, and the residual chemical odor is pretty strong.

  11. This round of rain has dumped ~.5" in Pflugerville. Just enough to be wet, but will dry quickly once it stops.

  12. So, where do we draw the line between "glamping" and "camping"? Poop in hole = camping Poop in bucket = glamping Agreed?

  13. Doing hardwood in living, halls, bathroom and dining areas & faux ceramic brick for the kitchen. Had a massive 3/8 hump in the middle of our living room and an equally low spot in front of the door. They spent an entire day grinding a filling it all in to get 1/16 total variation. So far ive been really happy with the flooring company https://www.facebook.com/SoleilFloors/

  16. Thanks I’m setup for solo trips. I bought a cabin style type tent for when we go out together and looking for accessories to make it more comfortable for her. We’re planning a month long summer trip and want to minimize using Airbnb. Thanks again.

  19. To heck with that...from the outside that looks like a POS. It may have some decent room on the inside but it looks shoddy and junky. Here's my setup from a few months ago. I essentially lived in it off-and-on for a month. Its convertible to a desk type arrangement for work, convertible to a double sleeper for the wife (or a kid), and obviously can house 2 bikes inside WHILE I sleep in the back.

  20. @HoneyBadger thanks for helping to get that fence on the Picnic drop in. I've grown tired of fighting the fight of keeping brushy in that spot. Bummer to hear about Wilco SW park.

  22. I think we've talked about this before, but currently I'd lean towards a Spinter/Transit type full size setup. I really don't think a Transit would be too bad at being a daily driver. But then I also think about the swiftness and drivability of an actual minivan and I end up at places like this...

  23. Not necessarily. He is open to suggestions, primarily urban would be my guess. Let me know what ya got, but no pictures of you in skinny hipster jeans please.

  24. Schwing! Since it's only an artist's rendition, it is fun to think about the mechanical changes. You'd need a tunnel for the driveshaft which would get rid of center seats. You'd still end up seating for 6. Now, I don't even want to think about changing those rear spark plugs in that thing! This prompted me to look up fastest minivans, the Sienna comes with AWD and 300HP and will hit 60 in 7 seconds. The Odyssey doesn't have as much power but is faster with a 6.9 second 0-60. That's around the time my 1996 GSR used to do. That's nuts! Here's the ultimate minivan:
