  1. I see you've been riding the Rock Chair Preserve. Protecting the endangered rock chair from encroaching urban expansion. Enjoy it while you can.
  2. thanks for the heads up. i'm gonna try to make the early session.
  3. Saw this announcement regarding Carol Lee Preserve in my neighborhood paper. Hopefully, this doesn't mean a fence is in the future. https://www.hillcountrydevelopment.org/carolleepreserve
  4. there is an awesome looking trail on the north rim in the national forest. if you want more info, i can dig it up. trail forks shows some trails on the south rim and a greenway: https://www.trailforks.com/region/grand-canyon-national-park-36003/ and flagstaff looks to have a ton of trails: https://www.trailforks.com/region/flagstaff/
  5. Thanks everyone for sharing your experience. i am now 8 days post symptoms. will wait two more days before trying to ride. i was outside most of the afternoon cutting limbs. my heartrate seems to shoot up easily; a fluttery feeling. not something i'm used to. Still kind of tired, want too sleep more than typical. i am going to ease back into riding. i'm not in a rush, and don't want to risk stressing my systems too much. this is definitely an atypical recovery for me. after a cold, i'm usually out running or biking the next day trying to shake it.
  6. Not a lot of data out there. Found this GMBN video very helpful, basically they recommend 10 days of rest after symptoms are gone. I am currently recovering from a mild case, and have a growing concern that my lungs will never be the same. i breezed through the illness, so i assumed a full recovery. Now 4 days after symptoms are gone, i can still feel a shortness of breathe lingering. of course, this freezing, dry climate is not helping the situation. anyone else have experience after a mild case? or recommendations on rest?
  7. the carbon rim is very stiff, while the tire sidewall will deform a ton, so basically the edge of the rim cuts through the tire right above the bead: https://www.bikemag.com/gear-features/blueprint/blueprint-enve-eliminates-pinch-flats/
  8. In my experience, when running tubeless, Carbon rims are notorious for pinch flats on the rear. I have never had a tubeless pinch flat on an alloy rim. (although i'm sure its possible) Personally, i solved this issue by going to Maxxis DD casing in the rear and keeping my pressure up. But, i wouldn't assume the change from HT to FS made much difference regarding pinch flats.
  9. i was thinking about adding a quart sized ziplock to my pack specifically for picking up poop bags. ziplock the poop bag, then put it in my pack, seems pretty safe, right?
  10. There is nothing here. No pump track, no park. just a bit of empty lot behind dart bowl. i did a 'suggest an edit' on the google page to remove.
  11. my goal is to pick up one or two pieces of trash every ride. not sure what to do with the poop bags, i'm not gonna put that in my pack.
  12. any update on the original post? is the manufacturer going to replace the rim or wheel for free?
  13. What's a Theckla? i goggled it. not aware of anything in this area. i will drive by just to confirm. and i rode the one at Reimers over a year ago. its hella rickety.
  14. I guess you missed the party in the rose garden? https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/fauci-calls-amy-coney-barrett-ceremony-rose-garden-superspreader-event-n1242781
  15. seems like a manufacturing defect. manufacturer should replace for free. Most manufacturers have a 'crash replacement' program where it costs $300-400 to replace the rim. I think the major exception is Santa Cruz Reserve, which will cover any damage for free.
  16. Regarding Bull Creek Greenbelt, its good to ride, but not alot of people do. i think because its not that interesting, unless you link it up to surrounding trails. I've been avoiding it personally during the pandemic, because of foot traffic. https://www.trailforks.com/region/bull-creek-greenbelt/ No bikes in Balcones Preserve. (although for the first time i saw two people biking there this weekend on gravel rigs) No bikes at Riverplace, its hiking only at mt lakeway, i ride the north side and the southside.
  17. go ride Dana Peak at lake Stillhouse, its a blast: https://www.trailforks.com/region/dana-peak-park/
  18. this thread delivers. you should buy it, just so we can keep making fun.
  19. Maybe the key is just to try the new Shimano stuff. I have not ridden Shimano 11 or 12 speed, but all the reviewers seem to gush over the new hyperglide stuff. my only experience is with road bikes, where I very much prefer the feel of Shimano shifting.
  20. i've always liked BSS, And have had only good experiences with service at the Research branch. Have also rented from the downtown location, and that's a nice big store where Trek can clearly setup shop. wouldn't be suprised to see them sell off the other locations, but who knows. I wonder what will happen to the BSS team? any news Antonio?
  21. Regarding progression, looks like they are opening a trail specifically for this. Pretty cool: You asked for it — you got it! Centipede is our newest trail at Spider Mountain, opening Saturday, December 19. Centipede is a fantastic way to progress a beginner rider from green to blue, but terrific fun for anyone. The trail starts halfway down the mountain between Tarantula and Viper's Den and has incredible flow, drops, and rollers. We can't wait for you to try it out.
  22. the runs are quite short, except for the green trail, so i find you're actually spending more time on the lift then riding. So i can ride all day no problem. the runs are fun, and there is plenty of stuff to challenge you, but i'm not sure i would qualify the trails as progressive in the same way you see at other bike parks.
  23. Did they open a donut shop on top of reveille peak?
  24. thanks for the heads up, looks great.
  25. These guys welded a cracked front derailleur hanger on my road bike, which was aluminum: K & K Welding LLC 3805 Wadford St, Austin, TX 78704 (512) 444-7485
