I just used Trail Labs. it was a generally good experience. you're looking at a week minimum downtime. And since you are paying for shipping, it doesn't seem like the most efficient process. But you are paying for piece of mind.

IMO, Ripmo can still be super fun at Walnut and Brushy. And the Ripley is more than capable of riding the greenbelt. If you prefer plowing through stuff and still plan on hitting some bike parks, stick with the Ripmo. If you want to go for longer 3+ hour rides, and be a little more diligent about line choice, then Ripley it is. The warranty piece needs to certainly be considered as well.

IMO, not a great idea for a new rider. Walnut, Brushy, and the greenbelt are the best places to hone your skills,

Well, another announcement

thanks for the update. there are always other houses, so dodging that bullet was probably for the best. Crazy thing is in Austin right now buyers are giving inspection waivers because the market is so hot. -
Let's talk Air Compressors

been using this exact model of craftsman for a bout 4 years. no issues. works great for me. Have also done a decent amount of nailing with it. -
i would say that 90% of the trail drains quite well. But that last 10% is either giant puddles that you can't really ride around or the super muddy section near the end. I usually like to give it a day to dry out. But like Barry said, the motos are always going to be way worse for the trail, so you can ride it if you want.

Bentonville Trail Question

i don't think you can go wrong, but i'll throw Mt Nebo in there. Looks pretty epic. This ride took 3.5 hours total. 1.5 hours moving. Here's the full playlist, if you want more previews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjr0xjHkkOZRjOjK9S1uz75CkfRIjYLM1 -
Indian Peaks Traverse - Boulder to Winter Park
circuitbreaker replied to FrankRizzo's topic in Mountain Biking Discussion
Just randomly guessing its a 10-12 hour ride. So, yes, doable in one day. On the .org site, they are hinting at just that: imagine a 60-mile continuous expanse of trail that endurance riders and runners can do in one long, blissful stretch. https://indianpeakstraverse.org/ -
i've been taking my road bike to galveston. its much more entertaining to ride up and down the highway and enjoy the scenery. i will also ride it for fun on the beach. but not too much because of the drivetrain thing. the sand at galveston is pretty hard packed, so it actually rides quite well. if you are going, just take your bike. its fun to ride either way, but don't think i'd try to do 20 miles on the beach or anything. if you have a backup bike, that would be preferred.

i would check with top gunn: https://www.topgunn.net/equipment-rentals-austin-tx.asp

i called them about 3 weeks ago. they said that they "were not servicing mountain bikes at this time."

i actually use an old seatpost for my breaker bar. the seat is still on it too. hasn't failed me yet.

yeah, if you're looking to keep it light, Camp Tejas is the best start, you can head in either direction. Cedar Breaks is the roughest, followed by Overlook.

I see you've been riding the Rock Chair Preserve. Protecting the endangered rock chair from encroaching urban expansion. Enjoy it while you can.

Saw this announcement regarding Carol Lee Preserve in my neighborhood paper. Hopefully, this doesn't mean a fence is in the future. https://www.hillcountrydevelopment.org/carolleepreserve -
there is an awesome looking trail on the north rim in the national forest. if you want more info, i can dig it up. trail forks shows some trails on the south rim and a greenway: https://www.trailforks.com/region/grand-canyon-national-park-36003/ and flagstaff looks to have a ton of trails: https://www.trailforks.com/region/flagstaff/

Thanks everyone for sharing your experience. i am now 8 days post symptoms. will wait two more days before trying to ride. i was outside most of the afternoon cutting limbs. my heartrate seems to shoot up easily; a fluttery feeling. not something i'm used to. Still kind of tired, want too sleep more than typical. i am going to ease back into riding. i'm not in a rush, and don't want to risk stressing my systems too much. this is definitely an atypical recovery for me. after a cold, i'm usually out running or biking the next day trying to shake it.
-
Not a lot of data out there. Found this GMBN video very helpful, basically they recommend 10 days of rest after symptoms are gone. I am currently recovering from a mild case, and have a growing concern that my lungs will never be the same. i breezed through the illness, so i assumed a full recovery. Now 4 days after symptoms are gone, i can still feel a shortness of breathe lingering. of course, this freezing, dry climate is not helping the situation. anyone else have experience after a mild case? or recommendations on rest?

the carbon rim is very stiff, while the tire sidewall will deform a ton, so basically the edge of the rim cuts through the tire right above the bead: https://www.bikemag.com/gear-features/blueprint/blueprint-enve-eliminates-pinch-flats/
-
In my experience, when running tubeless, Carbon rims are notorious for pinch flats on the rear. I have never had a tubeless pinch flat on an alloy rim. (although i'm sure its possible) Personally, i solved this issue by going to Maxxis DD casing in the rear and keeping my pressure up. But, i wouldn't assume the change from HT to FS made much difference regarding pinch flats.

i was thinking about adding a quart sized ziplock to my pack specifically for picking up poop bags. ziplock the poop bag, then put it in my pack, seems pretty safe, right?
