  1. I really don't care about KOMs. I am also not convinced that e-bikes (and particularly the folks buying those e-bikes) will do any more damage than those of us that can do 1.5kW in short bursts, or drag the rear tire around turns, etc. I do share the concern about the slippery slope though. I'm OK with these one-wheel and e-bikes b/c torque is limited, but I'd be concerned that electric motorcycles would slip by.
  2. +1 We've taken a snake to them. We donate to them regularly.
  3. I've actually seen them enjoy the challenge. I've seen them sessioning stuff at Walnut.
  4. I've already posted about this elsewhere. I think these guys are good as far as I'm concerned. My experience when meeting them is positive (goes to show we all should strive to make a good first impression!) Their big fat tires are easier on the trail than some of our tires. Unlike people on scooters, these guys are actually working out. It looks to me like surfing on trails which I think is awesome.
  5. Even on Sunday, the first loop still had those rocks being extremely slick. Folks, if you go riding, watch out for the green rocks!
  6. Yeah, for sure I've had frustration with my Garmin stuff. I've sent my 705 back 4 times ($107 replacement policy). The latest 520+ is nice, but my main issue is with how to load files. My computer won't recognize it no matter what I do. It connects to my phone via bluetooth. So my only option is to load routes to Connect online, then the Connect app syncs, and I can push the routes to my 520+ that way. It's OK as far as I'm concerned. When I was looking for a new device, I almost went with the Wahoo Elemnt. Everyone loves it. Everyone says it's more intuitive. I only didn't because of my ANT+ accessories and my old devices (I need 2 for 24hr races) and I got a killer deal on the 520+. I'm kinda kicking myself for that decision...
  7. I always wondered why Matthew Lee opted for a Lefty for Tour Divide. It cost him some time the year of the documentary waiting for Lefty parts. For what it's worth, I have a Fox straight steerer 32 RLC on my SS and I love it. It's so simple and works so well. If they had one without a knob I'd get that.
  8. Just remove it from the start-up items to keep it from starting upon booting. Now, as far as it starting when a Garmin gets plugged in, I hadn't heard of that, but I did find a solution: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=1U931Uczj36W9sUBa8c2N6
  9. Bee in the car? I used to have a 2002 V8 Explorer back when I had to tow a trailer, and it had a limited slip diff. It was lively to drive when it was wet and fun to get sideways.
  10. Use Garmin Connect. You can load your file into it, then output a TCX file which is what your 800 needs. Then use Garmin Express to load the file to your device, or put the file into the "new files" folder if you have it mounted as a drive. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/
  11. Alright BCGB experts, 0.02-0.03" between yesterday and today. Trails should be good today right?
  12. It's really cool. You gotta hit it soon. I know I missed some of it when I rode it last weekend, but what I hit was fun, and there are some features back there. I want to go with some trashbags though to pick up all the fast food trash right behind the shops though.
  13. This may be the tool I turned in my lathe that I couldn't remember what it was for. I guess it's been a while since I replaced one of these bushings. My Tallboy used to go through them very quickly. The Czar not so much apparently.
  14. I've met a ranch hand that carried his own surgical stapler. That will leave a nice scar to tell stories about.
  15. How was it? Will you try a full or something else? I've done one half (3M) and was a bit slower than expected. I have no inclination to do that again or a full marathon, but strangely the ultra marathons have a calling to me. Keeping an eye on the running version of the Dragon Slayer...
  16. Sell those movie rights, make a fortune. Looking forward to the continuation of this saga!
  17. Does replacing 6 pivot bushings and a rocker pivot count for anything?
  18. No fish tanks, no ammo, cash only please. I wish I could say I will go ride Pace Bend Sunday and I'll bring the bike with me for you to examine, but this rain is making it not likely.
  19. On Sunday afternoon it was the same story. We picked our bikes up walked and over the forms and there was no concrete. You could tell people have been riding over the branches, and likely over the barriers too. I bet that concrete was firm to the touch, but not once you put full weight on it.
  20. More details here: The pictures are not the best.
  21. That's surprising. What year Hotrock is this? The cheapest Tektro brakes I could find are adjustable. I know at least some years of the Hotrock came with Tektro levers and grip shifts. I used a Tektro lever for the rear v-brake on my son's Hardrock since I put in an LX shifter and the stock ones are integrated brake. The Stock Hardrock from 2014 has a screw from the backside. These integrated levers from 2014 don't even have a model name, but I think newer Hardocks come with Tourney which are advertised as tool-less reach adjustment. I may be getting rid of my Tektro levers (I think I bought a pair and only used one) since nobody is interested in the 26" hardrock as is. I am pretty sure I'll be parting it out and putting the bike to full stock. One interesting thing, the XS hardrock 26" weighed about as much as the 24" hotrock. Using XT 9speed parts and my old Manitou R7 I was able to knock off about 3-4lbs off the hardrock. That helped my very skinny son do better on the trail. Those bikes come with 175mm cranks too. I was surprised. I've since added about 2lbs when I put a Rhyno Lite (anything but lite!) BMX rear wheel. He kept bending them and pinch flatting with the stock ones...and I hate adjusting the cones. Save me the work of changing parts over and I'll knock $100 off that upgraded Hardrock.
  22. I was actually trying to remember but I thought the Hotrock had adjustable levers. The Hardrock does for sure.
