  1. There are 106 registered now and available spots are running low. If you are planning on riding this, but have not registered yet, might I suggest now is a good time? https://legacy.usacycling.org/register/2018-1939 We also have some jersey prototypes. The finals will be very similar. One version for each ride distance completed (1, 2, or 3 laps). Pricing will probably be around $75.

  2. Wife and i did a turn and burn to Chattanooga over thanksgiving last year and really enjoyed the trip. The trails were very well designed and maintained and offered a little something for everyone. Raccoon mountain recreational area was blast. Fast flow trails with berms, drops and all the good stuff to put a smile on your face. Theres also some fun trails to ride about 30-45 min away in Georgia, and if you're channeling your inner Seth, Winrock is about 2hrs away. Downtown Chattanooga was clean, quiet and surprisingly modern with lots of friendly people and good food & booze to go around. Liquor stores have a taproom and can pour! Lastly, if you can, stay in the Read House historic hotel as it been renovated and had many famous quests and apparently also has a haunted room. https://www.mtbproject.com/directory/8012838/raccoon-mountain PB pron https://www.pinkbike.com/video/468277/ What snaps i took:

  3. You asked if EB is too easy... why worry about how to add mileage if we can just add "trail features" like this.

  4. Yeah, the trails will still be too wet so I am going to do another veggie buffet this Sunday. If anyone wants to join, I will start at Ramsey Park (https://goo.gl/maps/jCfcL7m8y7A2) at 9AM. At my pace it should take about 5 hours, so we should be back ~2 or 2:30. Route will follow the EB route to Zilker, MoPac frontage, up 360, Courtyard, City Park Road, lap around the outside of City Park, Jester, 360, Spicewood Springs to St. Ed's, Yaupon, Jollyville, Duval, S. Walnut Creek trail, then back down Shoal Creek to the start. This is not an official ride, just my training ride, but if you want to join, we'll see you there. This means I am not responsible for you, it is self paced and you are just there for the fun. If you fall behind or get lost I won't be responsible. My pace is ~10-11MPH and I will be on a mountain bike, not a road bike.

  5. I can’t find where Honeybadger said it, but I took a sneak peek (by walking) at the surprises he has been building. Those improvements look so fun.....now I just hope it drys out enough to use them soon. Thank you for the awesome new features! Scott

  8. Otero Canyon just outside of Albuquerque is fun. I ride the Sandia foothills frequently. There’s nothing technical on the foothill side, but a good spot for a couple of hours of riding.

  11. The DragonSlayer is in need of a few brave volunteers to assist with things like set-up/tear-down parking control, registration, restocking water stations, etc. You will be fed something and given something to drink. I don't know what yet but should be tasty. Best of all, your help will be greatly appreciated. The event is November 18th and will run all day, though not everyone will be needed all day or all the time. I am looking for about 12 people. Post up a comment or message me or the page (https://www.facebook.com/EnduraRaceLLC/). Todd Denham (the 6-lap of the Dragon in 24 hrs ultra rider) will be in touch as he has agreed to be the wrangler of volunteers.

  14. Thanks Cody. Now my office is at 183 / Oak Knoll so I’m 10 min from Yaupon. Do-able for extended lunch ride and we have showers. So anything close to Great Hills is probably what I’m after. Last time I did the dam loop w/Big View to city park rd to Courtyard was when we used to start at Cycle 360. So yeah, been a while! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  17. Chances of Burro Pass being open are slim. In 4 trips to Moab I have yet to get to ride Porcupine from the very top. Burro Pass was only open for one day on two different trips. Of course I planned to ride it the next day and it was closed. The wife and I drive to Moab and stop many places along the way to ride and break up the drive. I have a ton of maps I will share as long as you return them before we start our next trip in late October. Some general locations we have stopped to ride Palo Duro Tx - tons of trails, we have barely scratched the surface due to heat, rain and races on the trail Taos NM - good riding near town best riding in the mountain above. South Boundary Trail and trails across from the ski area Durango CO - too many to list check with local bike shop Phil's World Cortez CO - on my MUST ride when passing thru Moab - Too many to list but I have 10 - 15 maps. Don't forget there are shuttles to the more distant trails Grand Junction CO Fruita CO Breckenridge CO Frisco / Dillon / Silverthorne CO Denver / Boulder CO (mountains just west) Salida CO - never stopped there but hear good things

  18. https://goo.gl/maps/xF1f7UgnPyz It might have been better to just make this a Phoenix page, as there are enough stellar trails in the area to keep a rider busy for a couple of weeks... but SoMo is my personal go-to... The most well known trail on the mountain is the National Trail, which might be my personal favorite anywhere, particularly the eastern descent from the Buena Vista parking area to the Pima Canyon parking area. Other good options include (but not limited to Geronimo and Mormon, and Holbert if you really want to test your tech skills. Lots of shuttling options in the park for those who don't want to waste energy climbing. All of the trails are shown on Google Maps if you zoom in. Lot of other good AZ maps here, including SoMo: https://www.globalbikes.info/about/trail-maps-pg1338.htm Previews: Me and Ganderson on National; he just got his gimbal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AB8p3cLVy1c Second run down following him this time (and a few sections and lines he didn't show): Holbert: Geronimo: The epic rest of National, heading west (Tree Magnet, Dr. D & Seths Pool):

  20. Asshole and Clueless are two different characters. A smile on a mud caked rider could mean, "wow, that was fun" not, "I know I'm wrecking the trail." So I would start a conversation with, "Do you know we are not suppose to ride the trails when muddy because it ruts them up and and causes them to erode more rapidly?" If the guy says something, "yes, but it's so fun" THEN I would light into him with, "Well then you're just an asshole, aren't you?"

  21. I think polite confrontation is perfectly fine. If you’re with your kids, then simply stay calm as an example and if the other guy loses it, then there is a teaching moment for them to see how they should act in the face of pure stupidity. Just my 2 cents, but I personally really enjoy letting my kids get real world looks at how to properly handle assholes. This obviously assumes the guy would have been an asshole about it if your approach was polite. Base your approach in fact, also.

  22. Yea, like I said, you could easily spend a couple weeks exploring trails in the Phoenix area, and most are better than anything here, but IMO, SoMo is Moab good... or better; destination worthy by itself. I've driven there and back for a 3 day weekend before. Definitely more for advanced riders, but there are blue trails too, and definitely best during the week, but I've found the Phoenix area hikers to have a much better attitude than those in other areas, like CO. I always went to McDowell (usually Pemberton) when I wanted to pack in easy mileage or night riding, but it's mostly flat (comparatively) and there's nothing to shuttle for those that are descent biased. Other good rides are Hawes/Usery/Pass Mt, Phoenix Mt Preserve (Trail 100), Pima & Dynamite (serious fun, but bring a good map/GPS and watch for motorcycles), White Tanks, Estrella, etc... all in the Phoenix metro area.

  24. I've compiled many of the reports from the old Mojo site into the main post in this thread for future reference. Hope nobody minds me doing that. Lot's of good info that I felt would be beneficial and prevent folks from having to repost. Each post is in quotes with the OP credited.

  25. I'm fortunate enough to be able to keep a bike in Colorado Springs. If I leave on the first DIA flight Friday morning, and take a late afternoon flight back on Monday (usually using miles), I get four awesome high altitude rides in. Don't get rid of your old bikes - make friends in Colorado!
