  1. Ok, I'll play along too.... Got back last week from a 10 day trip to CO. We called it a "greatest hits" ride. I'll let you decide. Early on we hit up Monarch Crest trail Then we went over to CB for some 401. Next up we were in Telluride for the annual Yeti Tribe gathering. Riding in the high alpine aspens. Then for a change of pace we ended up in Fruita riding some of the Kokopelli trail stuff

  3. I was born and raised up there (Enumclaw). Mt Rainer Park (area) has some awesome stuff, and only a couple hours out of Seattle. I think they even have bike rentals now in Enumclaw. Check these areas out...if anything you get and awesome view if it isn't raining..and the plus side of that. Even if it is raining, you can still ride!! https://www.evo.com/travel-guides/bike/washington/south-cascades/410-rainier

  4. Lived there for 30+ years. Confirmed, Duthie and Tiger are some of your best bets but very different places. Evergreen is an excellent resource. Tiger is spider mountain but with 200' to 1200' of elevation and no lift. You could easily spend all day here riding up the forest road and bombing down. MTB Project/trail forks has good maps. Duthie has a little of everything. XC, Groomed Flow, Short Downhill, jumplines, etc. Spend 30mins or 6+ hours. MTB Project/trail forks has good maps but honestly, it's almost impossible to get lost, everything starts and ends at the central hub. Watch out for 5-13yo groms who make you look bad because they've been riding daily this summer on their $6K bikes while their soccer mom's idle in the parking lot reading the latest Oprah book club book. I'm not bitter. Depending on where you are based out of also check out: Paradise valley conservation (Mostly XC) St Edwards Park (XC/ All Mountain) Galbraith (Near Bellingham, closer to Canada) Bike rentals aren't as common. The only place I remember was this place, they needed a hefty CC hold to send the bike out though. https://www.kirklandbikes.com/articles/demo-bikes-pg67.htm

  5. I just checked the Leadville 100 results for 2019 and our own Hoss Kleinschmidt from Austin finished in less than 12 hours. I’ve ridden with Hoss on many occasions and he is a machine. Congrats to Hoss and all the other finishers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. A private mountain bike/airgun biathlon program that I run will be expanding its operations. A great trail system near Hamilton Pool offers many different course options. There are 2 basic classes. Air pistol only and air pistol/air rifle. The cost to participate is very low for the air pistol class as we use the Crosman Vigilante that sells for about 50 dollars. Rifles are open to most any .177 operating at less than 12 foot pounds of muzzle energy. Safety clinics/orientation sessions are now forming. Over 21 years of age only at this time. A separate junior program could be set up if there are enough participants. If interested pm me your email to get on the information list.

  8. Definitely. Rode there 3 weeks ago and took a friends newbie 14 yo son on his first real trail ride there. His mom had to buy him a better bike he had so much fun. When you get to the big open area at the top of the fire road there’s a big map that has all the trails color coded by difficulty. SUPER well marked and it all loops back to the open area. As stated above there was a grom riding camp going on and those kids were hucking off stuff twice their height like nothing! The XC stuff is fun swoopy up/down without any rocks etc. there’s some fun optional obstacles on the XC to hop on if you want. Or take it up a notch on the jump lines. It was a bit wet so I only rode a few lines. Some of the raw wood was slick as snot! Btw from parking area you ride path along highway 200 yds to a fire road, then up road 2/3 mi to open area. 9. Awesome! Make sure you spend some time on the skills area (drops, jumps, skinnies etc) in the center pavilion area. Then you can come back after drinking the kool-aid and push for one at brushy! 😉

  12. Nope, that was just me and a buddy doing Monarch, that was "dad's trip" to CO. ;) Thanks for the info, it's helpful. I'm thinking of shuttling to Garcia Park. This will be day 1 for us and the next 2 days will be lift-serve at the resort. I'm thinking the DH runs will be the highlight of the trip...but I also want him to get a decent XC taste while we are out there too. [I need to keep his 'reality' in check, that shuttle runs are a treat in life, not the main course] He's a pretty competent rider, but he is young and has not been riding as much this summer. I think better safe that sorry is wise. Are you Sluggo on strava? I may look a little closer at your ride profile. Thanks again, CJB

  13. Probably Tiger or Duthie are your best bets. Check out the local trail alliance for more info. https://www.evergreenmtb.org/trails

  14. If the boy did Monarch, he should be fine on the full SBT.

  16. We used Turquoise Tours for the shuttle from a park close to Taos. We rode the full SBT at 22 miles w 2k of climbing. I think they offer a shuttle to Garcia Park? Garcia Park is 13 miles from where you park with short climb to the good stuff. I thought the full SBT was harder than the Lost Lake trail at 13 miles and 2.5k of climbing, but I was cooked from riding park on our 1st day.

  17. I was there yesterday (didn’t ride) and my friend was telling me about the trails in the Issaquah area, Tiger Mountain to be specific. The previous time I was in Seattle I went to Wenatchee, but that’s a longer drive. I’d venture to say that’s going to be the closest to Seattle proper but I’d be interested in what others say.

  21. It's going to happen, it's near impossible to stop them from sometimes getting through. Just report them and I'll take care of them as soon as I see the reports (or I see the bots myself). I do have third-party software installed that catches most of the bots, but it's never going to catch 100% of them. Unfortunately I was gone for a while today and wasn't able to nuke that particular bot and delete their posts until now. ..Al

  22. I think I might have 2 more people interested. They don't post here, but I ride with them. We'll see, hopefully they'll sign up.

  23. Okay, so update... we (he and I) went through the process again, and designed the perfect bike, then all this happened: https://singletrackworld.com/2019/05/marino-bikes-sell-off-of-sick-bicycles-frames/ https://www.pinkbike.com/news/sick-bicycles-manufacturer-selling-off-sick-branded-frames-claiming-lack-of-payment.html https://www.archynewsy.com/manufacturer-of-sick-bicycles-that-sell-frames-claiming-no-payment/ Followed by this: Wife in the Hospital... So, we'll just have to make the most of the frame I have for now... I went ahead and built it as-intended: My shoulders finally felt good enough to get out on it since the previous post, and I have to say, this thing feels even better than I remembered; I pretty much hit the nail on the head! If I ever get the new one, it'll be the perfect hardtail, IMO (it's already the best I've ever ridden). But alas, my shoulders didn't last long, so I'm going to chill until at least fall...

  24. It's pretty easy to spot the stolen bikes for sale on cl, offer up and face book. Pics taken in the woods with a trash pile or grocery cart in the back ground or way off pricing too high or low. https://offerup.com/item/detail/726052505/ https://offerup.com/item/detail/725926059/ Here's another good one, stolen wheels https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/400311910605967/ and the bike they came off of, I messaged her a couple days ago about her wheels for sale on face book. https://offerup.com/item/detail/722872029/

  25. Due to crappy humid weather this has been my go to bike for the last 13 days. Decided to do a 30 rides in 30 days challenge. 19.1 miles per day currently at mile 247 as of today.
