  1. Wow. I did not know this was going to hit the forums yet. Yes, we cut in some trail before we went to Whistler for the summer. The trails are still rough and need work so if you ride, ride appropriately. Christ Church gave us (FR512) permission to build on their land and we will be adding much more (when it gets cooler - still haven't acclimated back to TX heat). In the meantime, if you ride there, please be respectful, don't ride/park in the parking lot. Enter either from Suburban Ninja or by the fire station. Having trails there is new for them and we want this to be a positive experience for them. We're still figuring out logistics. As it grows and we get more features in, we will be doing skills clinics and possibly Wednesday Night Rides with the Peddler. We have already had machines out there, but we would like to do much more. If there's interest, we will set up a Go Fund Me to accelerate our building and perhaps organize some dig days if anyone wants to pitch in and help. There is a lot of potential out there and we're excited to have progressive park-type trails so close to BC. BIG THANKS to Christ Church for making this available.

  2. I was reading a bunch of posts on SC owners' Farcebook page about reserves recently. There's always a bunch of knuckle draggers that break everything and piss and moan about speed of warranty claims, but the general consensus was they stand up to the warranty without question on the reserves, and most were riding within a week. This was even on overseas posts. Pretty impressive. Just can't justify the expense on the wheels yet. I eventually break frames not wheels. ๐Ÿ˜ž I found on frames it's the shop not SC that makes the difference. BSS did great on mine.

  3. I've been doing the same with halloween candy. Nothing builds that father-son bond like drugging unsuspecting kids together.

  7. Got to see them at Liberty Lunch in 83 or 84. Jello had a broken leg, on crutches and warned a bunch of punks not to stage dive. Maybe 5 notes in and then it was on. I think Die Kruzen from Oklahoma was the backup band? Iโ€™m lucky that Liberty Lunch was a big part of my 20โ€™s.

  9. Solid so far. I rode Cedar Breaks - Russell and back and had zero complaints. Held up well and grip was good. Hoping to get out to City Park soon but haven't had the chance yet.

  10. Has anyone thought about aqua jogging for knee rehab? Can be boring, but it's zero impact in the water, so could be a nice respite from the heat at Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. You can even do structured workouts: runnersconnect.net/coach-corner/aqua-jogging-for-runners/

  11. Because since 2011 I've bent, dented and otherwise destroyed at least 6 rims, and about 15 or so rear hubs--including a shit-ton of Stan's rims and hubs. But since February I've put 3.7K miles on my Santa Cruz Reserve37/I9 combo and it hasn't so much as come out of true. And when I do manage to kill the rim, they'll replace it. So far I'm at about 48 cents per mile. https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/reserve-wheels-info I suppose they'll send me that high five in mail.

  12. You said not $2k but not sure what your limit is. I bought my bike used from a well-known local endurance racer and it came with Nox Composite wheels and DT240s (I don't think I would have otherwise sprung for carbon wheels then). I love the design of my Chris King hubs better, but these 240s seem to be bulletproof and from what I understand, so are the 350 hubs. You can get a built custom (decal color, nipple color, spokes) carbon wheelset with DT350 hubs from noxcomposites.com for <$1400. You can also send them your current hubs and they'll build a wheelset with them. The wheels are hand-built in Tennessee. So far my wheels are lasting me through evertyhing I've put them through not to mention what the previous owner put them through, but when I need new wheels, I'm going to go back to Nox for sure.

  14. I ran a pair of Panaracers several years ago. I can't remember the model name, but the tread pattern looked like a direct Nevegal knockoff. They were heavy, but grippy and lasted a long time from what I can recall.

  15. starbike.com has been my source for DT on the cheap. So far, no issues with receiving goods but always recommend using paypal just in case. https://www.starbike.com/en/dt-swiss-xm-481-29/ https://www.starbike.com/en/dt-swiss-competition-spoke-j-bend-black/ https://www.starbike.com/en/dt-swiss-350-rear-hub-disc-6-hole-j-bend/#

  18. Lucky bastard! DK and punk played a huge part in how I viewed the world as a young person. Still does to this day. I remember subscribing to ATs zines and handing them out to friends at school, only to have pissed parents calling my house. Only got to see Jello do spoken word at the University of Utah, and stopped by alternative tentacles studio to fanboy a bit. Smut Peddlers was the last hurrah for punk for me, although I still crank it up when the wife's gone๐Ÿ˜‚

  19. That is the one. I have had four (I think) different conversations about adding a "B-Line" there. Yes - it is rideable as is. It is even easier now that someone has created a gentler line around the ledge. How hard/easy it is to ride is your personal opinion. That may include how tired you are or how hot it is when you ride it. No - there will never be a "B-Line" around it unless -->YOU<-- get TxDOT to move the road. If you don't like that spot - don't ride it. Walk it. Or ride a different trail. This trail is NOT the only way to get to other trails.

  20. this trail also rejoins the main trail and its about 3/4 of a mile long all told. It is also on the DS2019 route, but CCW. I recently cleaned and cleared that trail as well as 80% of the south shoreline. It's a good time to go ride.

  25. I ran across another section as I was just wondering around out there! Not sure exactly were it's at but ended up riding up it and at the top it was near a fire house and church. Big berms and jumps! Bigger than when you drop in at peddler.
