  1. I couldn't find a separate dedicated Spider Mountain thread, so I'll start here with this item. The January print issue of Texas Highways showcases an article titled 13 Things To Do In 2020 and biking at Spider Mountain made the list. That page is "Choose Your Adventure at Lake Buchanan" and the print version features two large photos of Spider Mountain, one showing people on the lift and the other a mountain biker w/ bike looking out over Lake Buchanan and the first part of the text highlights Spider Mountain. To see the online version (which doesn't show pics of mountain bikers) just click on the link above and scroll down. Text is the same. This is kind of a big deal and should get Spider Mountain lots of attention.

  2. That's an overgeneralization. I've have many conversations with government workers who don't have a problem with spitting when they talk.

  3. Am I the only one who gets pissed off when on coming riders don't even attempt to slow down or move over? When I see oncoming traffic on the trail I always slow down to make sure everyone can pass each other safely. I'm noticing this becoming a trend on the SATN- rode on the 31st with my buddy and out of the 5 encounters we had with oncoming bikers, 1 made an attempt to slow down when we did. What's the rule, higher ratio of spandex commands ROW?

  4. Should not be an issue. I will make sure they get it updated if is a problem. Thanks for registering!

  5. It's a good thing we're not in Australia. Wait, faulty pedals are the least of Australian problems at the moment.

  6. If you're going through Montgomery AL, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice is incredible. No, you can't ride your bike in it. It's an immersive, breathtaking piece of art though.

  9. I just booked this place for a trip in May. I haven't stayed there but it checks off all the boxes and the price is great... https://www.vrbo.com/1440937?adultsCount=4&arrival=2020-05-23&departure=2020-05-27 I stayed in this place on my first trip to Bentonville a few years ago. No complaints other than the fact that the garage is off-limits and they don't want you to park your bikes inside... https://www.vrbo.com/1095618?adultsCount=4&arrival=2020-05-23&departure=2020-05-27

  11. Ive been building a house in-between Boerne and Sisterdale for the last 3 months and drive thru Devils Backbone area daily. Everyday I think, omg if somebody had some of this land to build some kickass mtb trails on...

  12. Makes sense. Maybe you should be a doctor. I wonder if the water used in brewing beer is filtered? I would think so, so that will be my strategy.

  13. On taco mans route, Ditto coldwater east of Birmingham. Also ridden Oak Mtn SP and tannehill SP south side of bham, chewcla near Montgomery/Auburn, ridgeland near Jackson, and mt Zion south of Jackson in Brookhaven, Lincoln Parish Park in Ruston, Tyler SP. All better than the few things I’ve ridden in FL or lower Alabama. Too sandy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  14. It was interesting for sure. But I had fun playing "name that movie" from the short clips.

  15. It's totally true for bikes. Rock gardens are a nightmare slowly plodding through them. Dropping the hammer and floating over them is way easier.

  16. Even though it rained slightly earlier, the trails are in good shape. Maybe a slick rock or two, but you can do it. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

  17. Maybe... My favorite trails are some unspoken trails near my house at 2222 and 360. That is the vibe I am going for here. It's got some elevation, so lots of long contour run goat trail with switchbacks is the plan. The two long lengths are about 1200ft. Over 30 ac I think I can get close to 4 miles out there without getting redundant. From this main SS friendly trail I hope to add Chutes and Ladder style drop downs, so you could connect the long stretches with a shorter more straight down path to get to the bottom with more excitement. Once we get better bearings and more free time in Feb/March, I'll start marking trail. Then perhaps look for folks that want to drink beers and build trail. It's about 15 min from El Rancho Cima and is part of the Devils Backbone.
