  1. Dude...I have but one piece of advice for you and if you ever listen to anyone on the internet, listen to this: Ride with your kids every chance you get. They are enjoying themselves, outside, exercising, and doing something that you can do with them. There is no better way to spend your time. If I could go back in time and relive all those rides with my kids, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Once they find hobbies that you only watch (rock climbing, gymnastics, parkour, ballet, etc....), you'll be on the sidelines wishing you were out riding log loops for the third time in a row while they pedaled in front of you dodging every root. Good times.

  2. Took the kid to Milburn this evening. Still getting used to his new bike on bigger hills, but did good.

  3. Ok slackers. Today is the last building day on Bob Ross before it opens (4:30pm-6:30pm). If you want good trail karma come help.

  4. I’ll try to make it out there. I’m going to be moving a couple of 10’ cedar logs over to Picnic after work. Hoping that won’t take long. I’ll have to snap a picture of how I’m moving these things 😂

  5. Bought at TotalWine. My go-to place this pandemic. @Barry what I had before this bottle was a Rittenhouse Rye (we like Manhattans but it's pretty good straight) at almost 1/3 the cost. I've bought it twice in fact. I have had the Uigeadail and it's really good. It's the smokiest Scotch I've ever tasted. I liked the Wee Beastie better though. I will check out the Talisker 10 next time. I did try the Lineage. It didn't last long! I had a bit more of the Real Ale last night and was able to taste it a bit more. I stand by my initial assessment, good but not $65 good.

  6. I used to think MMS was weak sauce. All I had seen were the main trails. That section in the back is another world and is nothing but trouble. Maybe it's the wasps, the slick rocks or surprise porcupines. That place is wild, a little bit scary and fun as heck.

  7. It's good. I only had a tiny taste so far, but for $65 I think I prefer something a wee bit more Scottish and more peaty.

  9. I doubt he cares what you think. The fellow spent 35 years building a business - you can't blame him for selling at a good time, and probably having a retirement vs not having one.

  10. Meetings from 4-6 today but if there's work left to do on Sat I can make it out. Appreciate all that's being done out there.

  12. did I miss something? how does a suspension service cost almost as much as a whole new fork? most bike shops will do that for prices comparable to 812 Suspension, so around $200 if the service is detailed. I think you mis-read or someone misspoke. basic bath oil change might cost less than $100. basic bath oil and seal changes are not very difficult. it's always a DIY thing for me. i save hundreds $ a year that way.

  13. I saw these brands at TW yesterday. I noticed they had an interestingly named "Rye Grain Straight Malt Whisky." (85% malt, 15% rye malt). Neat for sure, but not $80 worth of interesting. I'm with you 100% on the price point. Why not just get Talisker 10 or Ardbeg Uigeadail? I know these small distilleries have to recover their considerable start-up investment before the bank really comes knocking, but pushing out young and overpriced whisky doesn't do them any favors. This is why I'm fan of the WhistlePig, HighWest and many other's model, where they either bulk buy or order contract distillate from one of the bigger outfits to sell under their brand while they get their own distillate up to par--so long as they're transparent about it (initially WP was not)! I've tried lots of USAian "craft" whiskies, and I've never found an acceptable bourbon. I've had some "not bad" bourbon, but for the same price, you can bet I'll enjoy a of bottle of RareBreed much more. But I have had good luck with both craft malts and ryes. This is why I like Balconies Lineage so much. It's a little young, but it's great for the price. And really, even their Classic Malt is quite good in the $60-70 range. They add a lot of flavor & value bottling at higher ABV.

  14. When you say it keeps sagging, does that mean it slips down when you are sitting on it or that it doesn't fully return? I used to have a KS eten (non-serviceable cartridge) that would not fully return so I had to reach down and pull it up the last inch or so manually. Each time it started doing that, I just gave it the basic service at home for $0 (well, plus the generous amount of Slick Honey), and it worked as good as new for several months until the next service. The basic service is basically taking it apart, wiping clean, and reassembling with ample amounts of Slick Honey. It's not hard to do. If it slips when you are sitting on it on the other hand, it is probably beyond just needing a good cleaning. In the words of the late great Eazy E, throw it in the gutter and go buy another.

  15. Yeah man been there with KS. You need a new cartridge. They "can" be serviced but it's more trouble than it's worth. You can usually buy them from $60 to $80 dollars. If you are going to pay someone else to service it and buy the parts, you're probably better off dumpstering it, and buying a different dropper post.

  16. It keeps sagging more and more. I just keep raising it so it is at full height after it sags. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Yeah, at that price point I can understand. Did you buy it at the brewery or locally?

  20. He’s got a custom built 24” with a lowered Fox fork, discs and carbon bits. But I do like your suggestion. He was pedaling a bike around 3-4, but for some reason his personality is extremely risk adverse. He’ll do a 10mile ride with me as long as it doesn’t involve “tricky, scary stuff” Basically I’ve figured out he has to be in the right mood and he has to watch other people do something a bunch of times until he’s analyzed exactly how to do it. Then, when nobody is watching he’ll nail it like an expert the first try...and act like it was no big deal. :P Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. My 8 year old has pretty much hijacked all my riding time. He can kind of do the full walnut route, but prefers to just cycle log loops, powerline, and close with bmx. Then my oldest (13) started to join us. She cant quite hang with the 8 yo. And the 5 yo is now going as well which means I get stuck doing .6 and log loops only.

  22. Us getting an update is a *nice to have*, you finding a job is a HELL of a lot more important. If I weren't stuck on calls with vendors I'd go check.
