  1. Just got back from 3hrs. Trails were excellent as was the weather. Go get some before it's a 100 f**king degrees. Didn't ride 1/4 or DD but what we did ride was excellent. Great ride Throet, Morris, and Christian, had a real good time. It's good to get out with good people.

  2. It's one of those mind over matter obstacles, really.

  3. He definitely looked pretty cheesedicky on that thing....but then again I’m about to put on lycra. But yeah, for some inborn reason I feel like he should keep that shit off the trails. Just because he is not pedaling or powering it himself doesn’t mean he’s a menace really, I guess. I’m not sure why it bugs me...maybe because mountain bikers are hated on but he’s riding a trail with something motorized...I dunno.

  4. As a follow up to this, I was trying to grease the stanchion and ended up breaking the dropper. Took it to the shop and $20 later, plus a 6-pack, we were running again. And then that broke. Reached out to PNW and they not only replaced it, but they sent it second day air so I had it in time for the death march. Awesome service, great people to work with. Will be buying another one for my hardtail now

  6. First time I rode that rock was at night and I was a lot fitter. Today I just went through the tight part because fuck it. Sick ride today. I’m absolutely cooked. I’m at the fitness level now where I tell myself I’m gonna make a charge at EBD, I get to the flat part just before it, shift down the casette one spot and then roll right to the base with a half ass wheelie and stop because I got ZERO gas and ZERO shot at riding up it. But oh well.

  8. I moved the two branches slightly to the left that were on top of that rock in Double Down yesterday afternoon. Alternate line is still blocked but now you can ride over the rock. I gotta say that rock is a lot more intimidating in person than it is on the pictures above.

  9. OK, my KS i950r was getting a little long in the tooth, dropped fine, but would not spring back. Even with service this condition has been a problem for most of its life. I was going to go have it serviced again (at ~$80-100) and then decided to try a PNW Components Cascade dropper. Holy crap, what a value. It is solid, well built and performs well. It is a bit slower than some of the other higher end droppers on the market, but that is something you get used to over time. I did 3 rides on it, 2 on the GB and one at Lakeway and it performed flawlessly. Not a huge fan of the lever but I can probably get used to that over time (they do sell an aftermarket lever that is an additional $60...) We'll see how this goes over time, but I am real impressed with it. Not as cheap as the Brand-X but it comes from Canada and is sold through Amazon so I could get it easily, with prime shipping. Installation and adjustment were a snap, had it on and ready to go in about 15 minutes, including getting the saddle mounted. You can shop for them here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XZ7TQ6N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For those of you that want the full run-down with pics: http://www.austinbike.com/index.php/product-reviews/341-review-pnw-components-dropper-post

  14. That same dude was in front of me on PicnicX one time and ran out of steam trying to make it up the little climb by the BCRT before PicnicX transitions into Picnic. Of course he caused me to bail as well since I was right behind him. Honestly and perhaps selfishly, I'd prefer that those things stay off the trails.

  15. We ended up getting a great ride in at the greenbelt today. Only took a few wrong turns, and hit pretty much everything we were aiming for. 30 miles of fun, started at HOL, went all the way to Zilker and along town lake for a bit, then back to Travis country to hit sidewinder/jedi/mulch. Crossed the creek (kept our feet dry!) and climbed HOL backside back to the car. @CBaron thanks for the sidewinder suggestion, that was a fun tough little bit of trail. I know we rode it during the Death March, but I didn't remember where it was or what it was called. Glad I could show him that.

  16. It doesn't help that when you get to it you've just negotiated a gnarly rock garden and are stoked to still be pedaling and not walking. I've contemplated trying to ride it but it's like the dragon's balls at Pace Bend. If I had some people standing there watching and spotting me, I'd hit it and probably make it. Without that peer pressure and safety blanket, it's a risk that I'm generally not inclined to take.

  17. What a great turn out for building today. We had 15 people show up. Thank you to everyone that came, we got so much done. Someone left a blue North Carolina hoodie, i have it. Pm me and ill drop it off.

  18. If you are going to install a concrete filled steel pipe, you should put a metal sign on it explaining why it is there and telling people not to sanitize the trails or this is what will happen.

  21. This thread started about a feature that already had multiple alternative lines, and the primary feature still got destroyed, then you jumped in with your usual diatribe. How many fucking lines do you think needs to be there? Anywhere? Oh wait, I'm too entitled to ask that question. I have no idea why cxagent would want to engage in a conversation about this with you when he already pointed out the obvious.

  22. Jesus Fuk. (And that is my usual most reserved swear) This again? Post #1 says there were 3 lines. No one needs signs. They need a swift kick in the nuts. I can't wait for the future where riders sign in and drones hover above following heat signatures to make sure numbnuts don't stop and whip out tools on the wrong days. Want this for green baggers too. Those assholes deserve to have the whole warm bag shoved into their mouth until it biodegrades. Damn it. Also can we get some downvote buttons in this shit?

  23. The legal department at AB World Headquarters is so understaffed that we don't worry about suing people for copyright infringement. We are focused on root removal lawsuits.

  24. No. They most certainly do not have a point. Your proximity to a park or trail does not entitle you to design the park or trail for your preferences. You are not entitled to go and edit it to your wishes. You are entitled to show up and volunteer. To organize. To offer input during public comment periods. The fact that there was already an easier option at PB yet someone still made a permanent change to the trail negates the argument that I think you're trying to make. But arguing over what someone should be entitled to is already a failed discussion. Use it as it is. Enjoy the trail as it is. Raise your skill level or avoid the trail. Or show up when work is being done and negotiate over how things should look.

  25. Signs at the parking lot and on the trail are being done. If you happen to have seen what is done on the LCRA signage project (McKinney Roughs, Grelle, and Shaffer Bend) we have been putting green / blue / black trail ratings per the IMBA guidelines. If you have been to Muleshoe in the past year, you might have noticed that those same signs point to two new "Bypass or B-line" that we have created so the entire main loop can be rated green. We need to get back to finish the other three but other issues have taken priority. NOTE - we have not closed or sanitized the five technical spots on the main loop - only created longer/slower bypasses. If you can ride the technical spots you have a speed advantage. If you take the bypass it is easier but takes more time. I think that is a win - win for everybody. Lower skills have a rideable route. Higher skills have a speed advantage. Hopefully nobody feels like they have to screw up the "other line". Also note that not every trail or feature CAN have a bypass. Sometimes the terrain just does not allow it. Sometimes the land owner/manager will not allow it. Some people should stay off trails they don't like or can't handle. But those same people are the ones that claim that the trail has to be "cleared" so they can push their baby stroller on it. Yes - I got that exact complaint on the BCGB. Part of the reason the tree cutting gets to me is the number of times I have been told I am "ruining trails" or "building wheel chair ramps". And when there is a technical trail feature some asshat screws it up. Entitled people appear to me to be the problem. ENTITLED people. The solution I see is INFORMED/EDUCATED people. That is the reason I am positing this. I hope that people on this and other boards can help educate people.

  26. I'll help... "This spot usually had three lines A ) the skinny past the tree B ) drop to the smooth path to the left and climb back up C ) most of the time you could go around the tree to the right (was usually blocked during events so riders had to use some actual skill). I am thinking about replacing that tree with an 8 inch steel pipe filled with concrete." ...again...B ) drop to the smooth path to the left and climb back up ...B ) drop to the smooth path to the left and climb back up ...B ) drop to the smooth path to the left and climb back up ...B ) drop to the smooth path to the left and climb back up There was a "b" line that was perfectly ridable without the technical exposure. I've ridden all three lines, but I normally "chicken out" (my opinion of my own reaction) and ride the "b" line. It sucks that this line was sanitized. I appreciate your rant CXAGENT.

  27. There could be signage at the parking lot, and redundantly along the trail, clearly stating who to contact regarding needed trail work and suggestions for modification. As well as clearly stating that nobody is to do work on the trail without approval from the steward(s) prior. Then again, the sort of folks that do this are about as likely to read the signs as folks are to read the OP stating how there already were 3 lines to choose from in this particular instance. People, are a problem.

  28. There has been a "B-line" for years (smooth down and up to the left). There has been a "C-line" for years (stay right of the tree). If somebody wanted an "easier route choice" it was already there. What they did was to take away the harder line. I cannot think of any reasonable justification for what they did.

  29. I’m ok with B-lines if the trail steward designs these in, but rando dudes adding them in is not ok!!!! You can’t responsibly or feasibly add a line for all skill levels everywhere or every trail would turn into a parking lot!

  30. @RidingAgain regarding alternate lines...perhaps you could actually read the OP?
