Maybe that's what I did then. Seems my segment is missing a couple of little loops that are normally there towards the end, and I'm guessing that's where the rollers are. Please don't tell my wife that I got lost - I don't want to have to go the Memory Care Assisted Living yet.4 points

Depends on your dirt. In the hill country the best tool is a pick mattock Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk2 points

Snakes are masters of camouflage. Hard to believe a snake that's colored like this can hide so well. We're very fortunate not to have anything like this around here. 2" fangs that can easily pierce a leather boot not to mention a massive dose of venom. One of the most beautiful snakes I've ever gotten to see up close and personal. He's in here somewhere.2 points

I remember having that convo with Eric. He asked, “what should we call ourselves?”...neither of us is particularly nice...so I jokingly responded, “The Brushy Creek Buttholes.” Same with the trail name. Deception. I never intended for either to stick, but here we are. The sign will never be perfect to anyone no matter what. Ever. But it’s a step in the right direction and what this trail system attempts to represent...growth, progression, riding bikes, buttholes.2 points

I seek and support individuals that exhibit EFFORT, First-Blood does just that. First-Blood, don't waste your time with explanations, people only hear what they want to hear. Ridenfools name is just that, a fool.2 points

I saw it on Thursday and didn’t stop as it was dark and I was moving. However, today I did stop and read it. If we go with the idea that most people are good , I think it works great. Some people are turds and they won’t stop to read it anyway so screw them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I really wish that would have happened when one of those happy couples was taking pictures on the bridge. If there was a sequence with the snake slowly entering the frame from above and falling onto our smiling family it would have been a viral sensation!2 points

I’m going to buy one of these two. I have noticed that the McLeod is the tool I see in most group trail work days. Does anyone have any experience with the rogue 7” rake hoe? To the casual eye it looks like a better tool.1 point

yikes! we're up in Portland Or. right now and the weather is 55 and cloudy with slight chance of rain. Wish I had my MTB about now, but doesn't look like they have much trails downtown Portland. Gotta say, we're not looking forward to returning to Austin weather after this.1 point

You cant reach everyone. There are those that will flip you a finger screaming 'Merica no matter what. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk1 point

My intent wasn't to make a trail sign to read at a glance. It was a WAY different approach. I tried to even place them in places where one could stop and read... maybe ponder if you will. I truly believe most people are good. And that most users modify the trail because they are naive and think that they are helping. Or that its ok because its public park land. That's what the WARNING is at the top for. It will make people stop and read. I couldn't care less about getting more people to help out. Its managed just fine as is. (Disclaimer... the last year has been challenging with a newborn but I will maintain as the trail deserves once I can again... and I appreciate all those who step up to help) oh....The email is there in small type for a reason as well. "Keep It Simple Stupid" is especially important in creating a sign to be read from a moving platform, Make it easy to read the important bits at a passing glance. I.E.: PLEASE DON'T MODIFY THE TRAIL This trail is built and maintained by local Mountain Bikers If you would like to contribute your time and effort, let us know Organized workdays happen often and you are welcome to join in the fun For more information: Contact: xxxx@xxxx.xxx Join: Austin Ridge Riders Visit: www.austinmountainbiking.com1 point

I've only ridden Brushy once, and, yes, I did some trail work on that ride. Throet will vouch for me. If you've ever ridden Rocky Hill, you will likely have ridden on trails I created there. Ever ridden Pace Bend? I spent a lot of time helping build out there. Reveille Peak? Many a weekend building the original trails. Slaughter? I helped build, but have never been back to ride them, yet. Bluff Creek Ranch, yep, I've done work out there too. Others may remember more places I've volunteered on trails over the years that I've forgotten. To answer your question, no, I haven't driven the hour-plus from Fayette County to attend any work days at Brushy. Not yet anyway. Some day I might. Just pointing out how that sign leans more toward being a challenge to ass-hats, Some might get it, others might flip it off and go do what they want. But do whatever you feel serves you best. If you like constantly erasing B-lines and all the other complaints I read here, this might be better than nothing, IMHO, as it currently reads, I think that sign will fall short of rendering the desired effect. Maybe I'm mistaken. Time will tell. If your goal is to get other riders who are local and clearly willing to work more involved with organized trail building and maintenance, it might be of benefit to offer them an invite.1 point

Speaking of a homage Please tell me the BCB refers to Eric's old page? That would be funny Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk1 point

MOne of the rules I live by on the trail- always ride your own shit first. Call me captain Guinea pig. A few things went wrong here- firstly my cleats and pedals are worn out and I popped out right off the lip, then the landing was too short/ I was going too fast and overshot the landing and landed to flat, rolled front tire and nose wheelie OTB into the camera man. We we were both completely unscathed! 😆🙏💀 3157876F-B3D3-4103-B638-0DB64487A267.MOV FF82E170-ADAC-47A9-96DC-78BFB34CC6F1.mp41 point

How many pages should said sign be? Ha. Anyways cant please everyone. Already got complaints from others about various other things like fonts and too many words. Sorry it didnt meet your needs too. But I get what you mean as well. not sure that saying people work hard on this for free would change an assholes mindset. Shit maybe none of this will. But there were already so many words on it. Anyone angry enough or interested enough will give the email a go. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk1 point

Those signs are great, even if only a small percentage of people take the time to read them. Anything to help spread the word about not sanitizing trails to your fit your abilities.1 point

Signs are perfect. If someone takes the time to stop and read them, they will get the message. If they choose to screw with the trail at that point, no amount of empathy towards the trail builders would influence them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The dirt last night was like FirstBlood in a gay club...HOOKIN UP! I would love to extend a huge cyber hug to whomever put up the sign at the East end of Rimjob. I love it! I can’t speak to putting nails in trees but preliminary google search says no serious harm. I didn’t ride Deception to see if the signs were put there as well but they certainly apply. 👏🏼1 point
