EVERYONE - so this is NOT HAPPENING and is NOT REAL or SANCTIONED by PARD. do not sign up for this. I just kicked a 15 year old kid named Rhett off of Victory Racing Team for this and apparently his is ACTUALLY trying to make it happen. so just to clear the air this is NOT associated with my company/team Victory Racing in any way whatsoever. but the kid pursuing this used to and no longer wears a VRT jersey im glad I saw this. it will be handled appropriately ********** the story for anyone who would like to read it - Rhett (formerly one of our grom 15yr old racers on VRT) messaged me with a big excited message around 2 weeks about how Victory Racing should have a DH race at the HOL, and that he had *already* gotten approval from PARD via email. I replied "that sounds amazing but I want to forward that email conversation with you and PARD before actually planning anything." days go by and I never received that email forward. I asked him where it was and then he reveals that he had merely sent a single email about it and assumed the response would be quick and likely an approval 🤣 (LMFAO GTFOH) I explained its not gonna likely happen, end of conversation then yesterday I see on his instagram story that he is gonna hold a bandit DH race at HOL 2/28. I promptly had a messenger conversation with him about why he can not and will not do this. and formally removed him from Victory Racing Team for a combination of reasons. This being a big one. and now I log in here after not being on the boards for a long while and see this post very first thing. LOL this stuff writes itself I swear haha6 points

I worked DD W -> E up to EBD. There are 2 spots left that will require more than I had in me. I was toast at that point and had to bail. The connector from Twin Lakes to Snail needed a lot of work. It should be clear from the spot where you hop through the split tree all the way to Snail. There is a downed Juniper left that can be hopped over on the approach to the #2 ramp.4 points

Every time I‘ve ever been down HOL there was a DH race happening...just seems like no one else ever knows about it. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Thinking back to my years growing up in a divided Detroit in the sixties, harmony came only through the sweet sound of Motown. Ironic and sad how I was exposed to my own paternal family's prejudices while they gleefully played records from artists like Diana Ross and the Supremes on one of these contraptions in our cramped living quarters. Fortunately for me, my German immigrant mother contrasted that hate with love for everybody and everything, as she herself had lived through the horror of Hitler's reign, allied bombing attacks, and post-WWII apocalypse before finally departing for New York on warship turned transport ship USS General Muir in 1951.3 points

Snail is mostly cleared. *Lines 1, 2, Highline, 5 and everything in ravine are cleared. *Line 3 is passable but you gotta weave around a few downed branches. *Climb Route that goes up the middle is still a disaster *Line 4 I never looked at so unknown By Friday it should all be cleared Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk3 points

Yunno, this doesn't seem like anything a few "old wise men" couldn't stop by making their presence known at the HOL around the time that the event is suppose to take place. https://images.app.goo.gl/KH5pGFQ2TZr8tY7q72 points

Last night I spent a few hours working in the greenbelt. If you want to see where, so we don’t duplicate efforts, it’s simply my name, Jackie Westbrook. Lots of people have pitched in proving once again that the local MTB community is a strong one. Makes me happy to be part of it.2 points

The parking situation alone will be enough to hyper-inflame the neighborhood! -CJB2 points

I confess I am a bit afraid to. the kind of person who hosts an unsanctioned DH race on a crowded public trail probably doesn't want to hear from me. I'll let ARR deal with it.2 points

They are charging an entry fee; is there any indication they have a permit from City of Austin? If they have a permit, all good. If not...2 points

Is this the same group that had a "race" at the Maxwell Slaughter Creek Trail?2 points

My dad was the TV/Stereo repair guy in the '60s. He worked for Magnavox. We had a lot of those consoles over the years.2 points

1/4 Notch is now clear, but will need some clean up to get rid of punji sticks and some low hanging limbs that may still spring back up. Most of it had been cleared by a gentleman named Brian that we met shortly after we got on the trail at the EMS access point. Thanks to @Cafeend, @horncpa and Brian for the help.2 points

https://www.bikereg.com/hill-of-life-downhill I am confused. how does one host a downhill contest on a trail that is open to the public?1 point

There were some little concrete parking blocks installed in that ditch the last time I rode through. Everything in there is too small to be exciting for even 20" bikes. Good place to mess around, but there are better ditches nearby for that sort of thing.1 point

New YouTube video of Portal Trail in Moab, Utah is posted on my Seth Buckgnar YouTube Page! Video link in Bio! There was so much riding that I’m going to have to do individual videos for each major ride we did throughout the trip. Which is awesome! id really love to get to ride these trails throughout this trip a bunch of times and be able to rip down them! but was a blast for the first time rides! I've been enjoying Taika Waititi's movies lately. If you've seen and enjoyed Jojo Rabbit and What We Do in the Shadows, go back and watch Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. You can access some of these films for free through the Kanopy app. this f-king guy! 😆1 point

That's nuts! I did some dumb stuff when I was a kid but geez. bandit race on HOL is almost as stupid as hosting a bandit race at Slaughter Creek Trail.1 point

I'm not on Facebook either but most of the trials have been cleared. If you find something that hasn't post it here or PM me and I'll try to get to it.1 point

Wow what a transformation! First time I saw her, she was in a drab house dress and sandals performing in the backyard. She can damn sure play the guitar though no matter what she looks like.1 point

I stop by yesterday to see if they were still allowing voting for the $10k they were giving to a local cycling organization, since most of the voting was during the winter stormzilla! They weren’t but still had some of the swag shirts they were giving away and I score one. I thought that was pretty cool. The store was just slightly different, but still had the same basic vibe.1 point

Shopped at the Parmer location for the first time time after the transition. I called ahead to find a 7 speed master link, they said they were out but had a SRAM chain for $16. Not too bad. I showed up after work and they sold out of the SRAM but they had a Shimano for $24. He priced matched the SRAM without me even asking because he remembered that I had called ahead. It was also the first time I had been in the store because when it was BSS they were doing business from the sidewalk.1 point

I’m not on Facebook but there’s supposed to be a SATN page that is being monitored with updates. Lots of good folks have been clearing trails and keeping the trail master updated so we don’t duplicate efforts1 point
