  1. Given the type of traffic that's been building up out there, perhaps it got degraded by the multitude of kickstands rolling over it. 🤣

  2. Great thread! Here's my oldest at 5 last fall. Shortly after this ride she decided her helmet didn't feel right so she's barely ridden her bike since.

  3. I've been using Garmin Handheld units for 25 years and they and all handheld units will take some time to reacquire a satellite fix if they have been off for some time, especially if they battery was removed/went dead. The more recently on it was the quicker the fix, this has improved greatly over the generations of units with things in WAAS, etc. In general my Garmin (none bike specific) have been tanks and survived many bike/motorcycle crashes without issue. I have had some PC connection issues but I blame windows for always forgetting its drivers and needing to reinstall every flippin' time. Here's a pic of my Garmin in action. It came out completely unscathed:

  5. Yeah they look great. Until you're standing outside waiting for a bus in February, it's -6 and your eyelashes freeze together when you blink.

  6. Are you drinking pure water? I get those if I'm not taking in enough sodium. Ever since my college years I figured throwing in some salt into my water helped me stave off those headaches.

  8. Yeah, we have epidemiologists and people that specialize in disease and I am supposed to listen to a guy with a neck tattoo? Um, that guy is a PHD, not an MD, and I cannot find any reference in what his doctorate is in. It certainly is not math because he does not understand how ratios work. When cases go up faster than deaths, which are a lagging indicator, rates go down. But, great call, because texas hit ANOTHER record in total deaths. Maybe all of those deaths will free up some ER space.

  9. When I'm on a bike trip and know I'm riding as much as possible multiple days in a row, I like to pop a handful of SportLegs post ride and before bed. Usually there are about 20 beers in between those doses, so the later one is often forgotten.

  10. Have you tried Sport Legs? It's the only product that actually makes my endurance riding muscle cramps go away (not electrolyte efficiency cramps, but rather muscular cramps). I already take in 600-800mg sodium per hour.

  11. Several months ago my Edge 520 started freezing and taking forever to step through menus and taking a long time to connect and the fix was simply to delete the ride history. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. "IMBA Spec," as I call it. I enjoy the trail style as a concept, but I wouldn't want it to be all I had available to ride. You know, a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Some other fun, but copy/paste trail systems across the US are Jakes Rocks in PA, Raystown in PA, Ridgeway Trails in CO, Iron MTN in AK...and I'm sure 100s of others. Basically anything that a LOT of the trail was created by machine. But these trails get a lot more fun the faster you ride them. The fun is in the fast corning, grade reversals and g-outs. Locally we don't have a lot of it at all, Although I think much of the newer (non DH) stuff being built at Flat Rock Ranch qualifies. On Back 40, to break things up, you really have to be sure to hit The Ledges trail.

  15. I just got back today. I wasn't on a bike trip but I managed to sneak away a couple days, and one of those I rode the back 40. The deciduous forest views were great. I really enjoyed the nature and scenery. The trail was just ok. The terrain was great. 20+ miles with 100 feet of elevation per mile means it's as steep as the steepest trail systems around here, but it goes forever. The way all the small streams and gulleys shaped the land mean there's a ton of hillside for winding trail. The problem is that the trail is just uninspired. Once you've ridden the first few miles you've pretty much seen every trick the builders have, and then they're just repeated over and over for 20+ miles. There are basically no rocks, ledges, tricky roots, tight spots, or spots that we would call technical at all. "The ledges" has some legit cliff exposure that made me half pedal a few times but it was over quick. It gave me some perspective to see the skill and ambition that our trail builders have that make places like Walnut fun despite not having the terrain or budget that Bentonville does. So if you want to just ride along for a long time for exercise or whatever then it's great. I would save it for last because it is a long ride with a lot of climbing. Bring extra tires. The type of rock there is flinty and sharp. I got a flat, and saw lots of them. WEAR BUG SPRAY.

  16. Thanks for the plugs guys! I have a fleet of demo bikes you're welcome to take out. The Ripmos are hard to come by. I think I have like 30 on order so depending on your size I can see when the next batch is scheduled. Other great bikes to look at are the Orbea Occam. I knew this would be a hit when the new model was introduced last year. It is finally getting a lot of attention by the reviewers. https://jeffkendallweed.com/oldest-bike-brand-of-all-time-the-story-of-orbea/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8av86gBVBtE I just picked up Revel bikes and have the Medium Demo up and running. I should have the large by the end of the month Nukeproof and Scott are other brands I have available to demo. However, both companies are completely sold out and bikes won't be available for a couple more months at least. I'm selling the Nukeproof demos and will replace this fall.

  18. Raising the standard of living in China would weaken communist rule and result in a lowered risk for an armed conflict. Most global trade is good, balancing out the trade worldwide has positive benefits. If you believe that a country can maintain power while the rest of the world stands still, do a little research on the French Revolution. Also, for fun, check out the BOM on the American made bronco;) Basically we are in a global economy and should treat it accordingly. There are benefits to people not being poor.

  19. Check out Little Sugar on the west side of Bella Vista. If you want more technical trail, you can find it at Mt. Kessler in Fayetteville. They are also opening a new trail in Bentonville soon--it's called Flowzone and is next to Ozone. It looks to be pretty fun. You definitely want to check out ALL of Slaughter Pen. Places to eat/drink: Bike Rack Brewing, The Peddler (next to Bike Rack), Meteor, Table Mesa, Bentonville Brewing. Rogers has several brew pubs as well. That's where The Rail Yard is--it's a fun bike playground.

  20. I always keep my bladders in a drawer in the garage fridge Ever since doing so the skank has ceased. The only times I have an issue with some nasty stuff growing in them is if and when I forget to put the bladders back in the cold. If I leave them in the heat or room temp then stuff grows. I do run straight water in bladders. If I mix I use a water bottle Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  21. I always mix powdered drinks like propel in my bladders and have never had an issue. Just rinse the bladder out with water after each ride, let the hose flush while the clean water is in it, and then stick it in the freezer for the next ride. I've never even used soap to clean them.

  24. My latest attempt at a heat-coping strategy when I ride my local trail is to fill two water bottles with ice and cold water and partially freeze them. I carry one on the frame and the other inside by camelback (no bladder). I ride roads for about eight minutes to get to my personal trail network. Once I get there I drop my camelback in the shade at a four-way trail intersection and get to ride without the weight and heat of the pack on my back. Every time I come near the intersection I spray my forehead with cold water. Between that and starting early and keeping the ride short I have been able to keep riding, but without the heat-headaches that used to be ubiquitous for me in the summer after a ride.

  25. seriously, FFS @TheX. saying ignorant stuff and not responding to people who point out the contradictions is juvenile. you can't just post some non-sequitur, drop the mic and walk out of the conversation without standing up to scrutiny from your peers. if you just want to shout at us and stick your fingers in your ears instead of taking personal responsibility for the critiques you deserve, GTFO.

  30. ...Then Northpark in Allison Park, PA (northern Pittsburgh) They have a fun little skills park there and my 6 year old without warning said he wanted to hit "The Drop Line" and dropped in. It's a run with progressively larger drops mostly to flat with the first one being about a 1.5' drop. He STOMPED the first one and I couldn't believe it. He decided (wisely) not to continue with the larger drops, but I was super proud. My 8 year old surprised me on how good he has gotten on climbs. He just settles in to a groove and scrambles up and over rocks and roots to calmly wait for his brother and I at the top. Great days on bikes!

  33. It could have been squashed in china with the swiftness, but seeing the only sacrificial lambs are elderly people, China let this spread like wildfire and the media is pumping it as hard as possible. This sends the market and jobs to a screeching halt, oil markets fall out of the bottom, and everyone is in complete panic. All in a US election year while congress drags their feet to get relief to the America people.
